Over the weekend I got to play "Rental" a short horror game on Steam by @lonely-house It was incredibly good. I took some liberty in drawing the protagonist Umi, as a human in a retro style horror comic. Check the game out! It's completely free, can't wait what the devs do next!

1. We'll have 2 winners, one will be voted among the devs, the other will be chosen by popular vote on our discord server. Each winner will get a 15.000CLP/15USD STEAM giftcard as a prize.

2. All mediums are permitted: digital, traditional, pixel art, 3D, plasticine, etc. NO use of AI though. You don't need to be a skilled artist to participate ^^

3. No NSFW. You can have blood for spookiness but no outright gore.

4. Send your submissions through the fanart contest channel on our discord server. Feel free to post them on the Artwork tab on Steam too, if you like.

5. Deadline is 15 April 23:59, Chilean time (19:59 PST). Winners will be announced on that week.

Just finished playing Rental and it was a little, fun experience!! the game made me chuckle at bits I loved the graphics,atmosphere music and sound, pretty much everything. Umi is so adorable, I grew fond of the companion in the house too, jajaja I got happy seeing the spanish option, and even happier learning you where from Chile! So glad to see a latam studio with this kind of vision, cant wait to see more content from you Will you mantain using cute animals in future games?

Played Rental yesterday and it was awesome and very fun! I love the aesthetic and the concept (it reminded me of childhood nightmares) and the uncanniness of icons with humans existing alongside these cute mascot animals :)

i love that mix, as one of the artists i think i was very influenced by one time i was playing animal crossing and found this human model on my friend's island. i thought the difference in proportions was hilarious, along with its bizarre implications about the ac world

thank you! :)

rental is our first incursion into horror as a team, since our other, main label is about cozy games. it had an unexpectedly great reception on itchio, so we wanted to update it to be lonely house's first official release. we're very happy with the reception it's got now, too

as you can see, our style of horror ends up being pretty silly and comedic too, and we wanna continue exploring this duality.

some little fun facts i can say are -many of the assets, including all the religious objects and the house itself are taken directly from pictures of the beach house where we gathered to make the game. the owners were very religious and some of the decorations bordered on bizarre. -while there's no plan to expand rental any further, the protagonist, umi, may be making an apparition in a future game (kudos if you find a certain artwork that contains her)
