Is there a chance that Alicent was actually working two steps ahead of everyone else?

Rhaenyra had the upper hand with the dragon seeds and Alicent knew the greens were in a vulnerable position with few options to choose from. She knew Rhaenyra would take kings landing soon so perhaps she ensured her sons would be out of kings landing before Rhaenyra attacked, and that the fallout on her and Helaena would be mitigated.

Alicent and Larys had been close in the past, there is a possibility she knew about Larys plans to escape with Aegon.

She knew Aemond was preparing to depart for Harrenhal. Asking Rhaenyra to give her ‘3 days’ before coming to kings landing could have given Aemond the time to depart, without actually alerting him to her plans. He obviously would not have supported her in this.

Going to Rhaenyra and saying she would lay open KL for her, could have been Alicent’s way of ingratiating herself to her old friend and ensuring Rhaenyra would be lenient on her when she took the city.

It is possible Alicent orchestrated events so that she knew the only people left in KL she truly cared for would be Helaena and Jaehaera. Since the three of them are women she would know Rhaenyra would spare them as they could never challenge her claim.

I’m grasping at straws with this analysis just hoping the narrative can somehow be saved… thoughts???
