Life 1/1/18
As I finally lay down from this new year I have a lot on my mind. You can have a million things on your mind and that’s okay because things being on your mind doesn’t necessarily mean there’s something bothering you it just means that you’re someone who really analyzes and thinks out things. In a lot of way I enjoy a planning process of things but in a lot of other ways I like in the moment types of things too. Both are pretty awesome if you ask me and both are apart of life.
“New Years Eve, A Time To Grieve”
This was apart of a writing I wrote out last year that was to my grandmother the day of her funeral. I remember I woke up and just felt the spark to write something. I had a great year that year but in that moment I was grieving the loss that I just experienced.
This year was different though. This year I felt a different thing. The same setting ironically enough. I found myself in a hospital setting again but this time it was feeling of hope and inspiration. My girlfriends uncle has been in the hospital for a couple of week at this point. I don’t know him extremely well but I do know that watching his recovery process was one of the most inspiring things to witness on this New Year’s Day. It’s good to be enlightened by inspirations. I have no doubts in my mind he will overcome what he’s facing and come out on top in no time.
“Reach out your hand and grasp at life
Sometimes you’ll be out of reach other times you’ll be just right
Expand the boundaries you set for yourself and break though comfort zones
Figure out keys to open locks
Potential purpose to unfold
Potential ideas to be created
Potential gratitude
Potential wellness
Realize the potential within yourself and release that potential to that of everyone else
An outlook, a smile, a laugh, that’s quite simply contagious and bright”
I don’t have a title for this writing but sometimes that’s better right?
I’m lying in bed, just showered, listening to the Thundercat album thinking to myself life is pretty grand 😄

Life (12-19-17 )
I’ve noticed that people let the simplist bullshit get to them. Like the idea of road rage. I’m guilty of having it myself but in the end is it really necessary? This is unneeded anger that you’re letting yourself fall for. It’s like your wasting your life energy on something so silly. There are people who have so much road rage and I think it’s time to try and be better about not having it.
With this topic comes to the idea of patience. Patience is something that’s very useful in life. I’ve always been a pretty patient person. I’ve been reading a book called “The Power of Now” and in this book it talked about patience and the enjoyment of just life in general. It reminded me of a time that I was about 12 or 13 and my family went to a trip to Cedar Point. We were in a very long line for a rollercoaster. The entire time my brother was very inpatient. Talking about how long this line was and that it needs to hurry up. That we’re wasting time by standing in this line. While I was enjoying this moment. A memory of all of us together waiting for this fun ride we were about to go on. People watching and taking in the wonderful weather we were having that day. As I read this book I realize in a lot of ways I relate to it a lot already. It’s a lot of stuff that I already practiced myself as a human being but didn’t really know about it all. I’ve always enjoyed people watching, I think it’s so interesting. I’ve always enjoyed the different things that the weather does. I’ve always enjoyed just taking in life for what it is. Next time you look at a sunset don’t think of anything else. Don’t think of the problems in the future. Don’t think of mistakes from the past. Just focus on that minute, that sunset, your life, and how amazing that moment is. I guarantee that sunset will be a lot more beautiful if you see it through the eyes of present view.
In the present moment in my life I’ve been undergoing training for my new ORA position in Dublin Methodist Surgery. Today was my first day on my own in the Endo portion of the training. This part has been so cool and so eye opening. I’m learning to much about the medical field that I didn’t previously know. Working along side the surgeons is really cool and it’s something that I never thought would happen in my life. Here I am though and it’s good to be helping people in the process to healthier lifestyles.
I think it’s good to figure yourself out every day. Each day is a beautiful thing that shouldn’t be taken lightly. I’m so glad that I have the power to figure myself out and to create whatever path I want for myself and those I love. Keep peace, keep love, and keep your spirit high ✌🏼😎

