Evaluation
For this project we had to continue our work we started in second year that we can use as  a professional portfolio to promote our animations. We needed to create a website, showreel, CV and a range of branding including a logo.
I really enjoyed this project, although I struggled with time management as the group collab project would often take first place with the project slightly less worked on. However Im very pleased with the work I produced and feel that both my website and show reel showcase the most of my talents. I used a wide range of animations in both and have made sure to specify what my talents and roles in each project were. I enjoyed being able to reflect on my work and seeing how much I have improved over the years and how I could identify what needed changing in my website last year. It made me feel as if ive really improved as a creative and was encouraging for the future.
I feel that my show reel is one of the strongest forms of my branding, although I had originally planned on creating additional animations for it such as an engaging opening and ending titles. I unfortunately as previously mentioned ran out of time so had to just create simple title cards which work well but I will hopefully be able film the animated titles for the degree show and this is something that if I could redo the project I would make sure to have time to do.
I will also continue to work on a business card design which I have thought about but since this is not needed for submission I have been focusing on other parts of promotion and am very happy with what I have created. I hope that I give off a quirky friendly nature through my website and that it is engaging for others.

Weekly summaries
09/03/17 – 12/03/17
We got the brief this week and I am excited to start on this project and re work on my website as I really enjoyed this process last year.
 13/03/17 – 19/03/17
This week my focus was on the group collab project but I did have the platform pitching session this week. I was very pleased with how it went and received a lot of great feed back about how I presented my self and how I can improve my pitching. They said they really liked the way I spoke and when my personality came through so im really going to try and apply this through out my website and CV.
 20/03/17 – 26/03/17
This week was quite productive, I started by creating various social networks such as Instagram and Linked in and placing the social links on my website. As well as creating a professional animation email and linking it to my website to.
  27/03/17 – 02/04/17
I have been working on rearranging my website and have tried to focus it more on just stop moiton and creating a professional engaging website. I worked on the Home page, Contact Page and the About me page as these qwere the three pages that needed the most work so I decided to stat them first and this week I made great progress. I took on the advice from the pitch a couple of weeks ago and used a couple of specific lines from my pitch in the about me profile as the panel said they really liked these
 03/04/17 – 09/04/17
Easter holidays
 10/04/17 – 16/04/17
Easter holidays
  17/04/17 – 23/04/17
Easter holidays
 24/04/17 – 30/04/16
CV work happened this week I re wrote it all out on word and think that I am finished with the text element of the CV but it needs to look more creative and engaging so I will focus on that next week
 01/05/17 – 07/05/17
I focused on finalising my CV this week, and I had a lot of help from Leana as her CV is very good. Me Izzy and Suz were all working on our CVs at the same time so we worked together to help each other and decided to use illustrator to create a more creative look to them.
08/05/17 – 14/05/17
Showreel production was the focus of this week. By the end of the week I had most of the monster prom animation done so I could start to put that into my already made show reel from the platform pitching session. I also startd work on the other show reel to but my priority this week was my main show reel so the second one will need to be completed next week
15/05/17 – 19/05/17
All the work for submission is now complete and ready for hand in.

My website
Bellow are some screen shots of my new website.
I really like the way it look sand feel like it has a quirky happy feel to it which is what i wanted and was aiming for, as these theme matches my work.
Tumblr media
The home page.
I first of all worked on re -aranging the layout so I could fit all the information in such as my logo, contact, CV and menu bar. I the adjusted the font so that I only have two one main font and then my text logo font again following feedback from helen.
I decided to go with an image from my Loris’s Lunch andimation as this was my favourite project from my 3 years at uni. I also did all parts of this project so this is probably the best one to use for my home screen. I decided to go for a day time version as its much more eye catching and work better with the over all colour scheme.
I also have put my CV email and social links on the top left bar on all pages.
Tumblr media
Show reel page
On all pages apart from the home page I have shrunk the size of the logo and text and when you click on the logo it takes you back to the home page. For my showreel page I made a video gallery to neatly lay them all out and easily present basic information such as what each show reel is showing. I kept the lay out simple so the focus is on the show reels for this page and I also included a little bit of text explaining that the work was a mix of group and individual work and to find out more go to the animations page.
Tumblr media
The my work page:
this page didnt need to much work since the previous hand in, all I did was replace some of the work shown with year 3 work such as loris’s lunch animation and style frame and Monster Prom.
Tumblr media
This is the animations page. I decided to change the layout at I wanted to write about what I did for each project. I wrote the name of the project, dates it was worked on, whether it was a group project my roles in the project and a short description of the project.
example:-
Monster Prom
February 20167 - May 2017
Group project
A srop motion animation using teen age versions of well known Greek myth characters. The animation follows young Medusa as she tried to get ready for prom but having snake means this wont be easy. Will she arrive on time? How will her date go? and will she get to dance?
My roles for this project were
Director
Puppet creator
animator
compositor
Tumblr media
This is my artwork page again not much has changed I just removed a couple of the images that i didn’t think were suitable such as my old logo design and photographs of balloons. I inserted more 3rd year work for example the slow loris style frame.
Tumblr media
The contact page was one of the main ones i needed to change as it was way to small and the social media links were laid out confusingly. I started by removing these links and just having them in the top right corner which freed up space to put a mail box in which is linked to my animation email. I also put my email incase any one wanted to contact me that way to. I also decided to put my CV link here to as I just didnt like having a page just for my cv I struggled to get it to look ‘right’ last time so just scrapped that and put a PDF link on this page as well as in the top left hand corner.
Tumblr media
About me page changed a lot to. The text majority stayed the same but the layout and images changed the most. I still kept the program logos and thats a fast visual qay for people to see my what my skills are. I added 3 new photos 2 of me working in the studio and one of a studio et up I made for the Loris’s lunch animation. I like the addition of these photos showing me working and hopfully it gives a good sense of what im about and can do.
the about me paragraph
HELLO, my name is Lucy Jeffries, also known as LJ Animation and I am a Geordie animator with a passion for all things stop motion.  I love nothing more then spending all day in the studio getting lost in my own 'puppety' world.
I am currently studying animation at Norwich University of the Arts.
Whilst at university I have worked on projects for Mustard TV, Cinema City and the BBC and have had my work nominated for the Royal Television Society, North-east and Borders Festival, as well  as shown on TV and online.
I have worked and am confident with Photoshop, Aftereffects, Premiere Pro, TVPaint and Dragon Frame as well as in the studio.

