The “Log Off Protest” is Over! 

You can log back in now. You can reblog, like, or do whatever you want with posts!

This protest was a huge success! Together, we had easily over 1,000 tweets calling action on issues ranging from the NSFW ban to the awful dashboard color change. We even dropped Verizon’s stock once again!

Phase Three was a great success, and the Log Off Protest was an incredible milestone. Thousands of users banded together to make their voices heard on the awful treatment received by Staff. We made our way onto articles, dropped stock, and founded a community.

I thank you all for these incredible past months. When I made the original protest, I had no idea it would be this huge. I was just some college student who worked 24 hours a week and was trying to get through the semester. But with your help, we fought hard. We fought well.

However, I am ending the Log Off Protest.

I only anticipated three phases from the start. The “fourth phase” would simply be deleting, or logging off forever. This is a choice you have to make for yourself. We have completed so much together, and it is time for me to focus on my studies, work, and myself.

I have not openly spoken of myself, but I have mental illnesses. I’ve been diagnosed with depression and anxiety, and this time of the year is always difficult. My mental health has been struggling for the past months, and the stress of leading a protest only adds to this. There is no shame in speaking of your mental health and taking time for yourself.

Despite the protest ending, it does not mean the fight is over. I highly encourage you all to fight together and continue working in unity. Make your own protest. Make your own hashtag and community. Make your voices heard! This does not end here. If anything, the Log Off Protest was merely a beginning to something much greater.

The ‘Tumblr Thieves’ Discord will remain active, but invites will be closed. The Twitter and Tumblr blog will be archived and the ask box/submission box will be closed. I will not be replying to any tweets or dms on the protest.

Thank you all for your support. Thank you all for fighting beside me. I am so grateful for you all, and it was an honor leading you.

Log off for an entire week NOW!

Do not log back in until February 8, 12 am EST. Make sure to log off on ALL accounts! Do not just close out the app. Log out completely.

Make sure to tweet to the following EVERY DAY of the protest telling them WHY you’re protesting. Tag each tweet with #phasethree2019!

How many blogs do you estimate are gonna protest for a week? How many do we need to be effective?

If everyone who follows me does it along with everyone who reblogged the F.A.Q and announcement post, then at least 4,000 if not more. Hopefully, this will be enough.

What else can I do to help the protests without logging out? I realized how badly I need Tumblr when I logged off for a whole day, and I can't imagine an entire week. I wish I could, but I just can't... But if there's any other way I can help, I wanna know

Please turn off ads and don’t interact with posts if you can’t log off. You can do this by downloading Adblock or getting the X-Kit extension “Anti-Capitalism.” Don’t like or reblog anything, or don’t post anything if you can’t log off.

Do you have a template for reporting the app on google play? Sorry, just my brains fried after finals and cant think at all rn

I don't want to give a specific template as it could be branded as spam, which would hurt our efforts. But basically just talk about your experiences on Tumblr and why you think it's hateful/abusive!

Do i have to log off on all of my medias? I'm active on my ipad, phone and pc. not sure i can log of on all them time.

So uh... the mobile update? Do you know of anyways of fixing it? I personally already needed my brightness to be very low and now it's still way too bright

Some people have suggested a blue light filter, although I'm not too sure. Does anyone have suggestions?
