hi friends,

I won’t be using my social media accounts anymore -  at least for quite a while. it’s been a long time coming. 

new work is happening, of course. I need some level of isolation to maintain the focus I’m after. I’m eager to begin planning another installation, and start submitting to galleries again for the first time in a while. 

while I step back from my online presence, I will still be posting on patreon, where I’ve just posted a video tour of my filled sketchbook (my first voiceover!) and will soon be sharing some behind the scenes information on the process of binding three new ones.

I’m really looking forward to sharing more of my process over there. the support I’ve gotten so far is so very appreciated, and it’s been nice to have a place to share slightly longer-form content. I think you will like what’s to come.

my birthday was on monday, and my wonderful partner Peter surprised me with a scanner. I’ve gotten my 5+ year old 35mm film rolls developed, and I am over the moon to finally be able to work with film again. and, as you may know, I’m renovating a found dollhouse. the automatic drawing experiments also continue, and I’ve got paintings in the back of my mind again. it’s all connected. to see these things as they happen, patreon access starts at $3. the work will be shared publicly later on, but I’m leaning into seclusion until it is time. what that being said, if there is a gallery in a city near you that you’re especially fond of, please reach out - I’m seeking to expand my range of consideration when it comes to doing shows.

there are also only three days left to pre-order prints of my moth paintings! these signed 11x14” giclée prints on textured paper are ONLY available for pre-order and will NOT be for sale after (being a small artist means producing prints up front is not always financially possible - doing pre-orders allows me to offer prints when I otherwise couldn’t afford production costs). pre-orders end april 30th. prints will be shipped flat by june 30th. preorder here.

since my next batch of insect paintings has been put on hold, I've been looking into making a set of prints of the original set. right now I am deciding how to lay them out, and I wanted to see what you guys think! here are two versions of one of the prints.

I admired the doll you made (with your own hair), so I used her as the subject of this this painting, hoping you don't mind my "borrowing" your haunting idea...

oh!!!!! this is incredible, thank you for sharing. truly, i absolutely love this, the atmosphere really resonates with me. i like the way the sharp brush stroke lines complement the texture of the hair, there is a haze but a grit at the same time. the composition reminds me of a painting I did a few years ago with a shadowy version of myself and a loved one peering from windows.

it feels like our paintings are friends. again thanks for sharing

tier one: diary - $3

see the process behind my artwork through sketchbook tours, real-time process videos, step-by-step walkthroughs, looks around my studio, and weekly newsletters sharing more about the thoughts that go into it all and the methods I use. on average, two to three posts will be uploaded per week.

tier two: postcard - $5

receive a handmade postcard in the mail each month, with a hand-written message addressed to you. imagery will be a surprise and medium will vary. past postcards have included print-making, collage, drawing, and painting. please note: this postcard will be stamped and sent through the mail without an envelope. the wear of its postal journey is an intended part of the experience. this tier is open internationally and includes access to the “diary” tier.

tier three: package - $25

a surprise piece of artwork on your doorstep each month. medium will vary, and may include: drawings, photographs, small sculptures, postcard sets, and more. the art piece will be accompanied by a letter, and sometimes something extra as well, such as a mini-print. this tier is open to u.s. addresses only and includes access to the “diary” tier

tier four: package + postcard - $29

this tier includes two deliveries per month: a postcard and a package. see tiers two and three for details about each. this tier is open to u.s. addresses only and includes access to the “diary” tier

tier five: package + postcard (international) - $37

(this tier is for addresses outside of the US) with the international tier, postcards are sent monthly, and packages are sent every other month. inside the bi-monthly package, you will find two pieces of original artwork accompanied by a letter, and possible extras, such as mini-prints. medium will vary, and may include: drawings, photographs, small sculptures, postcard sets, and more. see tier two for details about the monthly postcard. this tier also includes access to the “diary” tier.
