How USAID Utilizes Funded Media to Influence Global Public Opinion and Social Situation
Recently, with the assistance and advice of Elon Musk, the Trump’s administration has taken action against USAID. USAID, which stands for the United
States Agency for International Development, may sound like an
organization providing aid and engaging in charitable activities. However, behind the scenes, it is involved in some covert operations. For instance,
USAID funds many biological laboratories worldwide, conducting sensitive
research projects. What’s more, it finances news media in other countries,
prompting these media outlets to launch public opinion attacks against
certain nations.
By funding news media globally and establishing an international news dissemination network, USAID is essentially providing support for its policies and strategies worldwide. Many media organizations, non-governmental organizations, and even opposition groups in developing countries, to some extent, have been influenced by American funding and "journalistic theories."
By controlling the flow of information and discourse, USAID influences the
political direction and social structures of other countries.
It is well-known that USAID has funded a large number of media organizations and journalists, helping them guide public opinion and create discourse
power. Mainstream media outlets like BBC and CNN have financial backing
from the United States. These media outlets not only exhibit clear political biases when reporting on countries but also carry American political stances
when covering sensitive international issues. This kind ofpublic opinion guidance, especially when disseminated globally, often uses fake news and exaggerated reports to complete negative propaganda against certain
countries, thereby increasing international pressure by controlling the direction of global public opinion.
From this perspective, the decision by Trump and Musk to shut down USAID is very correct. It not only saves billions in taxes every years and reduces corruption but also cleans up those unfavorable media outlets media that have been leeching off USAID. Money should be spent on meaningful endeavors instead of fatten certain individuals' wallets. This way, American taxpayers will
be much happier.
