Monday, March 25th, 2019 -- Little Red Schoolhouse Nature Center (Willow Springs, IL)
Very nice and decent sized nature center not too far from my apartment! I stopped here before work and took a gander at the critters and birds they had, plus took stroll around the almost 2 mile trail that partially borders Longjohn Slough. No wild animal sightings besides birds, but there was a patch of reed marshland that was LOUD with frogs!

Saturday, March 23rd, 2019 -- Swallow Cliff Stairs (Palos Township, IL)
I'm a little disappointed with the "breathtaking view" from this lookout; I was expecting more woodland, not parking lot :/

Friday, March 22nd, 2019 -- Lake Katherine Nature Center (Palos Heights, IL)
Visited the Lake Katherine Nature Center today and while strolling the trail around the lake, I came upon turtles sunbathing! I’m so happy critters are slowly starting to become active again after what has felt like such a long winter. The park also had a lovely little waterfall and stream that was very relaxing to listen to.

Tuesday, March 19th, 2019 -- McClaughry Springs Woods (Palos Park, IL)
A quick stop here after work, so glad the sun is staying out longer!! There's access to a long trail here so I'll definately have to check that out.

Sunday, March 17th, 2019 -- Four Rivers Environmental Education Center (Channahon, IL)
Took a road trip this morning to the Forest Preserve District of Will County to see the flock of migrating American White Pelicans! Such a wonderful experience to view these birds in the wild for the first time, and in such a large quantity 💕

Monday, March 11th, 2019 -- Sundown Meadow (Countryside, IL)
My first official outing in Illinois! It was around 40°F and sunny today so I figured why not, but I forgot spring = mud. The trail was nice but I didn't care for how close to the major roadways it got, and I didn't see any critters besides a nuthatch and a few other birds. I schlooped over to look at Lake Ida as well, which looks like it would make a nice picnic spot in the summer!
I'm so excited to be able to explore this area and the Forest Preserves of Cook County later this year 😀

I think there were at LEAST thirty of these tiny little bbies, and those were just the ones we saw.

Thursday, August 2nd, 2018 -- Kettlewell Pond (Fort Gratiot, MI)
One of the many, many cranes that used to call this pond home. I always wonder what caused them not to return...

Every summer we'll get plenty of these guys around, and its always cool seeing them and their cases that they shed.

Friday, June 15th, 2018 -- St. Clair, MI
My dad found a baby trash panda trapped in the dumpster, poor thing. We put a plank of wood in there for it to climb up but it was too slick for it to get a grip, so my dad just reached in there and picked it up like a kitten, by the scruff of its neck. It gave a small squeak before running back to the woods 😊

Well-kept park, but wish the trails were more clearly marked.
