Unholy Prayer
Remember how I was doing drawings inspired on Starset's new songs? Yeah, I didn't forget about that, I just had a weird year and now I've gotta play catch up xD
Anyway, picking up things where I left them with 'dark things', I've had the idea for it pretty much since it came out, but life has a way of getting in the way, so I couldn't actually put it on paper until now. I'm pretty happy with how it came out, specially the lyrics' halo, which was a lat addition but one I'm really glad I made :3
So yeah, another song down, 3 more to go... except the album is coming the 12th of September with new stuff and I'm DEFINITELY not gonna be caught up by then, so you can expect other stuff in between (specially now that I have a working tablet again). Hope you'll continue to enjoy my unpredictable chaos tho!

Alright, I initially planned to wait until I got this resolved through the consumer affairs office to get a new tablet, but two important points overlapped:
1) They're actually closed for the whole month of August, and even once I can get to them in September I can't be certain that they'll be able to find a solution to this or how long that will take.
2) My family kinda banded together: someone offered to pay for a new tablet in advance if I wanted to, someone else found me a good deal going on right now. And because I'm gonna need a new tablet regardless of how things go with the consumers affairs office, I ended up getting it now rather than waiting for later.
Tumblr media
(here's the new thing, in case you were curious)
I'm still gonna get an appointment with the consumer affairs office as soon as September comes, because like hell I'm gonna let business get away with this shit without at least trying first, but now I'll be less frustrated about waiting times.
So yeah! I'll let you know how that goes, but in the meanwhile I guess I'll be getting back to digital art ^^
Hey everyone!!
You might've noticed that I haven't been the most active since the year started (as if that's news, lol). This is due to two reasons:
Number 1 is, as always, my health kicking my ass. Chronic illness is a bitch, 0 stars, do not recommend.
Number 2, however, is that my tablet has been malfunctioning since its last update and nothing I've tried to fix it is working. I'm in the process of getting tech support about it. I've been low-key scared of using my tablet by how often and randomly it freezes and reboots in a loop, so for a while I'll be switching to traditional… which I enjoy but takes more time to do on account of it straining my joints more and me having to take more and longer breaks between drawing sessions. Maybe I can digitalize some sketches with my phone as well.
But anyway, wish me luck so that I may go on remission and have my tablet fixed soon 🤞🏼💕

Drawing faces: 2015 vs 2025
Today I bring you an art comparison because I've been drawing a lot of headshots lately and it made me think of how much progress I've made since I started posting my art online and how blatantly obvious my same face syndrome used to be xD
So, 2015, teenager me has been drawing for 4 years and is not learning the basics, has not done a single study in her life, and keeps forgetting about the fact references exist. Keeping all this in mind, I don't think she did half bad. But it is blatantly obvious that I was heavily influenced by the 2000s anime and knew how to draw all of one (1) face. My characters were overwhelmingly white (and skinny, even though that's not as blatantly obvious from the headshots alone) and at least a solid 90% were female characters.
Fast forward to 2025! An adult now, whether I have learnt the basics is debatable, I still don't really do studies because I find them boring, but I do remember about references now! (God bless them!! 🙏🏼❤️) And would you look at that, people actually have different facial features! Hair textures! Skin tones! There are male characters! (and fat characters although, again, not as evident in headshots alone).
So! I'm really happy with the progress I've made in the last ten years :3 I obviously still have a lot to learn (specially in regards to drawing different body types, because if it took me long to snap out of same face syndrome it took me even longer to snap out of same body syndrome), but I'm confident with my journey, even if I don't go about learning art the usual/serious way (I'm just here to have fun, not to be a pro).
Here's to another 10 years of drawing!~

🗣️?
Thanks for the ask! :D (from this ask game)
🗣️ What's something you want people to know about your characters overall?
Okay so, ahem, 📢 ALL OF THEM ARE QUEER!!!
Most of my characters are bi or pan, and those who are not are ace and/or aro (are monosexual people a thing? Not in this house! Closest you get is bi people with very strong preferences).
A good few of them are also trans/non-binary/genderqueer. And most if not all of them are polyamorous.
Oh, and JAGR has its own view on gender, sex, and sexuality that differs from the modern western view and doesn't even follow a gender binary system. All of them would still be queer viewed through our modern western lens tho, so my point still stands.

Thanks for the ask! :D (from this ask game)
🤕 What kinds of scars are you most likely to give your characters?
Alright, I may give them any kind, but the most common is for them to end up emotionally scarred. There's many ways in which you can mess up with the psyche of someone and I really love to explore all the different ways in which someone might break through fiction. It's interesting and can be really cathartic, and I'm just a sucker for angst as well, I will not deny that.
So yeah, most of my characters will go/have gone through some horror or other and come out changed because of it. And then I can really dig in on how exactly were they changed, how it broke them, how are they trying to put themselves back together, and how well is that going for them. Are their coping mechanisms helping them? Or are they actually making things worse? In which ways can two people that have experienced the same horror come out scarred in different ways? Ohhh, the possibilities! I love human psychology~
Literal, physical scars are totally cool as well btw. I just find myself having more opportunities to break my characters' minds rather than their bodies lol.

