My finished window display
I added a few extra details as it looked quite plain and I thought the books looked quite cool as they are very Harry Potter themed… the background has all the different colours from Harry Potter in.
This will be one of the windows that Liberty present at the front of the store.
It will tell a story as you walk along and each window will be from each book.
I have chosen to do Harry Potter and the philosopher’s stone as the sorting hat plays the part of choosing which house they all go into.
Window one- sorting hat
Window two- the basilisk
Window three- the prison of Azkaban
Window four- the goblet of fire
Window five- the wall with rules on from umbridge
Window six- the horcrux
Window seven- harry vs dumbledore
Each of these windows will represent something that Harry has defeated throughout.

My initial idea for my window display with a Harry Potter theme includes the sorting hat which is a vital prop in the film. It will be displayed on a cardboard stand with the grifindor colours (deep red and a mustard yellow). the walls will be wallpapered on and there will be a brown wooden frame around the mini display. this is a mockup i made of my design. I am planning on adding some window stickers to the window for some more detail.

This Lego sorting hat gave me an idea for my design so I think I want to incorporate that into my window display.

I then saw the Harry Potter collection in Waterstones and noticed they had a lot of toys related to the Harry Potter series. International harry potter day is on the 2nd may 2025 so I have decided to use Harry Potter to use inside my window display.

Types of window displays
Open window display
Tumblr media
These type of window displays can sometimes look cluttered however it gives the customer a chance to look inside the store through the window.
Closed window displays
Tumblr media
This window display is great if you want the attention to be solely focused on the display without having a distracting background. It is also good as you can have interesting wallpaper and shelving.
Semi-Closed Window Displays
Tumblr media
These give customers a chance to see some elements of the store however still concealing some of it. It’s also affordable and can be changed easily.
Corner window displays
Tumblr media
These displays give customers the opportunity to see the display from two sides of the store and really sets a visual drama in the window display. How ever this could not be possible in my liberty window as they do not have anywhere this could be displayed around the store.

This on trend windows by Liberty is chaotic and trendy at the same time!!!! Liberty VM team say, “There is currently a trend for mixing animal print that runs through both fashion and homewares. We wanted to embrace and celebrate this eclecticism but add a modern twist; layering House of Hackney colour tones and patterns, and mixing traditional furniture with quirky and playful styling elements”

Window displays at Liberty
I researched into what other window displays Liberty have created and it seems that they go all out every time!! One of their most recent summer displays was called “home of the artistic shopper”.
The team stated…
“WE WANTED to CREATE WINDOWS that WERE PLAYFUL and FUN to ENGAGE with, PEERING from ROOM to ROOM and FINDING MAGIC in EVERY NOOK and CRANNY”
And that’s exactly what they did!
Here’s a photo of some of the window displays they created for this theme.

When I was in selfridges today, I saw this mini glass frame that was inside a cabinet in the diptyque section. I thought it was very unique and I love the crazy wallpaper used on the inside. It is a different way to show products off that I have never seen before.

Visiting Trafford centre today, I saw some inspiring window displays like this one in Abercrombie and fitch. I love how they have hung the logo from the ceiling so it is 3D. I am considering using this in my window display.

S/S25 Patterns and prints
According to WGSN, they state in their reports that soft, blurry prints provide a fresh way to update perennial themes, introducing commercial and easy to wear space dyes and printed patterns and colours
Also they say that decorative feminine trims like frills will be a massive part of the staple spring/summer 25 wardrobe.
I also found an article from fashion united stating the upcoming trends for the season and they also say that there will be lots of plaid this season.