Grammy Nominations for Record of the year 2018
One of my favorite times of the year is upon us. That being the Grammy awards and this year being the 60th year. This year I’m very pleased with a lot of the nominations and would like to go over some of them later on in another blog. This one is going to specifically focus on the category Record of the Year. This year the 5 who have been nominated for this category are Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar, Bruno Mars, Childish Gambino (AKA Donald Glover) and Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee, and Justin Bieber with their hit Despacito. Let’s talk about each of these tracks broken down.
1. JayZ (The Story of OJ)- so this song has a lot of potential and I’m really into this one a lot. Very good lyrics and the beat in the background is kind of leading towards that new age rap style. For JayZ I felt like his album 4:44 was a very different approach to what he usually does. He really got deep with his lyrics throughout the tracklist within 4:44. I also really enjoy the music video. I feel as though JayZ being JayZ he could definitely take this win and get the Grammy. Not necessarily my choice and in fact I think I’d rather see Kendrick or Gambino pull out the win. None the less if Jay does get it he does certainly deserve the victory because this track is a solid track.
2. Kendrick Lamar (Humble)- this was the first song off of Kendrick’s latest record DAMN. And was really appreciated by fans. I too really enjoyed this album and this song and couldn’t stop listening to it upon its initial release. I think off of damn Kendrick really had a different approach in the making of this album then he did to his previous release To Pimp a Butterfly. I would really like to see Kendrick get this Grammy because of how much I feel as though he was robbed when Taylor Swift won a couple years back over his album. To Pimp a Butterfly was so good and so different for it’s time of release that I was shocked when he didn’t take home that award. Same thing goes for Damn though it’s one of those albums that I really feel is going to age like wine in the next 10 years. Killer album. I’ve also witness HUMBLE being played live and there was so much good energy being flown in the crowd that day. Amazing show.
3. Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee Featuring Justin Bieber (Despacito) honestly the track that I’ve spent the least amount of time with. I know it was a huge hit for awhile and people absolutely raved to this song when they heard it. It’s not a bad song. It has nice flow to it and really has a feel good sound. I don’t really know the other two artists but Bieber’s last project Purpose really was a growing point in his career. The collaboration with Major Lazer and Skrillex I feel like has led him to this point and made for this great tune. I can see this one pulling the win just because of how popular it was for it’s time.
4. Childish Gambino (Redbone) this is my choice for who I want to snag the prize. Awaken My Love was such an amazing album. Such a throwback to a time where funk ruled the music scene in the 70’s. George Clinton would be proud as Donald created such a classic funk masterpiece to give life to that genre again. The track Redbone is such a feel good song that just makes you want to be in a club with a group of people drinking mixed drinks. Yet at the same time makes you want to stay home with your girl and have a chill night. This song is a bundle of emotions that makes me happy. There is a video on YouTube at the creative process of making this song and it’s so amazing to watch. There was so much work put into creating this incredible piece of art. Stay Woke.
5. Bruno Mars (24K Magic) this song is good. The thing about Bruno Mars is I had absolutely no idea the man only had 3 albums under his belt. It seems like he’s had so many hits over the years you would think he’s had double the number of albums at this point. Not to mention the great collab project that was Uptown Funk. An ode to the great funk days once again. I like 24K magic a lot and it’s a very hype track but honestly if I had to go with a song to be chosen for this catagory from Bruno I definitely would have picked That’s What I Like instead. Still none the less this song has a lot of potential to take home the win on award night.
So there it is. My thoughts on the 5 tracks that have been chosen for one of the bigger awards within the Grammys. I really think Jay, Bruno, or Kendrick will take the win but I really would like to see Gambino pull through with Awaken My Love. That album really through my for a loop when it first was realeased and I can’t express enough how amazing of an album it is. All of the other tracks are solid to though so it’s going to be a tough call this year. Can’t wait to see how everything unfolds in a couple of weeks!

