emphasizing different things

both noel and liam have spoken about the more... 'unconventional' side of their relationship. but they differ in what they choose to emphasize.

noel almost always emphasizes the ‘illegal’ aspect of it. he’s basically letting everyone know he can break the rules and get away with it. liam is a mere accessory in this situation. he’s the coke in the ‘coke in my cereal’ joke, a mere tool noel uses to convey edginess. noel is like a teenager who’s bragging about getting hammered or doing drugs for the first time.

'take me' is an achingly romantic song. it's not a whore anthem at all...

a beautifully candid monument to first love (and - in hindsight - holding the torch to said first love for decades...).

the last verse is riveting. liam is nuts for calling it rubbish. it's art

i tried to investigate the strange comment made by thomas g (about liam ‘not kissing him’):

looks like it’s from late august 1996:

meaning, it’s from after the loch lomond gig in early august (with all them papers littered with photos of liam and noel kissing). is that what thomas is referring to? but… he met them way before that. his post-dublin-gig encounter with liam and noel took place in MARCH 1996.

so, explanation no 1: when thomas met liam in march 1996, he didn’t say anything about kissing to him. however, he would later see the loch lomond pics in the papers and, with these pics in mind, made up that part of the dialogue in his august 1996 interview.

explanation no 2: he really did say the ‘if you don’t kiss me’ thing to liam in march 1996 and the context for this remains unclear.

so there are a few things that make me think liam is a SA survivor:

i can't help but think 'wtf is wrong with all these men surrounding him?!'... i also think it was very easy for noel to take advantage of what liam has said was his greatest fear as a youngster ('his mom and brothers being unhappy').

this is my opinion as well. i can't root for a 'reunion' (of any kind) in light of decades worth of abuse.

Not to like... Relate to Liam or anything, but damn it really is the unsung plight of the younger sibling to protect the elder from everything they did to fuck us up. Like, maybe it's just me, but out of pure love I physically cannot let my older brother know the dangerous seeds he planted in me, even when it's behavior he unfairly criticiseS, not realizing they're his fault. And sometimes I imagine it's the same for Liam. Do you think he ever had the heart to tell Noel how bad he made him feel sometimes? Did he ever hold the cricket bat incident over Noel's head? Or his drug habit? Or their possibly less-than-normal relationship? Or did Liam hold everything inside himself thinking Noel's been through enough, he doesn't need to know what he's put me through because I know it's not on purpose.
