Baker Boy Hats, The New "Must-Have"?
Some of you may have noticed that this year in the stores, there is an unexpected addition that has not been withdrawn from shelves with the arrival of the cold: Baker boy hats, the new must have in your wardrobe! One of the tendencies for this winter, a comfortable accessory, ideal for the winter season.
Many celebrities bet on them, they're sold in different colours and prints. Here's some different looks featuring these...

Diane Kruger at Chanel Haute Couture show.
How to wear it? If you wear a look with printed garments bet for a monochrome hat. If you opt for a simple look, bet on a printed one! Remember that an accessory can change an outfit completely.
Some celebrities wear them with heels... (Kendall Jenner, Zendaya)

Others with a more casual look... (Candice Swanepoel, Bella Hadid)

Our advice? Try to style your hair before putting it on. Keep in mind that cold or damp air, makes you hair lose its shape or have added frizz (that effect when you hair seems to be electrified), so we recommend to keep it in a low ponytail or a bow.
They're not just on the street, they're also all over the catwalk! Like this one from Miu Miu

Paris Fashion Week
Milan Fashion Week has finished, now all eyes are on Paris to bring you the latest: Paris Fashion Week! Which is happening as you read this post, the streets of Paris are filled with the #welcomefashionweek hashtag. PFW started the 25th of September and will run until the 3rd of October. In this post we will make a brief summary of some Paris shows…

If you have not tuned in to Milan Fashion Week, do not worry here you have a summary. Anna Wintour has also shared her favourite moments at #MFW:
youtube
Dior's show took place last Tuesday 26th of October. Maria Grazia Chiuri, the designer, who has stated many times that we should be all feminists, questioned: “Why have there been no great women artists?” after reading Linda Nochlin’s essay (1971). Each attendee of the show had a copy of it. This considered the collection was inspired by the artist Niki de Saint Phalle.
Photograph: Reuters
The same day, Saint Lauren’s show took place under the Eiffel Tower! Following Dior, on each chair there was a card with one of Pierre Berge’s most well-known quote: “Maybe this is crazy love, the love of two madmen.”
youtube
Lacoste, in the early morning of the 27th of September, had a nineties sportswear influence.

Photographs: British Vogue.
Maison Margiela after announcing weeks before the cancellation of Mens SS'18 Fashion Show, wowed with this travel theme. Accesories were flagged with airport tags.

And Dries Van Noten's show...
youtube
“I want to give women the opportunity to show their inner strength, not their power. That’s the personality of the woman I am drawn to,” Natacha Ramsay-Levi, creative director of Chloe.

Julien Dossena, designer of Paco Rabanne declared that a satin palette and the “coziness effect” were key to the fall collection.

Monochrome! Balmain SS’18 new collection:

And just this morning Loewe’s show, with a nude palette. And as announced on their Instagram large-scale tapestries decorated the show space.

Marc and Andressa, from Milan to Looks We ADore
An exclusive peek into the lives of two of the modelling world’s searing stars; we join Mark Mullen – Browne and Andressa Class, the jet-setting power couple for a chat about their background, their experience in the modelling industry and their future plans. For anyone with an interest in modelling and blogging this is the long-read for you! Settle in.

Hi Andressa, Hi Mark, tell us a little bit about your background and how you got to know each other.
A: I’m from Brazil and I’ve been modelling for a while and I met Mark on one of my modelling trips.
M: Yeah, I think we met about four years ago in Istanbul on a gig and we shared a house together there. Then, because we didn’t really speak much at that point, we saw each other in Milan and started to speak more frequently.Anyway as to my background I was born in Manchester and I worked cleaning kitchens, coaching football teams and waiting tables. Basically I never particularly wanted to be a model until, after university I felt trapped and saw it as a way into something new.
A: Yeah for me it was a bit different, I have been modelling my whole adult life and doing something different to me just feels strange. I’ve been all over the world though, so really it feels like I’ve led a number of lives. It’s genuinely been a great experience.

