tried to explain to a white liberal that i felt weird seeing white people make racist sounding jokes about AI ("tin crow laws", "wirebacks/silverbacks", "my daughter better not come home with no god damn clanker") because of how ingrained it is into the "white" identity to incite genocide by inventing an outgroup, and how that's the only "white heritage" that exists because "whiteness" was invented 200 years ago from ideology.
i was told i was "flexing my history knowledge" for bringing this up, and then accused of promoting bioessentialism for saying racism defines white blood-- something objectively true, as "whiteness" cannot exist without an outgroup.

Like... once again femslash shippers come in dead last even among other lesbians lol you can't even imagine we exist. Meanwhile over 20 years after Xena ended, people are still writing Xena/Gabrielle fic, and the body of fanfiction that was created for and around XWP when it was airing (along with, of course, other pillars of early internet fandom like Buffy and HP, but this is specifically addressing the f/f example) has IMO led directly to the current era where highly successful femslash fic writers are publishing reskinned AUs on Ylva. Have a little respect lol

I don't want to shit all over a post that has extremely good intentions and has very good analysis, but positing that fandom lesbians have a special kind of pornsickness because "fandom is slash and we all masturbate to men having sex with other men and it poisons our lesbian sexuality" is like. Well that's the experience of a specific group of lesbians. Some of us have pretty much only ever cared about female characters in fiction and Idk I feel like it's almost an example of further male-centeredness to assume that all lesbians are equally subject to this male obsession. Like you can't even imagine a fandom lesbian that ships women together, you only imagine a fandom lesbian that wants to see Dean and Cas dock their penises.
My personal progression in fandom started with het ships, because I projected myself onto male characters and used them to fantasize about the female characters that attracted me. I invented male love interests for female characters so I could act out worshipful desire for a woman. When I discovered femslash or f/f or whatever as a mid-teen I just never went back. And, candidly, if you go into the tags for certain kinds of women and female characters here on Tumblr or even on places like Xitter, you will find HORDES of women frothing for fictional female characters and for female actors. This isn't to suggest there's no pornsick elements of how they express that desire, there often are, but I don't think that the gal writing xReader fic about getting fucked with a strap by a 76-year-old Broadway diva calling it "mommy's dick" is like... in the same category as a lesbian who is totally subsumed into and lives through slash culture and m/m fiction.

Does anyone else think that david lynch's fimography would have been drastically improved if, at the end of each movie some pop music played, and all the characters got together, and started dancing, and the bad guys were standing with there arms crossed refusing to dance, but then their foot starts tapping, and their head starts nodding, and they go like, ah what the heck, and join the big dance party?

people have these “my dog is a democrat” stickers and I like to imagine them with increasingly unlikely animals professing more niche political opinions:
my parrot is a democratic socialist
my arctic fox is an anarchopastoralist
my catfish believes in the divine right of kings

After over two years of work, The Woman from the Waves is out in the world!
It's a sapphic romantasy about an ex-nun and a shapeshifter out of Scottish folklore who's obsessed with her. It's also a story of love and returning. It's a story of digging through all the harmful dogma you've been taught your whole life to figure out who you are and what you need to be happy. And it's hot!
This book means more to me than anything else I've ever written. In the course of writing it, I developed characters I truly fell in love with, confronted a lot of my own demons, and constructed a story I think is pretty killer, to be honest.
If you've enjoyed my fanfiction over the years, it'd mean a lot to me if you supported the book, either by buying it or spreading the word with a reblog (or both!). The ebook is just 7.99 USD or free on Kindle Unlimited. I do understand folks might not want to buy from Amazon, so there's also the option to order it from any bookstore as a paperback or hardback.
I'm so terribly excited, and delighted to share the news with all of you. Check it out! I wrote a book!

Watching "The Subway" definitely brings home that like. You can dislike Chappell. Sure, fine. But she is objectively gifted and is putting out solid pop songs even if you dislike her branding or don't connect with her. Like sorry that's just objectively true, she is an extremely solid artist with good lyrics and coherent messaging. Many other artists don't get there so quickly nor do they produce such consistent work.
