Miles stared mulishly at the bubbling pots before him, all easy avenues of conversation done and dusted. He took the pasta pan over to the sink and tossed it in a colander, tossing it to make sure it drained well. Setting it on the side for a minute, he laid out two plates and carefully portioned out the food, taking a moment to make sure it was presented to his standards. (Normally when he was this tired he wouldn't care, but he had an exacting guest to serve). After the sauce was ladled neatly on top, he turned off the hob, fetched some forks and took the plates and cutlery through.

He shot a halfhearted glare at Franziska's boots resting on his poor abused dining table while setting down the meal. Knowing that this would not suffice, he picked up her feet and dropped them over the side. Realising he'd neglected to fetch drinks, he hustled off, returning with two wine glasses and a bottle of something red and vintage. He uncorked and poured it without asking if she wanted any, predicting a favourable response. And, hey, if she didn't, two glasses for him.

"How are you finding Nox?" He asked, falling back on the generic again as he dug into his unfolded cravat pasta-- his farfalle. Yes. That. He definitely mentally referred to it as farfalle and nothing else.

Giving up on finding anything exciting to use as a sauce, Miles just stuck some pureed tomatoes on to warm through and chucked in a random selection of herbs. (Well, not random enough that it wouldn't taste good, but he wasn't paying as much attention to the quantity and balance as he would otherwise.) While doing this, he missed the click-click of heels being placed on a polished surface. 

"My career is progressing admirably," he replied while prodding the pasta with a wooden spoon. "In fact, I've just returned from three weeks abroad helping a colleague with a tricky cross-country case." Some water splashed over the side of the pan from his careless stirring and hissed on the stove. He glared at it.

This is War - Thirty Seconds to Mars (ayyy lmao)

War is declared on the city state of Nox, and all able citizens are drafted in to military. No excuses; everyone able to work to defend is given a role, and they must fight to protect their city from the incoming forces.

Miles Edgeworth, noted for his brilliant abilities as logician, is drafted in as a civilian battle commander to analyse enemy forces and direct the war effort. His adoptive sister, Franziska von Karma, is a fierce and dedicated fighter, and works with him to coordinate the troops on the field. Kyoko Sakura and Nico Di’Angelo are soldiers under Franziska. They look out for each other and are an effective unit, but Kyoko eventually martyrs herself to protect Nico on a key mission, and Nico is left a heartbroken victim of the war.

Eventually their efforts, as well as the efforts of the rest of Nox’s citizens, lead to the war being won and the enemy forces beating a retreat. The sun shines down on the ravaged streets; it’s won, but at what cost?
