deadass saw someone try and say the reason steven is getting more blame than shane and ryan is....... racism !
i'm sorry but you do realize ryan and steven are both asian right ?
i absolutely think fans are giving shane and ryan too much of the benefit of the doubt, but don't act like steven's race is the reason.
allow me to list some of the actual reasons people are trying to make steven the scapegoat:
the vast majority of the audience came from ryan and shane's buzzfeed unsolved days (steven's videos have never performed as well as shane and ryan's content)
i don't think anyone in the audience has the same parasocial "connection" with steven as many do (or did) with shane and ryan. desperately looking for a scapegoat so they don't feel betrayed by shane and ryan, they turn on steven
he has the CEO title. people who use this to act like shane and ryan were "tricked" or "forced" to agree to this decision are lying to themselves, but at the end of the day steven is in fact the one with the biggest say in what happens with the company
steven's series' are EASILY the most expensive. traveling around the world and splurging on overpriced food etc. etc. it's not hard to see how this all leaves the feelings toward him extra sour
that all aside, please understand this isn't a defense of like,, literally anyone in this situation. fans are understandably and justifiably upset. shane and ryan are getting too little blame by many. some fans are taking it wayyy too far (commenting on ryan's wedding photos, to mention an example). steven is getting dare i say too much of the blame ? like he absolutely is to blame (alongside shane and ryan) but trying to blame it on him like he could make this decision alone is ridiculous.
if i wear headphones and close my eyes it’s like im there HAHA
as someone who hasn't been to as of louis' shows the live album means so much to me
!!!! and this is why this album is so special for so many people, because you get to feel like you’re there. for some, it brings the memories back, for others, it creates a memory of listening to him live for the first time and what it’s like to experience that. truly is so special and he’s absolutely hit the nail on the head by doing this!!
what a wild fucking thing to say. some of you are the root of the problem.
absolutely not anons place to say how drake was effected by the abuse he went through.
to quote my criminal justice teacher: “we should not blame the victim for the crime that occurred. the only person to blame is the perpetrator.”
(one of the first things you learn on criminal justice ^^^ hope this helps anon !)
watching Drake on the documentary gave me really weird vibes, I am a CSA survivor and he did not act or talk like he was traumatized or affected by it at all.
There are different ways that us survivors handle our trauma, Drake seems to dissociate a lot when talking about his, you can hear this in podcasts when he's talking about fragments of things he can recall of the abuse.
Drake has spent decades with this abuse, and he became incredibly good at compartmentalizing his emotions, there is unfortunately a twinge of victim blaming / shaming in your ask and it reminds me of one of the letters saying "He didn't act differently on set" and "this didn't seem to have any affect on him or change his personality"
drake talking about brian IS trying to whitewash his own crimes.
No, we can have the conversation about cycles of abuse / violence without dropping the conversation about Brian entirely. Drake getting triggered and upset in the comments is literally a trauma reaction, people keep saying they support victims but....
Drake was r*ped over and over again, for the better part of a year by Brian... this was not just a one time thing, this was not just physical assault, this was more akin to psychological torture, but when Drake acts upset about something that is upsetting, or he acts in a way that make people think he's being too defensive... I...
Drake has had substance abuse problems, he has had DUI's, and he has probably very likely hurt people in his life, but these conversations keep taking place OVER the conversations that we ALSO need to be having about Brian Peck and people who support him. We NEED to call those people out, that conversation seemed to have stopped after QOS was in the dust, and it shouldn't be.
"what happened to drake was bad but" is not the vibe, there are no buts to this, what happened to him was bad, we should talk about it, we should also talk about Brian Peck continuing to get work and support, we should also talk about Drake and the cycle of abuse, we should ALSO be discussing mental health in the industry, we NEED to have all these conversations without shutting one down to have it.
People keep saying they want accountability but what does that even mean at this point when every single thing that Drake says or does is either "he's having a mental breakdown / he's so unhinged / he's using DARVO tactics" or "he's just doing this / saying this for PR"
