I saw someone on here say that because corona is an old fashioned and very religious kingdom varian would struggle with some internalized homophobia when realizing he's in love with Hugo so I kinda wanted to depict that here . Why is drawing my faves suffering lowkey cathartic for me

The better question is how is Hugo dying his hair in the 1700's.

Anyway my thought is that Varian's from the kingdom where the princess's defining feature was her magical glowing hair, and said kingdom was briefly taken over by someone with somewhat magical blue hair. I don't think he quite realizes how weird it is to have one streak of natural blue hair until he actually leaves Corona and sees the distinct lack of people with weird colored hair.
