Hi, everyone! I've been gone for ages (long story short: I'm 2/3 of the way through grad school) but this summer I had a chance to work with @salenakingston and artist @rjcee-art on a great new fic!
Throughout history, Aziraphale and Crowley have tried--and failed--to communicate with each other. Unsent letters, deleted voice mails, missives lost in the confusion of moving around. But with each undelivered message, they reveal more of how they care for each other.
This fic is part of the @do-it-with-style-events Strongly Worded Notes event--epistolary fics, pen pal AUs, and other exchanges of letters between our favorite ineffable duo!
Here's a bit of how mine starts...
Uz, 2500 BC
Angel— Greetings and salutations The purpose of this letter is to inform you What’s up? Hello. I assume you can guess who this is, based on the sulfur-scented paper and blood-red ink. I am writing to check in I wanted to touch base I thought it best to follow up Ah, hell. I don’t know why I’m writing this. I would almost think you put some kind of angel-curse on me to compel me to contact you, except you’re too bloody good to curse anyone, aren’t you? Emotional blackmail is more your speed Ever since the Job job the incident in Uz, I keep catching myself thinking about you what happened. It was good pretty successful, wasn’t it? I dropped by to check in on the family, just in case. The kids are all still there, and Sitis thinks she’s pregnant already, and all of them thanked me over and over and it was embarrassing. I don’t know what I’m supposed to do with all this gratitude, so I’m passing it along. It’s your problem now. Have fun with that.

Deep down, Aziraphale has thought about it too. He just asks fewer questions than Crowley 🤷

Past Spotlight Author Posts
✨imposterssyndrome ✨
Tumblr media
Sharing our fourth Spotlight Author post from the original Facebook group (and the last one hosted ONLY on FB). This one was shared in June '25, and featured imposterssyndrome, who has ties to the upcoming Spotlight Author!! Keep reading to learn more about their Good Omens-influenced works and participation in this ineffable fandom.
Let’s learn more about imposterssyndrome's life outside of the Good Omens fandom:
“My name is Maaike (pronounced ‘my-kuh’), I’m a 42yo non binary (specifically agender if we’re going to split hairs) parent of two insane humans aged 12 and 9, living in the West Midlands, UK. When I'm not writing, or trying to keep the two humans alive I work as an artist, specialising in personalised, hand-painted wooden home decor that's especially popular for children's rooms. I've also recently started making wearable designs & stickers.”
Their discovery (and eventual total obsession) of Good Omens originated with the love of other works by Sir Terry Pratchett:
“I read Good Omens in the late 90s after a boyfriend introduced me to Sir Terry’s work and I developed my very healthy obsession with the Discworld. I loved GO1, and obviously was mentally destroyed and scarred forevermore by GO2. I joined online fandom really late compared to most – when OFMD came out in the UK in January 2023. I slid rather seamlessly into the GO sphere and essentially live here now. And will. Forever. And ever. AND EVER.”
So does that mean that GO is the only fandom for imposterssyndrome? 😉
“I'm a Doctor Who fan and participate in that fandom, but I don't write for it.”
Writing is not totally “new” to imposterssyndrome, but the inspiration and encouragement for writing fiction came to them fairly recently:
“I didn’t start writing fanfiction – or any fiction for that matter – until late 2023, when I was going through trauma therapy, and my therapist encouraged me to start. I wrote stories as a kid, but my mother told me my writing was rubbish when I was eight. So I stopped. It took thirty-two years for me to stretch those writing muscles again, and it’s been blissful. Yes, it’s frustrating when I hit a block, or when there are too many ideas fighting to get out, or when I realise my many, many faults, but I truly love writing. My first fic, Epistolary, was basically word-vomited onto my laptop in record time, with very little editing. Basically because I didn’t know how to edit. Maybe one day I’ll go back and edit it, or maybe I’ll just leave it. It seems to do just fine the way it is!”
imposterssyndrome shares more about their favorite GO pairings and writing themes.  Can you guess who those two may be?? 😇 😈:
“I only really write Aziraphale & Crowley. I might write about previous relationships (and OF COURSE they were a disaster), or mention Anathema & Newt in passing, but I have no interest in writing any other pairings in any detail at the moment. I think it's my autistic hyperfixation at work in this case.
[For writing themes,] I do love a bit of angst and find that I automatically skew angsty unless I'm reined in - even in the middle of a chapter which is meant to be funny, or sexy, or light-hearted… 🤦
Won't lie, I love writing a bit of smut, but I'm not nearly as accomplished as I'd like to be.”
Of all their works, imposterssyndrome explains which one stands out as their favorite:
“This one is HARD to answer. And complicated. My favourite published piece of fanfiction is probably Epistolary, because it holds such a special place in my heart. It got me through such a rough time in my life, I met one of my best friends due to it, it taught me things about myself I had no idea I could do, it gave me ideas for novels I want to write in future, it allowed me to take time out for myself during a time I wasn't being granted that time…
However, I also absolutely ADORE Wavelengths & Frequencies because I'm writing it with my other fandom best friend and it's been nothing but joyful hysterics throughout.”
Speaking of Wavelengths & Frequencies, imposterssyndrome tells us more about this WIP:
“I’m co-writing the absolute insanity that is Wavelengths & Frequencies with my wonderful ficspouse, @shadesofecclescakes. This fic is a human enemies-to-lovers AU in which Aziraphale and Crowley are rival DJs who have to work together to raise money for charity and do various other things together, despite hating each other. wink wink Eccles and I are focusing on the humour as much as possible to try to lighten the dumpster fire world we all find ourselves in at the moment.”
This work has some amazingly funny dialogue 😂 - but imposterssyndrome won’t take credit for that:
“I am NOT the funny one. I am riding on my co-author's coattails on this one. We bounce off each other really well, and the footnotes we include in our conversations are only the tiniest fraction of the madness.  Some of the dialogue is based on actual insanity Eccles and I might say to each other occasionally. But the majority of the truly funny stuff is Eccles's genius.”
imposterssyndrome has other talents that they share with the GO fandom:
“I make some t-shirt, tote, and sticker designs, as well as having a few painted pieces. I'll be adding them to my ko-fi shop soon as they've been removed from other platforms due to the Pratchett Estate clamping down on their IP.”
Here’s where you can support and purchase imposterssyndrome’s works:

