LoSH Appreciation Week Day 3 - Power Swap

Power swap, power swap, let's see... oh, I can think of a classic Legion power swap. It begins shortly after the death of Lightning Lad.

Lightning Lad is really alive. See? His hand is twitching in his coffin.

But it wasn't really Lightning Lad -- it was his twin sister. Sun Boy, always on the lookout for hot chicks, spotted the signs that Lightning Lad was female.

And so it was that Lightning Lass joined the Legion through an act of Gender Swap. Wait, what's that? Oh, the subject was power swap.

Okay. Getting back to our story, Lightning Lad was still dead. What to do, Superboy, what to do?

After much searching a method was found to revive Lightning Lad, but not without the sacrifice of a life force. Saturn Girl -- *choke* she's gone!

Psych! It was Proty who died to revive Lightning Lad through a Life Force Swap. And there you have... what? Yeah, power swap, power swap. Hmmmn.

A while later Dream Girl joins the Legion, but she's secretly plotting to get all the Legionnaires out of action. She rigs an electrical explosion that removes Lightning Lass' lightning powers.

And via Clause 2-B the depowered Lightning Lass must resign.

But it's really okay. Using Naltorian super-science she'd rigged a special kind of electrical explosion with replaced Lightning Lass' lightning power with a lightening power. And that's how Lightning Lass became Light Lass through a Power Swap.

LoSH Appreciation Week Day 2 - Baroque / Fantasy

Princess Projectra's homeworld of Orando was always depicted as a feudal fantasy world of kings and knights. But most times it was modeled on the world of Medieval European castles. Oh, there was that one time that Mike Grell did it a bit more Disney, but that was an exception. So when did it go from simple stone fortifications to a baroque fantasy setting? When Keith Giffen took over.

Wow, get a load of all that ornamentation and those sculptural flourishes!

And how about that armor?

Now Giffen doesn't get all the credit. He's doing a rip off of Philippe Druillet whose work had appeared in Heavy Metal magazine. But what the heck, it was an interesting touch, and it was certainly better than his previous Kirby rip off phase.

So there you have it. Welcome to the new, improved Orando. Try not to get on the bad side of any pretenders to the throne.

Legion appreciation week: favorite couple

So for this I went with my personal otp Val and Jeckie. Also this takes place after Legion of Superheroes (1980) issue #228. Be warned, it will probably break hearts.

“You know you don’t have to stay Val.” Projectra said. It was after her coronation as queen of Orando, her teammates were flying off, back to legion headquarters on Earth, except that for Val Armorr, Karate Kid.

“I said that I would stay near you for as long as you need me, even if it is forever, and it looks like you still need help.”

“Thank you,” She hugged him, “for staying then, but are you sure you can keep that promise?”

“I am sure that I can.”

He didn’t.

Good news: Imperiex let you take the first shot.

Bad news: You found out WHY he let you take the first shot.

In other words... This is not the first time he was shot through the fucking chest. And people really got to assume that a killshot is enough to keep him down.
