You're the most fallible, stubborn, self-deluded, bull-headed man I've ever known in my entire life. Yet withal, you're the only human being in my entire life who ever gave me hope.
Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer as Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday TOMBSTONE (1993) dir. George P. Cosmatos

It truly fascinates me when british people writing in the 1800s bring up stereotypes I've never even considered. according to this aristocrat writing in 1804 people in co. armagh are uniquely obsessed with cheating each other at horse racing, both in that it's their main past time and that no other counties do it to such an extent, and it really personally offends him because apparently the soil there being good (which he ascribes to the positioning of various mountains elsewhere in ireland) means that the people are supposed to be, like, almost human beings in his book rather than just like those miserable wretches in the rest of ireland, and apparently they also do this so much that it's super dangerous to travel because you can't go anywhere in armagh without multiple people trying to cheat you in some horse racing related fashion. so. best not to go to early nineteenth century armagh I guess

we were meant to live slowly!!!! we were meant to savor moments and feel unabashedly lazy and frolic and smell the flowers and laugh with our entire hearts and love with our entire souls!!!!! don’t ever feel guilty for resting!!!!!! don’t ever feel guilty for slowing down!!!!!! enjoying life shouldn’t be something you’re ashamed of
