Episode one Belinda: breaks up with her boyfriend because he’s a controlling misogynistic prick who wants her to conform to the role of wife and mother, when he later kidnaps her to force her to marry him she calls him an incel and explodes him

okay. i need people to understand the main issue here. ncuti gatwa is the first (full time) black doctor. his entrance was overshadowed by david tennant. his entire run has been the least watched run, many of you admit you did not watch his era. now, after only 16 episodes and a few specials he has regenerated and all people are talking about is billie piper. do you really not see the issue at all? and don't even get me started on what they did to belinda! i'm so BOGGLED by the amount of disrespect thrown at fifteen. he barely got to BE HIS OWN CHARACTER. we barely know him and he's gone. unreal.

People call moffats era misogynistic but it has NOTHING on this. Belinda had a whole set of memories and a life where she was living in a shared house working as a nurse being a woman in her thirties who didn't conform to the patriarchal ideals of motherhood. And that whole version of herself has been erased and replaced by a 'happy ending' when she had a daughter all along. But she didn't have a daughter all along??? Poppy only existed because of conrads wish. Conrad, who wished for a misogynistic, queerphobic, and ableist world. Why is this version where she is a mother the better ending? Why was Belinda and the Doctor's excitement at travelling together when Poppy was being erased framed as something tragic and wrong?? Say what you will about moffat but at least he explored the horror of unexpected motherhood in series 6. Why was Belinda nothing but happy and fulfilled at being a mother?

And how about the most important character in this season starring two leads of colour is the white woman from the previous season! Comes: what if the first ever Black lead of Doctor Who had a shorter run than almost any Doctor in the show's history AND his final scenes were totally overshadowed by not one not two but THREE white women!!! Congratulations to Russell T Davies for never EVER beating the anti-Black racism allegations because his head is so far up his own ass. Christopher Eccleston was right. Fire that fucker.