Life (11-24-17) (The Day After Thanksgiving)
Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday to the fact of I get to see my family. Last year during this holiday season I took a hit on both sides of my family. Losing two very important people to me. The first being my Uncle Robert who is one of the funniest and hardworking people I think I’ve ever met. I think every single time we would have a family gathering he would have a new joke for me. My favorite memory of him is when he was fixing something once and just straight jamming out to “Walk of Life” by Dire Straits. I had never heard that song at the time but he said Luke you have to turn the volume way up for this one and jam out to it sometime. Since then I think I’ve done that several times. The best part about that is I knew that this memory meant just as much to him because he would always refer to that song as our song. When he was not doing so well I went over to his place to get his record collection because of how much I’m into records. His copy of Walk of Life was within that collection and it’s one of my most prized 45’s. I think I’ll be listening to that song at some point today... I’m really feeling it. I missed him at Thanksgiving this year. The thing about his passing is how sudden it was. One day he was walking, laughing, and happy as can be. The next he could barley walk and was pretty down about it. How quick it was wasn’t easy.
The next is my grandma. My last grandparent and really the only grandparent that I got to really know. The other three (being my two grandfathers and other grandma) both died either before I was born or when I was very young. I never got to form a bond or connection with them like I did my grandma who died almost a year ago today. She was sick long before with a not so cool disease we all know as Alzheimer’s. She had been struggling with this for years. Her losing complete memory of who I was also was pretty tough to go through. I guess what I mean is that was more of an expected for years and years passing and again that wasn’t easy. Losing a loved one is not easy.
You have to be ready for it and you never are. With that being said there is something about losing a loved one that makes you a little bit stronger for the next steps of your life. The lessons they’ve been teaching you all of your life are highlighted a little bit more. I’ve always taken time to appreciate the lessons I’ve learned from both my grandma and my uncle Robert but you kind of get to see through your own struggles in life whatever they might be that those people also had struggles but when you saw them you were a joy in their life that brought about great memories for not only you but them. I appreciate every single thing that I learned from the both of them and I’m so lucky to have had them in my life. With thanksgiving passing by I missed them a little extra yesterday.
So, let’s talk about the present day though. The here and now. Every single family has there own things. Every family has traditions. Every family has inside jokes. Every family has struggles. Every family has there own things. Appreciate your family now before they pass by you. While they’re still alive take that time to express the love you might want to express. You can’t make it to everything. Things do come up and you do have your own life. You might not be able to get to everyone every year. That’s completely okay and should be understood. However, when you can make it appreciate that time with those people! You never know what life can bring about.
Yesterday, I was at four houses because these are all people who I want to see, and talk with, and laugh with, and simply see how life has been going for them. Realize this importance.

Don’t think about what can happen in a month. Don’t think about what can happen in a year. Just focus on the 24 hours in front of you and do what you can to get closer to where you want to be.

Life 11/08/17
I know I just did one of these yesterday but they had 2 for 5.00 Kombucha back at whole foods so my happiness level is through the roof. Whole foods is such a cool place. There’s so much stuff in there that just fuels your body for the better. Like I love my healthy habits. I know I don’t practice every single happy way of living but I’m glad that the ones that I do practice I am very well about doing. Like water! Mentioned this one in the last blog. Drink water and while you’re at it make sure that water has a high PH level. It’s honestly insane the difference it makes.
Have you ever noticed that sometimes we are so rushed with life? Like we just want to wish it away. I love every single day and what to take time with every single day. Have you ever taken a couple of extra seconds to back into a parking spot? I know that sounds kind of odd but taking those few extra seconds to back into a parking spot rather than just zooming in forward is so amazing. When you’re going somewhere you want to rush so much to your destination that you park quickly where as if you backed in then you would feel kind of a satisfaction of I have all of the time in the world. That’s my take on it.
SHINS TONIGHT, SHINS TONIGHT, SHINS TONIGHT!!! I am so excited! They’re one of those bands that you could be driving into the city in your car jamming out and it works or you could be relaxing on your bed with headphones on and eyes closed and it works. It’s the simplest song to say what you’ve done you know? Have I ever mentioned how grateful I am for life. If you’re reading this I want YOU to know and realize how amazing YOU are. Never forget that. Peace and love.

Life 11/07/17
I never thought the day would come that I enjoy daylight savings time. It’s something I’ve never been a fan of because before in previous jobs I would get out of work to darkness. Now I love it! I wake up to the sun shining as I drive to work and still come out to daylight. It’s a win win situation all around.
You know I think I’ve been dreaming to big lately. I know that sounds weird but I get so caught up in my head at times. It’s like I’m looking too much into the big picture that is my big goals and not focusing on smaller goals. A win is a win. It’s like if you say I want to start drinking more water lately and you accomplish that and your body starts feeling way better than suddenly that what you thought was a small goal turns into a pretty big goal. Accomplish your dreams but enjoy the time getting there too.
I’m having a way better week than last week. Last week I let the weight of the world get to me. This week I feel on top of the world. Once so much shit starts piling up then eventually you’re going to stumble a little bit. That’s okay though because having these low moments are so normal. The upside to these down moments is when you feel on top of the world you really feel it. Like right now as I’m typing this I feel like I could do anything I set my mind to. I’m the best there ever was and the best there ever is. Atleast when it comes to Lucas Knight. That’s the most important is to try and be the best you that you can be.