Okay, so what would you say is a normal day in your life?
A: The truth is every day in our lives is different and we have to create our own routine for ourselves, this gives us some structure to our lives because the nature of our work is so unpredictable. We need to make our days feels normal.
M: We like to start the day well, get up drink some juice and eat a good breakfast. Maybe I’ll go to a couple of castings. I always find the time to do some exercise, either running or cycling.
A: Sometimes you will have a normal day, rather chilled out but obviously other days I am running around London meeting different people.
We all know that you have to have things in common as a couple; do you think that sharing your lifestyle with your current partner has helped strengthen your relationship?
M: Of course, you know most couples have to make arrangements with one another and if you break a promise that can cause issues but because we both understand the nature of the others work we don’t really mind when one of us has booked something and then the other has a job to do.
A: I remember one time in Brazil, I was called in the middle of our holiday and I had to go out to a different city in Brazil because the modelling agency said that I had to be there by tomorrow. Obviously he had no problem with that and I left him. We both understand the way the modelling industry works.
As you’ve mentioned before you’ve travelled the world, why did you chose to settle in London?
M: Honestly, I wanted to feel a lot closer to my family. I’ve always felt like London is my home and having not been in England for five years, it’s a lot easier for me both to pursue my ambition to be a personal trainer and Andressa with her nutrition courses, it is our opportunity to branch into other areas of work, as we want to do at this stage in our lives.
A: I would love to live in Milan and I learnt the language because I loved the lifestyle. I never really chose London but of course I thought it would be an opportunity to create a market for myself in London. Of course, to let Mark be near his family is also very important, it’s just nice to have a place to call home.
M: I think another reason we chose London is because we can have our own place and usually we’d just rent an apartment for three months.
A: It’s more of a challenge for me to come here but mark and I agreed that it would e the best thing for now. Our lives change pretty quickly so we might be gone in a few months if I get a good enough offer.
M: We can’t be too close-minded staying in one place our entire lives so obviously we will move. You can never really plan your life out to long-term because in this industry you never know where the next big break is going to come from.

What made you a model and what advice would you give to someone looking to kick-start a career in modelling?
M: I only know this after all these years but the best piece of advice I can give you is to be patient. Also, make sure that you act professionally because you never know who you’ll meet on future shoots and you could gain a bad reputation for being difficult to work with.
A: What made me a model was all the no’s I got off of directors and agents. All the knock backs that I took built a lot of character. I understood how the industry worked through trial and error. The moment you look at it as a professional career is the moment you start to become a model. Don’t be moody; always keep positive or the job will simply drag on and on. Making things as easy as possible for the clients is very important, and remember that you are there to do a job.
We know that you started when you were 16, was it your childhood dream?
A: No, it wasn’t. I had never even considered the prospect of modelling so it was very surprising when I got scouted. There are so many modelling scouts in Brazil though, which is my home country. I was leaving school with my friends one day and a man was outside doing a selection for fashion week and kept trying to give me his business card I took it and ran off and didn’t really think about it. So when I got home from school that day I spoke to my mum again and told her another agent had approached me and she said that’s the 11th one you’ve received so maybe you should give it a try. I saw it as a chance to travel the world which is something I’ve always wanted to do. So I went to Sao Paulo and got three months free rent and a chance to see the modelling industry without investing too much.
M: Yeah it was never really a dream of mine either so I never really thought of doing it. It’d always been there and there had always been offers on the table so when I went to Australia I really started to consider it.

What have been some high points and low points of your career?
M: One of my low points was going to model in China. I enjoyed modelling for PowerAde in Sydney because they paid me so much money. I thought every job was going to be like that forever but I never made that much money again.
A: I loved performing in TV and film stuff because that shows that people trust that you have other abilities as well as modelling. I did a TV show in India and I learnt Hindi for the job. What I enjoy about modelling is you learn skills or get to do things that you wouldn’t even think of doing normally. You get to grow as a person. Nowadays, now that I’m a bit older I like doing shoots that people relate to and like doing shoots that empower women. It’s good to feel like a role model and that you are influencing people’s lives.
We have heard that you are starting a blog together, how much time do you spend on social media per day?
M: Before, I just didn’t really feel like I needed any social media accounts, so normally I barely spend any time on there. I went to Sao Paulo in 2015 and they essentially told me that I absolutely had to get Instagram and so I did and it has helped my modelling career.
A: I’m not crazy about social media a I did think it was a waste of time somewhat but I realise in the modern age that is very important if you want to contact people and get your message out there. I actually really enjoy using Instagram to show me taking off my makeup or just having images or videos of me at home in my natural environment. I don’t want to be seen as this model and that’s all I am. Reminding people that I am human can make them warm to you and it’s a good way to gain followers and boost your profile and reputation as well.
Okay final question, do you have any ideas for the blog's name?
M: Now obviously we are unsure about what it's going to be right now but one name I was toying with the idea of is ‘The Accidental Vegans’ but because I’ve got leather shoes and I don’t really consider myself a vegan, it might seem a bit short-sighted.
A: Yes, I’m very strict with myself about words and which words I use to represent myself.
M: We’ve been looking at names that involve the word ‘holistic’. We want to say something like ‘living holistically in the material world’ or something along those lines. It needs to be quite broad because this blog is going to be about lifestyle rather than just the recipe blogs you see out there. It’s like picking a name for your baby, it's going to be stuck with it for the rest of their lives. I’ve got loads of ideas so trust me we’ll get there in the end!

