Exile: Escape From the Pit (also known simply as Exile I) is the first in Jeff Vogel and Spiderweb Software's Exile series of fantasy RPGs that were released for Macintosh and Windows. It was initially published by Fantasoft. Exile I would eventually be remade (and renamed) as Avernum.

Story

You are a group of adventurers, mages, thieves, and mixed malcontents, who have just been teleported, for crimes unknown and probably trivial, into the vast, labyrinthian underworld of Exile. There, you will meet the people who came before you, learn about the society that they have created, battle the nasty creatures that torment them, and ... and ...

And what? What is the goal? What are you trying to do?

That's a fair question. And there are many answers. Do you want to escape? Save the people of Exile from the dangers they face? Just explore, run around and kill? Wreak a horrid revenge on the surface world? Exile has many missions, some small, some large, some game-spanning. There are several ways to win the game, of varying difficulty. And there are towns and dungeons that just don't have much to do with anything.

Finding out how to save (or change, or destroy) the world will not be easy. You will need to search caverns, huge and small, convenient and remote, talking to people and searching for clues. And then, when you find out something you can do, you must make the harder choice: Is it something you should do?

Importantly, v1.3 introduced the 'AP' or 'action points' system of combat. 5th DL:v1.2 - Introduced the ability to save dialogue responses in a journal, and also added a background music feature utilizing MOD or MAD files (the included music file is of J.S. Bach's 'Little Fugue' in G-minor, though it can be replaced with one of your choosing). 6th DL:v1.1.3 - A point update from 1.1.2, it was most likely a bug fix. 7th DL:v1.1.2 - An update from v1.1, 1.1.2 evidently fixed a crucial bug regarding weapon accuracy, as well as added improved graphics. 8th DL:v1.1 - Added a Save Maps option, as well as item storage rooms. Also introduced an improved spell selection system, as well as save file loading from the Finder. 9th DL:v1.0.5 - A significant update from the initial 1.0 release, v1.0.5 added several important features: integrated spell selection, improved ranged attack targeting, and a new character information window. It also fixed a bug that prevented the game from running on various machines.

Beware! Versions of Exile I prior to 1.3 do not use the 'AP' system of combat found in later versions of the game and subsequent entries in the series. Characters in these versions are limited to just one tile of movement per turn during combat.

It was back to basics for the sixth Need for Speed title. The game was divided into two types of gameplay -- World Racing and Hot Pursuit. World Race included three different race types that were slightly different from one another; whereas Hot Pursuit brought back the arcade-style racing that NFS fans fell in love with many years before. Chases were once again a focal point of gameplay, but for the first time ever, players were given the chance to 'be the cop' without entering a code. In this mode, players had a 'quota' of tickets to give out before time expired.

TM™ Symbol

(also SM℠ Symbol) This symbol is used to inform others that you think that the word is your trademark. In some countries, this will give you common law rights. Good examples are the USA, UK, New Zealand, Australia, Canada and some other countries.

However, it does not mean that the mark is officially protected and that you can sue anyone for misusing your trademark in this case.

SM℠ is used when you sell services and not physical products. It’s not incorrect to use tm symbol ™ if you sell services though. But it is incorrect vice versa. Normally, ℠ is used when you are extremely boring and want to make sure that everyone knows that you sell only services.

Is using ™ Symbol protect your trademark?

It will grant you common law rights in some countries. But in other 180 countries, it will give you absolutely no protection.

Can I use ™ Symbol anywhere I want?

You won’t get sued for this if that’s what you mean. Using ™ doesn’t normally qualify as a false trademark claim. So™ you™ can™ use™ it™ as™ you™ wish™. That’s not as smart as it may look like though.

The R Symbol ®

Usually, using ® means that your trademark is registered in a country. In some countries, however, its use is non-regulated and you can apply it even to unregistered trademarks (Canada is an example). But we do not recommend doing so as this might confuse customers.

In 99% of countries, this symbol stands for word REGISTERED, when your trademark is 100% officially registered. Not pending, not published, not applied for, but registered! Also, this symbol is known as the rights reserved symbol or all rights reserved.

In these countries, if you use the R symbol when your trademark is not registered, you can get into trouble as this is illegal.

Stay safe, use R only when your mark is Registered.

No, you should delete it from your logo when applying. This symbol is unregistrable, no one can get an exclusive right over the ® symbol. This applies to ™ and © as well.

Nope, you do not have to. It was required several decades ago, but according to the new Copyright Rules the protection is granted automatically. How cool is that? You created anything and once it is created it’s your property for your entire life + 70 years - absolutely free. Even a photo of your dog you took with your new iPhone X.

No, you won’t. Using C symbol is not obligatory to claim the copyright protection.