🐲 bestow your lore upon us
Thanks for the ask! :D (from this ask game)
🐲 Aside from human, what sort of beings would you say most of your characters are? (Vampires, fairies, anthro, etc) If they're all human, what might you hypothetically go for?
Most of my characters are human across  fandoms and original stories both. However! I've been known to include fae, demons, merfolk, and I even have some ideas for vampires (though I've done nothing with them yet).
I also have two (2) characters that are shapeshifter animals that can shift between feral and humanoid forms. They're part of a world I have with a friend.
I also like dabbling with gods in my stories, which can take a human shape if they want to but whose true form is nothing human-like (I haven't introduced any on here tho).
But, my dear Fae, you mentioning lore makes me think you're giving me an opportunity to infodump on JAGR, so that's what I shall do! xD  We have 3 main categories in there:
1) Ordinary mortals: otherwise known as totally normal humans. That's it. Easy enough.
2) God-touched: this can be just humans with extraordinarily long lifespans, enhanced resistance/healing, and strong but limited powers, HOWEVER!! God-touched people can also be non-human/have non-human traits, and that's how mythical creatures factor in in this retelling. I currently have a gorgon, a centaur, and a minotaur. There will also be different types of shapeshifters. There's A LOT of variety in this category, but something common to all god-touched people (beyond the long lifespans and limited powers) is they have golden blood instead of red.
3) Gods incarnate: gods in the Land of Plenty are nature itself, but in Ancient Times they sometimes took vaguely humanoid shapes to interact with mortals. Despite the vaguely human forms they were very evidently not human on account of being made out of pure sunlight, or a piece of nightsky, or the depths of the ocean, and so on and on.
So yeah, TL;DR, mostly human characters, and a small percentage of non-human-but-still-mostly-humanoid characters xD

💇
Thanks for the ask! :D (from this ask game)
💇 When designing your character's appearance, is there any particular process?
Mmmore or less... I'm a very chaotic artist, so it varies a bit, but mostly it goes like this: get the spark for a character idea (this can be anything from a physical trait, to a skill, to a specific role in the story, and sometimes it's more than one thing simultaneously), look at/figure out what their role in the story (or vague scenario, if I'm not doing a proper story) is and what their life looks like, and build it up from there. Also, scrolling through image results for inspiration (I do not have pinterest xD).
The specifics, however, can and do vary. For example (using JAGR characters since that's my most recent project):
With Icarus the spark was pretty developed already, and I had this scrawny white man who works as a somewhat reckless clockpunk engineer. I decided to give him an outfit that focused on being comfortable, and practical, and mildly protective, and that he wouldn't miss when he inevitably tore it to shreds and had to replace it. A nice and straightforward process!
With Apollo all I knew is I wanted the character to be 'Sun', Icarus' love interest, he wasn't even specifically Apollo yet. Because a lot of 'Icarus and the Sun' retellings have Sun be a woman despite the greek gods associated with the Sun being male, I made him a man. Because male love interests are usually white muscular dudes with traditionally masculine interests, I made him a black bulky belly dancer. Because belly dancers are often portrayed as skinny, I made him fat. Because make up is regarded as a thing for women, well... You see the pattern here, yes? Sometimes being contrarian on purpose is part of the character creation. Give him a nice belly dancer outfit that matches his fabulous performer self and some golden accesories to drive the sun point home, and there you have it!
And of course there's also characters that I design just for fun, in which case the process is to put a bunch of stuff I think looks cool together (and pray that I don't end up designing some scenario for the cool looking character because this wasn't supposed to happen... this was the case with this drawing leading to Airia).

🥀 Ariadne~
Thanks for the ask!~ (from this ask game)
🥀 (wilted flower) - How does your character deal with stressful situations? Is their fear response fight, flight, freeze or fawn?
Alright, so, growing up in her own brand of a dysfunctional family, Ariadne soon learnt that fawning was a sure way to get your wishes and needs ignored and stepped on, and freezing didn't help, so she chose fight where she could and flight when she knew she didn't stand a chance. She became distant and kept to her own, and learnt to be selfish and assertive and to tolerate no bullshit. Her first impulse is to fight, but she knows when to flight (as much as she can) from a situation when she needs to as well.
As for dealing with stress: she makes plans. She knows no situation can last forever, so she makes plans for how to end them, or how to weather them until they pass, and for what to do after.
She knew, for example, that her father wouldn't rule forever, that what he did to Asterion was a well-known secret and soon someone would came to strip his position out of him. She knew that she couldn't be forced to inherit the position; things didn't work like that anymore, and while she technically had the training, surely people would rather keep the whole family out of any ruling positions. So she made plans for how to survive, and she made plans for what she would do once she was actually free to do as she pleased, and how would she approach Asterion, who she loved and missed deeply but hadn't been able to save.
These plans give her something to do, and something to look forward to, like a lifeline. She tries to go about them logically and isn't always very considerate of others in them, but it's never out of malice, it's just quite literally the coping mechanism that she had to come up with for survival. She may indeed have some relearning to do tho.

