“Styles, this is Louis Tomlinson, one of our catchers as I’m sure you know,” their coach Paul Higgins said, walking up to the most beautiful person Harry had ever seen.

He was tossing a baseball into his mitt-covered hand, his jawline hypnotic as he chewed his pink bubblegum. The smudges of the anti-glare eyeblack seemed to make his blue eyes shine brighter in the already-bright Thursday morning sunshine. Harry’s cheeks flushed as he tried not to stare at the way Louis’ lips looked as he blew a giant bubble, before sucking it back in.

“I.. uh… I didn’t know,” Harry stammered. Shit. Of course he knew of Louis Tomlinson- in addition to the research he had done on the plane ride over, he knew that Louis was regarded by his team as one of their hardest-working, most dependable catchers. He just had never had the chance to meet him until now.

“Too busy to look into who you’d be working with?” Louis’ eyes narrowed.

“No, I know who you are- I remember we beat your team last year, and-”

Harry felt sweat bead at the nape of his neck, his skin heating up as he got more and more flustered. His mouth had a mind of its own, and it was out to sabotage him.

Louis barked out a laugh as he rolled his eyes.

“Oh my god,” he muttered, turning away from Harry. He ran a hand through his sandy brown fringe before letting it flop down uselessly onto his forehead. As Louis picked up his catcher’s mask, Coach Higgins asked in a warning tone, “Got a problem, Tomlinson?”

“No, Coach. Everything is great,” Louis replied. He glared at Harry as he pulled the mask down over his face. “Everything is fucking great.”
