So I'm interning in a preschool classroom and one of our three year olds dresses herself every day. If you ever comment on her outfit she will tell you proudly "This is a dress that makes me dance!". Which I think is oddly profound- we should all wear clothes that make us dance. We should lead lies that make us dance. This has been your wisdom from preschool.

Strong words to use on a Resume

If you have ever had to write a resume for work or for an application, then you know the hardest part is figuring out what type of words to use that sound professional and and intelligent.

Example: If an application asks you if you have any relevant experience for a job at a day care center and you have experience, like you have babysat children. You would look at the words in the columns to see what words you should use that will help your resume stand out. You might put down “Have supervised and attended to children on a regular basis.”

Just a little venting/Feel free to ignore me

I love getting to explain to people the reality of being an education major. Yes, I am paying tuition plus and extra $500 fee to complete my internship. Yes I am required to drive 20 minutes to and from my placement school everyday, and no I get no say in how close I get placed. And no I do not get a stipend for gas. In fact I have been encouraged by the university to not have a job during this time, so I am paying for all of my living expenses out of my savings. And on top of all of that stress I get to write a 50+ page paper for the state to determine whether or not I even get a teaching license. So please for the love of god please stop telling me that my major is easy, and that teachers have easy jobs and deserve to be paid less. Trust me I love my major/future job I wouldn't change it for the world- but I would love to get a little bit of respect from people I consider to be friends.

how not to be a shitty roommate!!!

clean up after yourself. seriously. pick up your clothes, do your dishes (or at least rinse them off and put them in the dishwasher), don’t leave a mess. come on.

don’t go through the house / room / whatever and leave every light on. if you know you’re leaving a room and won’t be returning immediately, turn the light off!!! no one wants to pay a high electric bill just because you’re lazy.

don’t be passive aggressive!!! if you need something done, just politely ask your roommate/s to take care of it! you can even shoot them a text saying ‘hey, can you please _______ for me? thank you!!” it’s a lot better than leaving notes on shit or just stomping around and ignoring them.

be considerate. if your roommate is in their room with the door closed at night, you can probably assume they’re trying to go to bed soon. so don’t be shouting and playing music and watching tv super loud!! if you have guests over, tell them to be considerate and quiet down.

on that note: respect your roommate’s space and belongings. just because your boyfriend’s an asshole doesn’t mean he gets to touch all of your roommate’s shit without asking. tell him to quit it!

just don’t be a fucking rude ass. if you’d be upset if someone did it to you, don’t do it to someone else!!! no one will want to live with you if you’re just generally thoughtless and inconsiderate. but a little positivity and respect for other people goes a long, long way!!