🚨 Apollo?
Thanks for the ask!~ (from this ask game)
🚨 (siren) - What’s your character’s relationship with the law? Have they ever been arrested? What for? What are their opinions on law enforcement?
This is a difficult question because I have not yet figured out how law enforcement works in this world. My own damn fault for doing an ask game this early into developing the story/world, really xD
Alright, first off, Apollo doesn't follow the law, he is the law, The Land of Plenty is a big territory that's divided into smaller areas, each with its own ruler/leader and, to a certain degree, its own way to do and enforce laws (some stuff is common throughout, tho). So living in Olympus will be a very different experience to living in Ithaca or Delphi.
Now, Apollo is god-touched and has been around for a long time (on account of god-touched people having very, very long lifespans), which means he was around during the Dark Times after Kronos was defeated and Zeus ruled the Land of Plenty by his own, like Kronos did before him, but trying to be less tyrannical about it. And Apollo basically... tolerated this whole situation. He wasn't happy that Zeus had absolute power, but he also wasn't gonna try to challenge it. I have the feeling that he might have had his more rebellious phase when he was younger, but nothing serious. This went on until someone dear to him died during a war commanded by Zeus. Apollo had reluctantly been fighting at Zeus side until then (because one does not simply oppose Zeus' will), but that death was the last straw for him, and he basically ended up storming into the palace and threatened to kill Zeus if he didn't let him go and has basically not given a fuck about Zeus since, him being the ruler of Olympus be damned.
I'll have to figure out what consequences there were for this, if any, and if there weren't any, why.
Fast forward to the present, Zeus doesn't rule the entire Land of Plenty by his own, just Olympus alongside Hera, aaaand Apollo hasn't lived in Olympus in a long long time. The Times of Peace are doing wonders for him and I don't think he currently has any problems with the law, he's chill.
Now, I feel the need to point out that the Land of Plenty is a fictional world that has nothing to do with ancient Greece or any real life place at any point in history (maybe I'll take inspiration from different places/times for worldbuilding, but my point stands). Which is to say if he did live in our world and age he'd have a stack of ACAB stickers and he would stick them on every available surface.

👠 Odysseus
Thanks for the ask!~ (from this ask game)
👠 (heels) - How does your oc dress? Are they stylish or casual? Do they keep up with trends or do their own thing? Do they prefer designer clothes or going to the thrift store? Do they have a signature item of clothing?
Odysseus is a comfy, practical kind of guy. Short tunic + sandals for warm weather, long tunic + boots + cloak in cold weather. Light colours for the tunic, dark colours for the shoes and cloak. He's not really concerned with being trendy or fancy.
Now, following ancient greek fashion, his tunics are done with a big square piece of fabric and minimal sewing, and he makes do with about any available piece of fabric and can do the sewing himself, no fancy tailoring required. He does like, however, to have a meander pattern embroidered on the edges. That he does not know how to make himself, so either he takes the clothing to a tailor, or Penelope generouly offers to do the embroidering herself.
JAGR will be a comic (why do I do this to myself), so his signature piece of clothing is the outfit that I'll be drawing him with panel after panel xD (an off-white, over-the-knee tunic with a blue meander-like pattern on the edges, a dark brown belt, and dark brown calf-long sandals, see it here)
However! There is an exception to this comfy practical worldview into clothing, and that is he might dress more fancy for special occassions and/or nights out <3 This is totally not because I want to draw him in a dress at some point. Nope. No siree. It's a ver important part of his character that we'll be exploring another day (it's self-indulgent fanservice)

