Lunch date (Addison Montgomery x f!reader)
(For anon. Thank you for requesting! I hope you like it.)
You and Addison have been dating for over three months, but you've barely seen her in the past two weeks. Of course, you understand that she's a world-renowned surgeon and has an extremely demanding job that she loves, but that doesn't mean you don't miss her. Which is why you texted her this morning, asking if you could drop by for lunch. She eagerly said yes, so a couple of hours later you find yourself on your way to the hospital that holds your girlfriend captive against your will.
It's not your first time coming around Seattle Grace: you've picked Addison up on more than one occasion to take her out on dates, but you've never met any of her colleagues and you've certainly never taken her on a date there. It makes you slightly nervous, but if she agreed, it means it'll be fine.
You walk inside the lobby and look around. You must seem lost, because a dark-haired doctor approaches you almost immediately.
"Hello there, I'm Dr. Shepherd, can I help you?"
You recognize the name from Addison's stories about her previous husband and you smile. This could be fun.
"Hi, actually yes. I'm looking for Dr. Montgomery?"
"Ah, no problem. I'll page -"
Just then, you hear the tell-tale sound of Addison's heels and see her walking towards you, all red-haired and gorgeous and smiling. You smile back.
"Hey, babe."
"Hey, darling." She pecks your lips, then seems to realize you have company and turns her head. "Derek."
The man's eyebrows are raised impossibly high, but he has an amused, kind smile. He looks at your girlfriend.
"So this is y/n." He looks back at you. "No offense, but we were starting to wonder if you were real."
Addison smacks his arm. "Oh, shut up. She's very real and we have a very real date at the cafeteria, so if you'll excuse us?"
Derek chuckles. "How romantic. Well, enjoy. It was nice to meet you, y/n."
"You too!"
You take Addison's hand as she walks you to the cafeteria and you're about to get in the line when someone calls her name.
"Oh, that's Karev, he's my resident today. I just have to check something with him, can you get in line in the meantime?" You nod and start queueing up behind a couple of people. The woman in front of you drops the file she's holding, and you crouch to help her gather up the papers.
"Thank you so much, I'm so stupidly clumsy today," she laughs, and you grin.
"I totally get you, no problem."
You get up at the same time and she stretches out a hand.
"Callie Torres, ortho. I don't think I've seen you before?"
You shake her hand, realizing this is Addison's best friend - and the reason she asked you out to begin with.
"Oh, I don't work here, I'm actually here with Dr. Montgomery. I'm y/n."
Her eyes widen in recognition just as your girlfriend gets back to you, lacing your fingers together again. Callie looks at her, seemingly impressed.
"Well damn, Addie." You both laugh.
"I told you she was attractive," the redhead smiles smugly.
"Actually the words you used were 'hot as fuck', and you were right." You blush and open your mouth to reply when a tall man walks up to your little group.
"Right about what?"
"About Addie's girlfriend being hot," Callie tells him, glancing at you then looking at her best friend with a teasing smile. It's Addison's turn to blush (god, she's so cute when she does that) and the man turns to you and gives you a once-over.
"Well hello there. Mark Sloan."
"Oh. You're Mark," you say with an amused smirk. He smiles proudly.
"I see I've come up in conversation?"
"In warnings," Addison corrects, rolling her eyes, but her smile confirms she's actually fond of him. He nudges her shoulder.
"Well, I've got to say, you still have excellent taste, Red. I'd be more than happy to join you if -"
"Whatever you're about to say, don't you dare."
You all laugh and Addison shoots you a smile. You realize you feel relaxed. It's nice, and it's fun, and you see yourself doing this much more often.
Once you've purchased your food, the four of you make your way towards the tables. Mark wants to sit with you, presumably to ask all sorts of highly personal details, but Callie shows bigger self-control and reminds him that you and Addison are on a date.
"Fine, but we'll have to go out for drinks one of these days," he grumbles. It's only when the two of you promise him you'll do it that he lets the brunette lead him away, and you sit down face-to-face with your girlfriend.
"I'm so glad you came over," she tells you with a lovely smile. You take a bit of your sandwich and smile back.
