nothing is funnier to me than luffy adopting shanks bc shanks n co really just picked foosha village as a temporary base on a whim (a good bar with lots of alcohol, good location) but it turns out said bar comes with a kid that semi permanently lives there. every time they come into port there's luffy waving at them from shore. the crew, drunk n on vacay, is sharing personal stories and tales from the sea with an seven year old. shanks loves him so much in such a short amount of time that even after he stabs himself in the face & eats a devil fruit he's like well! that's luffy! <3 he loses an arm to an ocean monster and his only response is 'its only an arm. as long as YOU are ok'. gives him his hat on lend & tells all his buddies at sea about his little friend to the point that mihawk sailed across the ocean to show shanks the wanted poster because he knew how important this smiling menace was to him
