why is sansa stark hating so common. like she's a little girl. she's terrified, she's trapped, she's being handed from one pedophile to the next, she saw her dad's head get cut off, she's alone, all her siblings are dead, her mom is dead, she's 11 years old, she's supposed to be making rubber band loom bracelets and listening to one direction, she's just a kid. all the most evil characters in the book hate her for no reason other than she's ned's kid. she's also a very smart, polite, and kind girl. she's preppy in the first book, but her greatest sin is what? being a girl? being a little girl? being a bit snooty (which she quickly gets beaten out of her anyway)? yall are horrible

i think about this interview of james spader very often. not only because it explains a lot of his behavior and thoughts but also it explains mine too. i love him for speaking for us, the freaks "i'm just drawn to particularities in life. i'm interested in perversity, i'm interested in oddity, i'm curious about taboos, i'm curious about secrets, that's what interest me and so those were tend to be what i looked for" ♥

one of the things I like most about Sansa is the fact that she Isn't the perfect victim. She can be selfish and jealous and isolated and scared and angry and yet none of that removes the fact that she's a pre-teen political hostage facing horrific abuse at the hands of people who could take her life at a whim. her povs carry such a strong paranoia of being watched and fear of doing Wrong and being punished that she boxes herself into the role of the little bird, pretty and demure and quiet, and while characters like Tyrion are fooled, we know what's going through Sansa's mind, her anger towards Joffrey (which she voices once! and gets hit for), her jealousy towards Margaery and her cousins for being allowed to be naïve while Sansa herself is being forced to grow up too soon, her isolation and discomfort at court and selfish (though not unfair) anger towards Arya and Ned (and Joffrey and Cersei) for Lady's death in Nymeria's place. Sansa's flaws makes her story of surviving said abuse much more real, because there are no truly 'perfect victims' irl, each and every one will have their flaws, and understanding that none of those flaws make the faced abuse justified is very important I feel

“As the boy’s lips touched her own she found herself thinking of another kiss. She could still remember how it felt, when his cruel mouth pressed down on her own. He had come to Sansa in the darkness as green fire filled the sky. He took a song and a kiss, and left me nothing but a bloody cloak.”

I’ve been thinking about Jon and his parentage and how much I believe George put the answers to questions in his POV. But the main one that’s sticking out to me is how Jon meets Ygritte for the first time. He’s sent to capture and kill Ygritte not knowing she’s a woman and is shocked and later after letting her go he says “would be father approve of that?” I’m paraphrasing of course. But it makes me think that when Rhaegar was sent to capture the knight of the laughing tree something extremely similar happened. And Jon saying “would my father approve of that?” is ironic because he’s thinking of Ned when George is really being cheeky and making it about rhaegar. The answer is yes, Jon your father would approve of that because that’s how he met your mom.
