Lesson 1.1: The Hyena
This lesson has some more graphic parts pertaining to reproduction and hunting, please refrain from the documentaries if this isn’t safe for your little!
Starting off, we will showcase the 4 species of Hyenas!
First and easiest to recognize is the Spotted Hyena! Also known as the Laughing Hyena!
Tumblr media
In your journal or wherever you keep notes, write down the location, diet and habitat of these hyenas as you research! The documentaries will cover this hyena the most!
The second Hyena species we will be looking at is the Brown Hyena.
Tumblr media
This Hyena is the rarest of all the Hyenas and not much is known about them! Again, when researching, write down the location, diet and habitat.
Third is the Striped Hyena!
Tumblr media
These guys are also relatively unknown but you’ll be able to find enough about them to get the location, diet and habitat for your notes!
Lastly, the final species of Hyena is called the Aardwolf!
Tumblr media
Despite their name, they are certainly a Hyena! They’re particular and very different from the rest of the Hyenas! Also include their location, diet and habitat in your notes!
In your notes, please also include each of the species scientific names.
After all that hard work, enjoy these documentaries below to learn more about Hyenas and their social behavior! Be warned, these documentaries can get graphic, make sure you’re able to handle this content or have a caretaker with you to handle the scary parts!