"Me too. It's weird to see you so little."
"I'm sorry babe, I know. But I swear, I'm doing my best to have some free time next week..."
You're quick to reassure her. "Adds, it's okay, I knew what I was getting into when I decided to date a surgeon. I'm just glad I get to steal you away for a little while -" you stop, seeing the young man Addison was talking to earlier walk towards you, with a raven-haired woman in tow "- before your residents find you again, at least."
Addison turns around and sighs exasperatedly when they reach your table.
"What is it, Karev?"
"There seems to have been a mix-up with the labs -"
"And let me guess, it didn't occur to you to run them again until this very moment?"
You snort quietly at your girlfriend's bossy, sarcastic tone, and you see the other resident do the same. You share an amused smile as her colleague stammers for an answer.
"Evil Spawn, when will you start listening to me? I told you there was no reason to interrupt Dr. Montgomery with what seems to be a very important meeting," she says shooting a wicked grin at you.
"Shut up, Yang."
"Actually," Addison starts, "that's what you should do, since clearly she has smarter suggestions than you and she was right, I'm in the middle of a very important meeting," she adds, winking at you.
"We're really sorry, Dr. Montgomery," the young woman says and turns to look at you. "Cristina Yang, by the way. Are you her mystery lady?"
"The one and only," you grin, seeing your girlfriend blush ever so slightly. "I'm y/n y/l/n."
Karev nods, gathering the labs hurriedly. "Well, it's a pleasure, but I've got to take care of this before your girlfriend kills me. Congratulations Dr. Montgomery, she's really attractive!" he says, quickly walking away. Cristina punches his arm and Addison just rolls her eyes.
"So that's Karev," you grin.
"That's Karev," she confirms with a laugh.
You spend the rest of the hour catching up and making plans for the next week, and then you have to get going, so she walks you back to the lobby, your hands intertwined.
"Addison, y/n, wait!"
You turn around and see Callie making her way towards you with a pretty blonde doctor. Addison smiles.
"Arizona, hi! Thought you were in surgery."
"Yeah, well, Callie told me you finally brought your girl here and I had to meet her," she says grinning at the both of you. "I'm Arizona, Callie's own personal lesbian lover."
You laugh. "I'm y/n, Addison has actually told me quite a bit about you."
"We were thinking we should go on a double date, what do you say?" Callie suggests enthusiastically. Addison looks at you and you nod with a smile.
"Absolutely! Next week?"
They're about to reply when suddenly, three pagers go off. With a groan, Callie says they have an incoming trauma and both her and Arizona say their goodbyes before leaving hurriedly towards the ER. Addison hangs back an extra minute to kiss you goodbye, wrapping one arm around your waist and cupping your cheek with her other hand.
"Thank you for coming, babe."
"Pleasure's all mine," you whisper. "Do you wanna come over to my place later, if you're not on call?" you suggest with a wink.
Addison smirks, lifting an eyebrow. "I'd love to." Her pager beeps again and you leave one last kiss on her lips.
"Go save lives, babe. I'll see you tonight."
"You bet you will," she says running off. "Love you!"
You bite your lip to stop an idiotic grin from spreading across your face, and watch her disappear through the corridors. She might have the worst schedule of the century, but Addison is definitely the best thing that happened to you.

RIP Helen McCrory (1968-2021)
I don’t think I’ve ever been interested in any play about the happy, successful, lighter moments of life. I think that’s a very modern, pervasive idea in our entertainment, whether it’s on Instagram or in fiction, to show only the good and the perfect side of yourself. It’s just a lie and it’s very dull, and it’s nothing that anyone should even strive for.

Feel Good (2020)
My whole life I’ve felt like I’m not in the right place, like even when I was a kid I just felt like there was some other place that I was supposed to be, always running behind this other place. And I’ve been with good people, really good people, people who love me. And I lie next to them and I just feel so restless. And then when I lie next to you I feel still, and quiet deep inside. I think you’re that place I’ve been running behind.

Every once in a while I think “why do I have all these mental disorders, surely my childhood wasn’t that bad” and then I have an interaction with my mother and I understand.