London Fashion Week Key Trends
Here is what we know you will be wearing this season! LWA team attended the LFWF Trend show that summarized the different must-haves …
Show stylist: Julia Brenard has worked for British Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue Rusia & many others. The show was split in 3 sections: “That 70’s show”, “Suiting” & “Dazzle”
“That 70’s show” took us back in history with high necks, relaxed silhouettes, denim, suede and bell bottoms.

“Suiting” described by the presenter as “The ultimate wardrobe piece”. When we think of a suit the first idea that comes to our mind is an office man in his suit but Julia showed us different suits ideas of various prints and colours.

Last but not least: “Dazzle”. Which we would call the “Metallic Trend” with metallic, silver and gold colours.

Our teams favourite? This one from the “Dazzle” trend.

If you want to see the full show here it is…Enjoy!

Galvan London Catwalk Show
As you will know from our previous post, we attended the Galvan London show at the London Fashion Week Festival. The show lasted 30 minutes and it was not like any other, at the end of the show the models acted as "live manikins" to be able to offer a second look to the audience. Here we bring you some pictures...
Galvan is a London-based label of evening wear established by four women: Anna-Christin Haas, Sola Harrison, Carolyn Hodler and Katherine Holmgren in 2014. "The brand reflects their shared longing for a more cosmopolitan approach, for something luxurious but also effortless, fashion-forward yet timeless, versatile enough that it can be styled differently and worn repeatedly" - Galvan designers.

Galvan has dressed celebrities like such as Jennifer Lawrence, Selena Gomez and Rihanna.

Our Experience at London Fashion Week Festival
Last Thursday, 21st of September, two of our bloggers attended London Fashion Week Festival. Although London Fashion Week is a very exclusive affair, where only big bloggers can attend, we, LWA managed to get in the London Fashion Week Festival. Who knows maybe next year we may receive an invitation to LFW (YES PLEASE!) ... In this post we share our experience and recommendations...

Just as you enter, the perfect room to take a photo for Social Media with the letters LFWF is giant sized, you could also take Polaroids for free. When climbing the stairs the staff explained how the rooms were organised and offered us a map: in the lower floor we found the catwalk and at the top different shops, a cafeteria and a stand to grab a bite to eat. Each ticket included an exclusive freebie Mother of Pearl tote bag for attendees, which we recommend collecting before entering to store all of your goodies, you'll pick up inside!

Woman having a coffee with the exclusive bag.
Items from different stands had an exclusive discount for the LFWF, you could also buy the items you saw on the catwalk shows which made it more tempting!
One could dub this event "the enemy of the credit card". Some of the stands had different competitions, our team participated in some, take a peek on our Instagram. There was also a beauty zone, which had Tony & Guy and Essie (nail care). To our surprise, they were not free. To an event like this with so much publicity and with numerous photographers at the door, people attend with the "perfect look", they have given many laps to the look. And therefore, don't need their hair or nails done.
We would highly recommend the event, although we do think more food a good option! Everystand had run out by the time we went to grab a bite!

Our bloggers at front row waiting for the catwalk to start.
Finally, we also recommend attending half an hour before each show. Even if you have front row, as was the case for our team, the sooner you get the better seat you have!
After examining the different shops our team attended two catwalk shows: Galvan London and "Trends". To know more about these shows see our other posts.

Who is Ibrahim Van Den Berg?
Ibrahim Van Den Berg, international model that has paraded for well known firms, such as Moschino, shares with us how he became a model and his experience in this industry. Sympathetic and fun Ibrahim tells us the work and negative aspects behind the catwalks and cameras.