🍓 Penelope
Thanks for the ask!~ (from this ask game)
🍓 (strawberry) - Does your oc believe in anything? Are they superstitious? Religious? Atheistic? Has anything in their past made them this way?
Okay, to answer this first I need to share a bit of lore.
I've already said that JAGR is not accurate to the classic myths, and this is true to such an extent that the gods don't even work the same in this retelling. Here the gods are the world/nature, which I guess would mean the Primordials and some of the Titans are indeed gods in this story, but the Olympics are "just" people with very long lifespans and strong but limited powers. The actual gods haven't incarnated since the Ancient Times, they're just part of the world that people live in, and god-touched people are not considered gods, just blessed (or cursed) by them.
So, religion is a little different on The Land of Plenty because of this reason. It's kinda difficult not to believe in the gods when you consider nature itself to be godly. Worship is a little bit different too, there are no organized churches, although there are a couple big festivities that virtually everyone follows.
Now, with that out of the way. Penelope believes in the gods in the same way that most people do in The Land of Plenty: gods are not human-like, the land itself is divine. She honours them during the big festivities, but worship isn't otherwise a big part of her life. It just never was this way during her upbringing, and currently she is more concerned with being a good leader to her people than including worship of the gods in her daily life.
That said, when Odysseus' fleet shipwrecked (and time went by without any news of him, good or bad), I believe she did honour the Ocean more often than she would otherwise do, including small offers/acts of worship in her daily life, hoping that it would be gentle with her beloved. Since then, she probably pays more attention to the godly aspect of nature than she used to do, although she doesn't outwardly change her bahaviour much about it, electing instead to worship by reflection rather than big acts or offerings (outside the marked festivities, that is).
I'm still developing... well... pretty much everything to do with this world, so nothing's set in stone yet and specifics may very well change, but that's the gist of it. Worldbuilding is sure a process xD

The Land of Plenty: JAGR- character concepts VI
Aaand here we have batch number six! Now, I know you might be thinking, why the heck did I put Calypso and Chiron on the same batch? But it does make sense in JAGR, I promise.
Like, on one hand we have Calypso, who was sent to the island/prision of Ogygia after Kronos' defeat, since people feared she would grow to be as dangerous as her father was. She was still a child then and spent centuries alone in there.
Aaand on the other hand we have Chiron, who worked as a combat medic during theTimes of War/Dark Times, but switched to the field of mental health after the conflicts ended and flesh was mended but everyone's trauma persisted.
So yeah! You can probably guess how Calypso and Chiron will be related in this version of events; there's gonna be a whole therapy arc xD
Anyway, stay tuned for the next batch! We're about halfway through them :3

Okay. So. I've finally gone to the physical repair shop since there was nothing to be done remotely (and spoiler alert my tags on the original post were on point)
I really want to stress how my tablet functioned perfectly fine before the update and the problems started immediately after it. People who own the exact same model as me have also experienced this and complain in the forums (where no solutions where offered).
The guy at the repair shop told me (in a rather embarrassed 'I know what I'm saying makes no sense but it's what I'm forced to say' way) that "the motherboard is worn and must be replaced, since the tablet is not under warranty it would be 140€". He was not able to answer why the motherboard would only act up immediately after the update. He was not able to install the previous update because the option is blocked even for the people working in repair.
So! That's fun. That's a fun thing to happen and not upsetting at all that I paid hundreds for a tablet that suspiciously started malfunctioning only after an official update and the official repair store can't offer any other solution than making me pay a price that at this point getting a whole new tablet would be a better solution.
Sooooo I'll be going to the consumer affairs office and see if they can do something about it because I'm not gonna pay 140€ for the guys who broke my tablet with an update to fix it. Best case scenario, I get a refund for the now-useless-not-my-fault-tho tablet. Worst case scenario, I get no solutions and I still need a new tablet, but I sure as hell won't be buying the same brand.
Anyway. For the time being, traditional and sketches I digitalize in my phone it is.
I'll keep you updated on these misadventures.
Don't buy anything from Samsung.

The Land of Plenty: JAGR- character concepts V
I AM ALIVE AND SO IS THIS PROJECT!!
*ahem* okay, so, EPIC might have not been the thing that sparked JAGR, but it certainly gave me the push that I needed to finally work on it, so of course I had to include this family in it xD
Buuuuut there's some things I need to note. Because JAGR is obviously a greek mythology retelling, but is Not Accurate To The Classics AT ALL. Timeline and events have been changed, so long story short:
The war of Troy never happened here. Or at least not at the present time. Odysseus was trained for combat, because people still remember the Dark Times, but he went to a natural disaster relief mission, not to war. He was supposed to take the most vulnerable people, those who couldn't wait for their own region to be rebuilt, back to his home as refugees. But even in this version of events he managed to piss off Poseidon, with much of the same final results. Mmmmore or less.
He didn't spend 20 years away, on account of the 10 year war not being a thing here, but still for enough years that Telemachus was a child when he left and a teenager when he got back. And Penelope's ordeal wasn't 108 suitors trying to marry her, but Antinous trying to take her place as a leader by trying to frame her as "not fit to rule anymore due to her grief/denial about Odysseus' death." Telemachus still befriends Athena tho!
Buuuut this got long enough for now; just expect a different kind of angst with this lol. And stay tuned for the next batch of characters! ❤️