vimeo
I made a second show reel to show my compositing and after effects skills. I have used clips from both 2nd and 3rd year and am really pleased with this show reel as although its focused on the specialism it shows a wide range of animation styles and techniques.
Projects used
Loris’s Lunch
Augmented reality
Cinema City
Squash and stretch
Monster Prom

My show reel
Using the already built show reel from the platform pitching session I added the Monster Prom work and moved the clips around so that the edit fitted with the music.
I used clips from various projects and outlined my role in each project.
Projects used
Loris’s Lunch
Armeture animations
Beths book club
Monster Prom
I chose these as I thought they demonstrated my skills the best and are some of my strongest pieces of work.  They show a variety of stop motion techniques such as animation, compositing and puppet making.

Completed CV
M completed CV, I decided to add my slow loris drawing as it is own of my favourites and I had a large space in my CV that I wanted to fill. I also added a slight background as well to tie it all together. I drew out some leaves and dropped the opacity right down till it was just visible and I love the way it looks.
Over all I am very pleased with this CV and feel it is a strong representation of me. It has a strong colour scheme running through out and the loris drawing and background qive it a fun quirky feel with out dominating the page.

CV
I also changed my personal statement so that it matches with my website.
I have made several changes though as my website is a bit more colloquial then my CV, however I wanted to maintain a fun quirky tone too. I copied over the first few sentences for my ‘About Me’ page and then wrote more about my skills and what I can bring to a job.
“I am a Geordie animator with a passion for all things stop motion. I love nothing more then spending all day in the studio getting lost in my own 'puppety' world. I have a wide range of skills and knowledge in this stop motion field with strengths including puppet creation, animating puppets and am particularly condent with using After Effects to composite and animate. I am a strong team worker and am able to adapt to all sorts of roles. I have used this skill whilst at university and have taken on roles in group projects such as compositor, character designer, animator as well as taking on the responsibility of director for two projects. I also work well individually and am able to set up a studio environment confidently and use lights, cameras, green screens and rigs effectively. I am a hard working friendly individual with both volunteer and paid work experience. I have had experience in working with children, serving customers and working in a team, including being a student ambassador and a PAL Mentor whilst at university.”

I struggled with trying to keep the descriptions of the projects short and to not clutter the page but still get across my points and show all the information i wanted to.

CV
My cv needed alot of work.
It was the first CV i had ever written so I wrote it aiming for regular jobs rather then as an Art cv which I needed to change. I have decided tp use illustrator to make my CV and
To help with this I decided to add some quick doodles in my interests section
interests/hobbies
animals
reading
singing
volunteering
Tumblr media
Im hoping these fun simple doodles will be engaging and make my CV look more arty and exciting rather then just using text.

Website and logo
One of the main changes I made to the website was buying the domain name and now my website is
www.ljanimation.com
this means it should be easier to find and looks more professional.
I also started re working my logo. I created a bunch of different colours and I asked my friends about which on they preferred and it mostly turned out to to be the darker colour and particularly the dark green 3rd along o the bottom row.
Tumblr media
I then added this colour to my text logo too and it worked well.

Website
Although I like the look of my website it needs re working a lot. I feel like it looks a bit to childish and although I want to go for a fun quirky feel I also want to make it look more professional.
Also since I created the site I have decided to focus on stop motion rather then both 2D and stop motion so will need to rework my website in order to show this better. I will also remove some 1st/2nd year work i dont think is quite up to standard, particularly show reels and will need to rework my CV as I dont like the way it looks and rushed it last time. Also since my logo colour has changed I may need to rethink the colour scheme of my website but hope this isn’t the case as I really like the pastel colours.

Platform - Pitching
As part of the platform sessions one was a chance to pitch myself as a stop motion animator to a panel of people who had previously ran sessions. The pitch went really well and i enjoyed having the chance to show and talk about my work.
I was very nervous though and this came across in how i pitched and spoke with feedback from the panel being I needed to slow down and take my time. However I was very encouraged that they liked when my personality came through whilst I was presenting and when I was talking about my work my passion really came across.