One of our readers inquired about the availability of one of imposterssyndrome’s previous works:
“There is a fanfic I took down and I get asked about as I know it meant something to some people.  It WILL be back, in one form or another, in the next few years. I promise. I can't send it to you right now (not even if you paid me, I'm sorry!), but if you follow me on my socials, I will update at some point regarding its status. That's all I can say for now which I realise sounds really rubbish but I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who's shown such massive love and support for the story. It means SO much.”
imposterssyndrome shares some inspiring words of wisdom for other authors and those aspiring to write:
“If you want to write - write. Write what you love. Write for yourself. You don't have to have beta readers. You don't have to write like other people. There are no rules you have to follow.”
Final thoughts? “I’ve had a big headcanon change since writing Epistolary and its sequels, and I had a grand plan of writing my new headcanon – I even wrote the outline and began to research it, but it came it at approximately seventy chapters and was Very Involved due to my love for researching historical situations to put our Ineffables in.
However, there was a liiiitle change in plan as I started that. I was awarded a bursary for an editing course for a piece of original fiction I’d been working on. I’ve just finished the course and I'm extremely excited about finally moving forward with my manuscript. I’m hoping that, by this time next year, I’ll be submitting it to agents for consideration. After that it’ll be on to the next idea...well, one of the next FIVE ideas. But hopefully one day I'll get time to write my new headcanon. Hopefully it won't have to be a fix-it, though!”
Thank you so much, imposterssyndrome, for sharing your journey with us!!  And we look forward to all your future works!!!

The Fool and The Star (G, 3.3k)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary:
Crowley’s hit the end of his rope. He’s tried everything—grand romantic gestures, subtle hints, love potions (don’t ask), pretending not to care, pretending to care too much—all to no avail. Aziraphale remains oblivious or unwilling, and Crowley’s running out of centuries. In desperation, he googles “love advice” and ends up at a vaguely Eastern-themed psychic shop run by a woman named Madame Isobella who smells like patchouli and hot glue. Or: one of the ways the confession could’ve gone… if the Metatron hadn’t shown up.
aaaaaaaaaa i wrote another fic and it's actually finished AND it's fluffy!!! what is happening!!!!!!

New podfic alert: Binary Stars
Have a new, short multichap! Here's 'Binary Stars' by @waitingtobebroken.
Aziraphale has been going to Crowley's astronomy lectures at the local planetarium for a few months now. It is only because he is really interested in space, of course. He loves all the… constellations. And the stars! And then Crowley asks him out for coffee.
Chapter 1 is up now, chapter 2 follows on Saturday!