Hi Ibrahim tell us a bit about your background and how you became a model…
I was born in Brussels, Belgium. My mum is half Dutch and half Zambian and my Dad is half Indian and half Malawi so I have quite a diverse family and I feel my heritage has given me more than one dimension to my outlook and personality. I was brought up by my mother mainly as they separated when I was young. Having a Christian mother and a Muslim father gave me a well-rounded religious education in my youth. My surname Van Den Berg comes from my mother’s side.
I became a model when I first came to London to study Business, Economics and Finance. Interestingly it was a girl I was seeing at the time that convinced me to take pictures of myself and send them over ModelsOne. They replied within the next week I had begun my career as a model. This was all before the beginning of my final year at University.

Your name I.V.D.B is really interesting tell us about your heritage and your name…
I predominantly have a Zambian influence and believe myself to be a very spiritual person with respect for all religions. The clothes I wear have a heavy spiritual influence, this is due to my grandmother and her roots in African spiritualism. This is out of respect and admiration for cultures because I am ethnically from a number of cultural backgrounds so I enjoy celebrating these backgrounds.
Did you always want to model?
To be honest I never wanted to be a model. When I was younger I never liked to be in photos. If there was a camera around I was usually the first person to hide. It was only when I started my career as a model that I grew more comfortable around cameras and started to accept the idea of getting my picture taken. In the end I did develop the enjoyment of being a model. At the start, though, it really was just a means to an end. A way to make money.

How did you end up in London?
I came to London originally to go to University after I finished high school in South Africa. When I finished my studies that I just mentioned, my parents gave me a choice; they told me I could either go to New York or London. I chose London because I feel it’s the better city out of the two. No offence to New Yorkers! I don’t know, I feel like London is a slower pace and the sort of city I could live in for a very long time.
What’s London like for modelling work compared to other cities around the world?
I have to say, I can’t really tell you what it’s like to be a part of a modelling agency all around the world because my agency is based here, in London. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I have worked all around the world, beautiful cities like Rome and Barcelona, but I still stayed with the one agency I am with now so my only experience has been with that specific modelling agency. I have done a few jobs in South Africa through friends of my parents, but those were the only jobs I have done outside of my current contract. I have met agents from Paris, Milan and other major cities from all over the world and maybe one day they might actually sign me! But, work here has been going very well for the past 3 years.
What’s it like working as a model?
Working as a model is quite interesting because it’s perceived as being quite a glamorous job and a lot of people romanticise it and tell me how it’s such an interesting, cool-looking job. However, what most people don’t really think about is that it is a job, you do have to work and act professionally. It isn’t just chilling and sometimes having photos taken of you.

What’s the most challenging aspect of modelling?
Modelling is challenging because it does play on your mind and you are worried about how you are coming across. You have to interpret what people want from you, using your instincts to get it right without them properly expressing it. Obviously, you have to take direction but at other times what people want is never really that clear. I’d say treat it like a job because despite you being the centric focus of shoots, the client is the most important person in the room.

LFW Street Style
And another day at London Fashion Week… Today our team focused on the looks of the people who actually attend the catwalks! No look was the same as the last, but what did you expect? Its fashion! Here are some examples…

Do you remember this boots from our “Rainy Day in London” post? Our team has done some research and they are from Topshop.

We loved this girls eyeliner.

Simple and fashionable. We Adore.

This girl caught the eye of all cameras with a simple purple bodysuit and some trainers.

We love this hat, the wearer considers herself a fashion victim.

Talk about drawing attention… this lady in reflective orange.

Her triangle-shaped bag? Just fabulous. Love.

Who said skirts were for girls?

This blogger goes for a tracksuit to attend the catwalk.

This fashion designer rocks an #AllBlackEverything outfit with this pink jacket.

Continuing the conversation about colours, this polo shirt with geometrical figures.

And what can we say about his hair? Unique.

This Nigerian blogger teaches us original ways to use a scarf.

We adored this red look, especially the laces.

This woman challenges the bad weather with open shoes.
Our favourite look? This one...An asymmetric skirt with red boots and an oversize blazer.

Our recommendation? Wear something you feel comfortable with, fashion is personal, each person has their own style and this is why our team, LWA, loves to photograph street style.
