as a marriage abolitionist, i support gay marriage not outside of support of marriage but because the concept weakens marriage. This is the same reasons why is supporting marriage equality for disabled people and nonmonogamous people.

Reformism is bad but doing reforms in preparation of revolution is good.

(plus people wanting to dedicate their lives to each other and to celebrate it with a celebration isn't what the issue is. The problem with marriage is that it is render women down to private property and exist to groom children into the patriarchy. Society also discriminates against people who are not married.)

Committing to one partner for the rest of your short life on earth only hurts yourself, and stifles your own growth. There are many people to love and be loved by. Do not stay with one person despite them being your so called “best friend.” There are plenty of best friends you will have throughout your life. I’ve personally had to make new best friends repeatedly throughout my life due to my living conditions, and let go of some that betrayed my trust too.

Even if you decide to “settle down” and have children with a partner, you need to make it clear to both your partner and your children that there is no such thing as one person being a ”twin flame” or “soulmate.” Far too often our society puts the notion into a young child’s mind that “true love” exists in the form of committing solely to one partner for the rest of your life. This is completely false. The universe wants you to have many partners throughout your lifetime. Love exists in many forms, through many souls, because it’s simply an illusion. An internal observation of our own thoughts and emotions, that’s all. Those thoughts and emotions will come and go, as many do, and you’ll find love over and over again with new and different people as you grow older.

Monogamy is a forced standard on society. Start taking risks finding new people at every turn, when comfortable & stable of course. Never take a risk on someone from the past either. You’ll always find better.