Ch.11 Better The Demon You Know
Tumblr media
Chapter 11
Paring: Aziraphale/Crowley
Rating: E
Tags: Canon Divergence, Different First Meeting, Angst, Fluff and Angst, Hurt/Comfort, Dubious Consent, Falling In Love, Fuck Or Die
Excerpt:
“I wouldn’t have had to follow you, Crowley,” Aziraphale said, each word cutting, “if you hadn’t run away like a coward.”
Shame flooded through Crowley, hot and bitter. Because Aziraphale was right—this was his fault. All of it.
“I tell you I love you, and you couldn't get out of there fast enough,” Aziraphale continued, pain bleeding through his anger.

Or start from the beginning

My first human AU! When Crowley's courgette plant invades his neighbor's balcony, he finally cooks up an excuse to invite Fell over for dinner. Rated T.
Could anyone blame Crowley for sneaking onto his balcony in the middle of the night, when his only company was a few too many glasses of wine, and whispering to his garden how much he wished he could span the distance between their flats and watch over Fell while he slept? He’d never grown courgettes before; how could he have known how long their vines were? They’d stretched through the railing onto Fell’s balcony, seeking him as if he were the sole source of sunshine.

Hullo, it's been a while, uh? 👁u👁
here's a piece I really had fun doing and that maybe some of you saw at #TIC6 👀
Tumblr media
Jahane commissioned me this miniature-style illustration based on the Tudor style, and I had fun adding some details inspired by Shakespeare's works:
💐🧪Flowers, poison, and balcony tower: Romeo and Juliet
👑🗡Crown & sword: Henry V
💍 📿Ring and Chain: Comedy of Errors
🐻❄️Bear and winter elements : The Winter's Tale

I hope people who participated to the Shakespeare quiz at the con enjoyed this! :3

Well, it's been a hot minute since I posted a Throwback Thursday -- an occasional retrospective on the early months of the Good Omens TV fandom (or, occasionally, a deeper dive back into book-derived fic).
What happened was, I've been gradually preserving an offline archive of favorite and marked-for-later fics for the kind of reasons you'd imagine, as well as print-friendly versions of my own fic so as to have a physical copy. Earlier this week, I started with the one-shots, and felt an uprush of nostalgia for the innocent days of the First Fandom -- before we'd lived through the brutal onset of a pandemic that hasn't gone away but only slowed down, before the what I still think of (YMMV) as the gratuitous authorial cruelty of The Kiss -- and, of course, before the political situation that makes me want to preserve fic offline in the first place.
Possibly because I'm an old tart myself, I love Tracy. So here's my fourth posted GO fic, from September of 2019 -- pure fluffy, silly getting together featuring all three canon couples, thanks to the sagacity of a seeress and part-time Jezebel:
Tumblr media
Plush Toys, or, Madame Tracy Knows All - rated M, ~3000 words
“People come to me with all sorts of needs, ducks. They want to believe someone on The Other Side still cares for them, they need something they can’t make themselves ask of anyone else, they just need to talk. They’re burning up from the inside because they need to say something they don’t dare, or didn’t say something when they could. Why not take the chance?”
And here, on a more serious and eerie note, is what happens when Tracy decides to look up that queer Mr. Aziraphale post-airfield, and finds someone who, disturbingly inhuman or no, is in sore need of her matter-of-fact good sense. An early 2020 fic by @lyricwritesprose. complete with Pratchetty footnotes.
Wise insight into the characters of Tracy, Shadwell and Aziraphale, a nape-prickling sense of the inhumanity of angels, a promising restoration of the Arrangement as a sort of love-language, and delicious sentences like "It wasn’t that Shadwell was especially imposing, or especially dangerous, but there was something about having an obviously unhinged Scotsman ranting at you about nipples and accusing you of bearing diseases that were only found in particularly unfortunate sheep."
And -- a late bulletin just before posting -- @anotherwellkeptsecret has begun a comic of my 2021 fic Looking Good, Mr. Fell! I've followed AWKS' (incredibly reasonably-priced) Patreon since the first months of the fandom -- the composition and facial expressions, eloquent in a few spare lines, are always gorgeous. And there's always a GO and a Sherlock comic in progress -- two updates a week each! If you're not on the Patreon you can sample their work by checking out their Tumblr! I am so honored my fic was one of two chosen in the last poll (the other was We Only Said Goodbye with Words, I Died A Hundred Times, which will appear next).
Tagging in the replies as always -- drop a reply if you want to be added to the list or removed.
I write mainly Good Omens, along with occasional ventures into Sherlock Holmes (BBC and ACD), Doctor Who, Sandman and other DC Vertigo titles, and my first love, Star Trek. Find my fic here on AO3.
