The (Christian) religious right that has banded behind Trump is so bizarre to me. The Catholic Church has continuously condemned his behavior. As someone who was Protestant ADJACENT, he continuously displays the opposite of Christlike behavior. Long before he was president, when he was kicking dying AIDS victims out of their apartments, divorcing multiple wives, hoarding wealth. His behavior has gotten worse as his power increased. Being a Christian used to mean believing in community and charity and redemption, believing everyone deserved to eat and be housed and receive medical care and education and working towards those goals. Now the ‘religious right’ cheers on the destruction of families, the loss of healthcare, the loss of educational opportunities, the cutting of social programs.
Jesus gave handouts. Jesus gave free medical care. Jesus saw people as they were and told them they could be redeemed and they followed him for that. These are all things these people are opposed to.

I have long covid.
In 2020 when the pandemic started I was one of the first to become homebound. I took an immunosuppresant due to my autoimmune disorder. As soon as the vaccine became available, I was eligible to get it. I didn't wait. I got it.
I've kept up with the vaccine ever since. Stayed home. Masked. Did what I was supposed to do.
In December (2024) my spouse came home with covid. They also got vaccinated, took precautions. Neither of us had ever had covid before. We social distanced in our own home. They slept in the office, stayed away from me, took their meds and recovered.
Despite doing the best we could, I caught covid from them. It was a short, mild bought of it. I ran a fever for 12 hours, but otherwise it felt like a cold. I swallowed down copious amounts of tea and Dayquil, and slept a lot. I never went to the hospital -- it wasn't serious enough for that.
I recovered, or at least I thought I did. But I was tired. My aphasia got worse. My autoimmune disorder got worse. I could not long manage 40 hours of work a week. It's been 7 months, and I'm honestly thinking it's time to see a doctor about post infection ME/CFS, because my symptoms are not improving.
Wear a fucking mask even if you're healthy. My spouse didn't mean to do this to me. By all rights I did everything I was supposed to. Despite that, I have long covid.
It could happen to you or a loved one of yours too.
All it takes is one infection.

I swear to fucking god. I would claw out OneDrive from my computer if I could. I would burn down their servers if I could. I would run down their stocks to the ground if I could. I hope every single one of their workers gets a better offer from a competitor in the next 24 hours. I hope every single one of their light bulbs explodes at the same time. I hope every single carton of milk in their fridge will always be expired.
Stop backing up my fucking files.
Stop asking me to back up my fucking files.
Stop taking my fucking files off my fucking computer.
I don't want a fucking reminder in three fucking days. Let me fucking say no.
Fuckers.

wow all of these devastating civil rights rollbacks and funding cuts happening the minute Republicans control the government instead of Democrats seems to imply that there's a difference between the parties and elections matter, but no, that can't be, my social media feed filled with my cool internet friends like stalinsimp42069 have been assuring me otherwise for the past decade. Better keep up the Dem bashing

I get an iteration of this ask like once a month, and it's always some form of "why do you care so much about leftist antisemitism when neo nazis exist"
And there are two main reasons.
1. Antisemitism is still antisemitism regardless of who does it. The left isn't less harmful in their antisemitism simply because it's coming from the left.
2. I am a leftist myself and care deeply about the left. Ignoring the harm to jews it causes, it is genuinely scary seeing people on the left abandon leftist values for right wing rhetoric wrapped in a thin cover of leftism.

Like the show and are thinking about reading "The Murderbot Diaries"? Want to skip "All Systems Red" and go straight into book 2? Here's what you should know.
The PresAux crew was condensed from 8 members down to 6 in the show. Volescu and Overse were cut. Pin Lee filled both their roles.
Pin Lee took Volescu's place in the crater that was attacked by alien fauna in episode 1/opening scene of the novel.
Pin Lee takes Overse's place as Arada's marital partner in the show. In the books, Pin Lee appears to be single.
Speaking of Pin Lee, in the books she uses she/her pronouns. The decision to make them non-binary in the show is still a pretty cool one, as we do meet characters who use neo-pronouns and have different gender identities in later books.
Gurathin's backstory is a mystery in the books. In "All Systems Red" he's described as being a quiet, loner type, apart from the rest of the crew. However, he's still clearly liked by the PresAux group, just like in the show.
Gurathin and Murderbot have a much more hot/cold relationship in the show than in the books. Honestly, I always felt like MB was being a dick to Gurathin and hated him for no good reason in the books. The show on the other hand...
While polyamory is the norm in this series, Ratthi does not get involved with Overse and Arada in the books, temporarily or otherwise.
Because of MB's limited perspective in the books, we do not find out Mensah has an anxiety disorder until later books. MB's impression of her is that she's an intrepid galactic leader. Kudos to the show, though, for really showcasing Mensah as an intrepid galactic leader WITH an anxiety disorder.
Leebeebee is a show only addition. In the book, they do not save anyone at DeltFall.
Preservation is a communist freehold planet, but it is independently wealthy. PresAux is doing the survey because they are wealthy enough to afford more resources for their people. In the show, they make it seem like Preservation is desperate enough to send their planetary leader into hardship. In the books, it's because Preservation values all their civil servants still engaging in their profession part time, rather than having full time civil servants and leaders.
I think that's everything? Chime in if I forgot something! I'm glad you liked the show, and I hope reading the books helps you understand just how truly special they are

if you’re a baby trans and you haven’t started smoking cigarettes or vaping yet don’t. it’s actually not that hot or interesting. It will just cause you ungodly frustrations and suffering and cost you a bunch of money and be next to impossible to quit
