This is Shrek who was - if you’ll forgive the pun - on the lamb for 6 years. He didn’t get sheared for 6 years.
Does that look comfortable? See how matted it is, how crusty and gross it is. That shit don’t breathe once it’s like that, giving a nice little breeding ground to all sorts of bacteria that will gladly fuck up his skin. The same thing happens to people and dogs with matted hair. Have you ever watched a dog rescue where they shave a matted dog and he’s got infection lurking underneath because it’s damp and hot and perfectly sheltered for bacteria?
Domestic sheep need to be sheared. It’s not negotiable. They’re not made to be able to survive in the wild that’s why they’re Domestic.
Peel your sheeps
also: I do see an occasional skin nick in the crowd but I wonder if dude from above is confusing their red ear tags for blood scrapes?

repeatedly getting asked how to draw the ducks’ beaks and the truth is I’m still learning how to do it myself! these are some notes I made to help myself though so maybe you’ll be able to understand them???
I imagine the cartoon beaks to be very flexible but kind of ‘meaty’, like pliable leather or fabric stretched over a strong but bendy plastic/wire/foam structure

I haven’t used Manic Panic - I use Ion Color Brilliance Brights - but I imagine they work roughly the same. Which is to say, oil breaks down the dye and keeps the color from adhering to the hair strands. And I bleach mine (my hair is dark dark brown so I gotta to get any color to show) so obvs your mileage may vary.
So what I’ve had good success with is this:
Start with a clarifying shampoo.  (post-bleach if you’re bleaching. Don’t wash your hair before bleaching, the natural oils protect your scalp from chemical burns)
Add your color - sometimes I add a little conditioner or coconut oil to my color mix but that does seem to make it fade faster.
Rinse and seal. I’ve been using Ion Color Defense for mine.
Now, the tradeoff is this: the sealer uses silicone to make a barrier around your hair so the dye stays put, so it does change the texture of your hair. My blue color lasted a good three months with minimal fade for me this way, but it definitely wasn’t as soft and brushable as it usually is when I’m letting it fade. Conditioners don’t really get through the color seal to moisturize your hair, because the oil in the conditioner and the natural oils your skin produces is what makes the color fade. It says to re-seal it every week but I only used it twice and it took it a couple months to wash out enough to start showing a significant amount of fading.
Again, mileage may vary not all hair textures are the same. Trial and error is a little bit inevitable.
Hey modmad, I recently tried manic panic and it's all but washed out in a week! Gone from dark (like sonic but darker) blue to lavender! Do you have any tips for me? I'm still v new to dye
Woah! That’s surprising, I haven’t used all the dyes in their range tbh but that sounds like either a) your hair hasn’t taken the dye well, which can be helped either by bleaching the hair first and/or leaving the dye on for longer when you colour, or b) you might want to go easy when you’re washing it- I only shampoo once then condition, rather than the old lather-rinse-repeat pattern, but then I have short hair so I can get away with it. Some dyes do just wash out quicker than others, and some folks put some of the dye into their conditioner so they top it up with every shower to counter that, but those are the best tips I can give you! Also like, idk maybe try another colour if it keeps happening ‘cause that’s a bummer my pal.

Something I’ve found that also does the trick of feeling secure without the weight is this comforter from the kids section of Target
Tumblr media
It maaaaay not be to everyone’s aesthetic with the shiny foil stars but it’s jersey knit so - in my experience with it - it retains zero heat. It’s so breathable and it’s sooo cool and it’s sooo fluffy puffy and snuggly that I can just burrow into it even on days when it’s like 75 degrees at 6am and it’s the best summer comforter I think I’ve ever had and I recommend it to basically everyone if you’ve got a queen size bed or smaller.
I wish there was some sort of blanket you could cover yourself with but it didn’t make you warm it just provided the sensation of being covered because some nights it’s just too hot for a blanket but I need something covering me so it’s a choice between boiling to death or being completely vulnerable to monsters

