This piece was originally an inktober prompt, but I’ve fixed it up! This is available as a print or as part of my inktober calendar on my redbubble.

Sigyn is the wife of the Norse god Loki and is dutifully stays with her husband in his torment, catching the venom that drips from an enormous serpent in the cave where he is chained. It is said that when Sigyn pauses to empty her bowl and the poison drips onto Loki’s face, his writhing causes earthquakes.

Sigyn is an amazing figure. Sigyn is steadfast duty in the face of hardship, and bone-deep strength under the weight of grief.

Sigyn represents the strength to bear the weight of suffering and keep going, obviously, BUT it’s important to never ever forget her second lesson:

Sometimes you need to empty your bowl. Sometimes you also need to say enough is enough.

In Norse mythology, it is said that the world will end one day when Loki breaks free of his chains and starts Ragnarok, the final battle between the gods that will destroy everything.

Healthy heterosexual relationship without ever making Jake give any signs of being sick of his wife-to-be, they’re just happy dorks in love supporting one another. They didn’t get together through an argument and they didn’t hate one another going in takes notes CW!

Is supportive of his girlfriend’s goals and strengths, never belittles her or makes her feel like she has to choose between him and her work

Is really tough and sarcastic but cares deeply about the things and the people who matter to her

Is a very strong, well built man who could bench press 3 grown men and is such a loving and gentle father 

Isn’t afraid to call out the Captain when he’s being unfair to the squad

Carries angry squad members over his shoulder

Got a bouncy castle because Amy and Rosa were stressed

Refers to himself in the third person a lot

There’s Hitchcock and Scully who’s life goal is to eat and sit in a chair and honestly mood.

This show tackles really problematic issues and completes stamps on them. Ever wonder where the “cool motive, still murder” meme is from?! They have tackled racial profiling, racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, bullying. The list goes on and on. 

It has canon lgbt characters who are well developed and their sexuality isn’t the main factor of their personality. The “will they, won’t they” relationship is developed naturally and both parties did not fall for one another at the same time. 

This show is so good and I would highly recommend watching it, I can assure you that you won’t regret it!

i don’t fuck w/ people who do the following: 

infantilize sigyn / diminish or downright destroy her agency in relationships as well as the mythic cycle (aka: taking all her power away in her own damn story)

disrespect angrboda to uplift sigyn (or vice versa) 

insert a rivalry between the two women as if a pair of ancient beings who are key players leading up to the end of the world would even have time for the petty hangups and jealousies forced on human women in patriarchal bullshitland 

reduce these two fascinating and powerful femme aligned deities to their relationships with a dude / imply their connections to loki are what make them valuable when both are worshipped individually and appreciated as separate from him, like, all the time to this day 

simultaneously (or not) imply loki doesn’t actually care for either (or both) of them when he’s been known to get angry and lash out at people who insult them 

probably a lot of other things bc i’ve been writing sigyn so long that i’ve seen too much nonsense to whittle it all down into bullet points
