Craziest thing about people saying superman is woke now is that the movie doesn’t even have a minor plot point of anything “woke”. He’s just nice. He’s just a good fucking person like he always has been. Nothing has changed about his character.

I think my favorite thing about this Superman movie is how it beautifully shows that, yes, he's superhuman, but he still needs help. When he was thrashed on the ground, Mali came to help him get up. Krypto also helped him multiple times (such an absolute menace, but still a good dog!!). When he was feeling at his lowest, his earth parents were there for him. Lois Lane and her whole gang helped expose Lex Luthor's real motives, which in turn helped Superman clear his name. Metamorpho assisted him in the pocket universe, and when Superman couldn't save the people in Jarhanpur because he also need to save Metropolis, he asked his friends for help.

I'm so incredibly glad they didn't make him that "macho, I'm tough, I don't need your help" type. I'm genuinely glad Superman was portrayed again as a sincere, earnest, and kind person that he is. We really needed that. We needed this Superman.