shading colour tips
hey yall its me the Art Mom™ to help you shade pretty
rule 1: DO NOT SHADE WITH BLACK. EVER. IT NEVER LOOKS GOOD.
red- shade with a slightly darker shade of purple
orange- slightly darker and more saturated shade of red
yellow- i think like..a peach could work but make it a really light peach
green- shade with darker and less saturated shade of blue or teal
blue- shade with purple
purple- a shade thats darker than the purple you’re using and maybe a little pink (MAYBE blue)
pink- darker shade of red
white- a really light lavender or blue..or i guess any really light colour??
black- okay listen dont use pure black to colour anything unless you want to leave it with flat colours because you cant really shade black lol
grey- a slightly darker shade of purple or blue (less saturated)
brown- slightly darker and less saturated shade of purple or red
aaaaand thats all i got lol. let me know if there is anything i should add to this list!!

Careful with those noodles, hon
Guys, I keep seeing that post going around about putting uncooked spaghetti noodles in your tablet pen to work as replacement nibs, and I know OP means well and stuff, but PLEASE DON’T DO THAT.
Pasta, no matter how smooth it is, is still a product of dry flour, and rubbing it down on a surface creates micro-sized grit that will scratch up your screen faster than any tablet nib, and they wear down even faster, so it won’t even be worth it. Also, it’s so brittle, if it breaks inside the pen, it will be difficult to clean it out.
Tablet nibs are a pain to replace and buy, but buying a 10 pack of them for $7-8 on Amazon is going to be a better choice than having to pay a heftier sum to repair a scratched up tablet surface/screen.
Spread this post if you can, because I’d really hate to see someone accidentally damage their tablets this way.

Concept: fantasy world where dragons are A Thing™ but instead of them being these rare, semi-legendary creatures who exist solely to terrorise and wreak havoc and mayhem and burn inconveniences to a crisp they’re like… dogs… vaguely domesticated cats…
They come in loads of sizes and it’s a common thing to hear them scritching across your roof or rummaging in your garbage. You pass by like four every time you go to the market.
There’s even some snoozing at market stalls and strays playing with children and stealing scraps of food that fall in the street, with mottled scales and mixed textures of feathers and mismatched jewel colours.
Your favourite baker has three tiny western diamondtips who are in charge of keeping the ovens fired up and don’t always eat all of the bread. Sometimes.
Linda Bagshot on the corner has a ground rooster who can’t fly but always reaches up and stretches her neck out as far as she can to try and scrounge pets as you pass her garden wall.
A local inn is named after its summer aura who is the length of the room, all careful length and soft scales, with breath perfumed like spring breeze and scales that emanate just enough warmth to comfort, just enough that you won’t fall asleep, just enough that it’s tempting nonetheless.
The school you went to has a forest guardian older than the town itself who spends all his time slowly ambling down the corridors, and his favourites are the kids learning their first letters who like to read to him, sound out letters and marks that don’t have any correlation just yet, and you know that nobody has conclusively proven that dragons understand human tongues but you also know that if anyone understands, it’s him.
There’s a festival of dragons, a public holiday where banners are strewn and candles glow even into the wee hours and rainbow confetti and paint clogs the streets and maybe some overexcited babies set things alight but that’s ok, the town prepared better this year, far fewer people will lose their gardens and eyebrows this time, they promise.
And yes ok, there are big dragons. Ferocious dragons. Dragons that only come out once every ten years to feed and pillage. Dragons who rule the seas and shake mountains, who take flight and block out the stars. There are reasons you don’t go into the woods at night, reasons some wells are avoided, reasons entire villages up and vanished without a trace.
But there are also dragons who curl up with your children to rock them to sleep, and ward off nightmares. There are dragons who open doors and fetch supplies and guide those without sight. There are dragons who mimic words and whistles and delight in your joy when they get them just right.
There are dragons who adopt orphaned piglets, kittens, lambs, calves, puppies, ducklings. There are dragons who sunbathe and dragons who need kept on ice and dragons who climb atop weather vanes in storms to conduct electricity. Dragons who sparkle like jewels in the light and dragons who glow in the dark and dragons with flora creeping in and around their scales and dragons who sound like windchimes when they fold their wings.
Concept: there are dragons.
There are so many dragons.
