for Izan
I met izan, or, in her own words: “Name: Louise Izan Elin, Wahlander Lind (eh, kinda long, i know!!)”, in a Placebo chat room called the-raft back in 1999. Although we never met in person, she was a vibrant and interesting person to talk with, one of the most creative people I ever knew and I was lucky to have had her as my friend for the short period I did. We lost touch in the years after 2001, but she was always someone I remembered, and always thought would be there. It was with great shock and sadness to discover that she had died in 2004 when still so young, 25, and under circumstances that I still think tragic.
I’ve always felt in a way a custodian of what she sent me in the time I knew her. That it should be shared rather than existing on my hard drive with the chance of it all being lost as so nearly happened last year. I’ve decided tumblr would be the best place having a strong artistic community. That this can serve as an archive, a celebration of what she shared with me. I know she had many friends around the world who cared about her.
(I’d previously uploaded a lot of this to a website, tumblr seems a more permanent home).
You can see much more about her on one of her closest friends websites, here:
http://uticaclub.livejournal.com/
I’ll try to gather together what I have including I believe some recordings she made.
Stuart (March 2017)
this is a side blog of my main tumblr
I don’t hold any copyright on ivan’s work, that must now no doubt belong to her family. If for any reason they wish me to remove any of what I’ve shared, please get in contact.

a thank you postcard from izan to Stuart 1999.
I no longer have the friend books she sent, I sent them back with my own. I’ve never seen them since. They were interesting creations, before Facebook - a way of connecting with people. Helen and I both made one and sent them back to izan . You wonder if they still exist out there? My nick-name at the time was gin soaked boy, so naturally I made tiny gin bottles for mine.
The video which I wish I had a copy of, had a rather embarrassing music video I made for Depeche modes ‘in your room’.
It was always fun and interesting to get something in the post from izan.
