Official Competition is a masterpiece?
Yes, it is, it definitely is. While telling the story of a director and two actors rehearsing for a feature, it permeates the profilmic plane with representational devices that create a meta-discourse on the art of film itself, it plays with narration and visuality in fresh and new ways and it reminds us (how could we have forgotten, given last year’s madres parallelas) that Penelope Cruz is a goddess

Watched the trailer of Persuasion movie and I'm honestly surprised at noticing how much my memory of the book is different from the quirky fun girl that breaks the 4th wall with her playful gaze is

Have you ever tried Universal's monster movies? House of Dracula pretty much is an all-star monsters mashup paralleled just by Monster High
I think we should write unnecessary sequels to public-domain classics.
I wanna read Dracula 2: Sherlock Holmes and the Curse of Dracula's Ghost. I wanna read Pride and Prejudice 2: Elizabeth Has a Gun.

But a gay man seeks his history in mythic fragments, random as blocks of stone in the ruins covered in Greek characters. We have the poems of Sappho because the one rolled linen copy stoppered a wine jug in a cave, and the blanks are the words the acid of the wine has eaten away. Fragments are all you get. You jigsaw the rest with your heart.

Also, the fact that fanfictions as a practice originates from a community of fans that recognise themselves as such is really important. Fanfictions can't exist as cultural texts in any moment prior to the birth of the Fan a subject, therefore calling greek myths fanfics or considering Dante or Milton as "fans" of the bible and scholastic philosophy is not only intellectually dishonest but also historically incorrect
if you call greek myths fanfiction i am not going to listen to anything you say

This is Peirce’s “art chirography” of “The Raven” by Edgar Allan Poe. Two people who weren’t really that appreciated professionally in their lives. Peirce was a weird person. This same archive has a bunch of doodlings where people noses do weird shit, like turn into faucets.
