very strong choice to make post-amnesia baker an avid mycologist actually because what do mushrooms do? they’re decomposers, they feed off dead flesh and make it usable to the living again. what is bradley baker? dead. metaphorically at first and then literally. what is ruby? living. what does baker do? trade his life for hers. makes the dead useful to the living. starts the cycle anew. i am going to scream
