I actually *love* this interpretation, and its genuinely very close to what actually happens. they were after blue first, since healing fairies are at the top of their list, but since they see vio as well, theyre shoved in the same bottle in a panic. light fairies are an expensive grab, damaged or not, so getting one as quick as possible is ideal. theyre elusive despite being so ungodly bright.

vio IS mad at blue for getting them in this mess. vio DOES yell at him for it. I just never put any thought into it, but i ADORE your thoughts and interpretation I stg

vios too upset to feel any guilt at the time, not until they actually arrive at the trafficking base in kakariko, and he sees whats about to happen on the way in. a small part of him had wanted blue to get what he deserved (aka whatever the fuck they were doing to the healing fairies) and maybe that would teach him a lesson. he never could have guessed what was actually going on and immediately feels bad for wishing that. its genuinely cruel: picture tens of maybe even hundreds of healing fairies stuck in jars, hooked up to some freaky magic machine sucking the blood out of them. it never takes enough to kill, but enough to keep business running and the fairies quiet. 2 per bottle, sometimes even 3. yeah the guilt of realizing how fucked they were because of both of their actions — not just blues, vio didn't bother to make a plan because he was "too busy moping" — hits like a truck.

some never before posted fairy content (I think) since I promised a stinker cough @rileymorph cough id post them

one, being turned into a fairy hurts if anyone was wondering. blue said some very not nice things to a great fairy and she said no. fairy. which really makes his job harder, especially when it happens AGAIN with red and vio. theyre trying to look into fairy trafficking since its been getting worse in hyrule as of late, and also it was requested by one of the local light fairies.

speaking of

light fairies are extremely uncommon to find in hyrule, theyre mainly seen in the lost woods if at all, so theres a target on all of their backs atp when it comes to trafficking. (vios a light fairy, he cant actually fly (something something earth element))

healing fairies are being taken for their blood. their magic is powerful, but mixing the blood of a fairy into a health potion makes them far more effective. so they kind of have an underground fairy blood drive full of unwilling doners. healing fairies really try to restrain their magic usage, because unlike other fairies, if they over do it then thats it for them. no more healing, no more magic, no more flying. they're just a grounded tiny husk of a fairy. its another reason blood is taken from them instead. most fairies had their wings ripped off before being trapped and having their blood extracted until dead. it slowly evolved to keeping them alive as long as possible, so by the time blue and vio arrive fairies are left with their wings intact and just barely kept alive enough to continue to extract blood for years

navigation fairies work just about the same as they do in oot and hyrule warriors. similar to healing fairies, they have an innate urge to help and guide those who they deem are in desperate need of it. usually, they stick around children, but there are some cases where they are known to be seen with adults.

lastly, for context for the first two: vio and blue do wind up getting captured for trafficking (its why blue is covered in blood outside of being injured (prolly got knocked out of the air or something before being bottled)) blue was the target, but vio got caught i the crossfire once they realized what he was

shadow and green are spared from fairydom but since shadow can technically still shapeshift he theoretically could turn into a fairy. you can also see in the second where i changed my mind about blue being a blue fairy once i got more into the lore of things
