how many pairs can we submit? and if its only one can i submit another one if i already submitted a pair but it turns out someone already submitted them?

you can submit a small handful! I've had a few people submit several already, but have asked them nicely to let other people have a turn so that they don't completely dominate the submission count. try to keep it to about 3 or 4 max for now.

I wasn't totally sure, so I asked the person behind a large percentage of the tag on ao3 (Infiniteleft on ao3, infinLL on twitter) and according to her and her fellows yes it does count. it's not the rarest of rarepairs, but it does count.

love live! rarepair tournament

hello and welcome to the love live! rarepair tournament! this will be a poll series where we as fans determine tumblr's current tastes in love live! ships, EXCLUDING inc^st/ped^phil^a/besti^l^ty. that said, ship-bashing will not be tolerated when it comes to pairings that are included in the tournament and non-harmful popular pairings outside of it.

this poll tournament will not be judging which is the most underrated, as many entries will be on the same level of nigh-complete obscurity. this will be for tumblr's favourite.

ships will be user-submitted. pairings can be cross-unit, include N girls, and even include non-idol characters (such as ships including non-idol students like shizuku osaka X niji's drama club president, or adult/adult ships like kotori's mother X maki's mother)!

you're free to make and share as much propaganda as you want when the relevant polls are up and running. share stories, ramble, analyse, show pictures, create art/fic, whatever!

it'll be a bit before I have everything set up, but feel free to submit your love live! rarepairs now using the askbox or the replies/comments/tags on this post!

I unfortunately tend to get stuck when considering rarepairs in Love Live, because I always second-guess myself on how rare the pair actually is. Are there guidelines for rarity, or is it just anyone this side of the Established Pairings? Like, I figure NicoMaki, NozoEli, ChikaRiko, and YuuPomu are probably out, but how obscure are you looking for?

if you have to think hard and ask yourself "does this count as a rarepair?", you should consider submitting something else instead.

there are quite a few pairings outside of The Big Ones that are still popular enough to not count as rarepairs in my opinion. ultimately I'll be making the calls, but if people disagree with my initial judgement I'll try to look at evidence such as fanart/fanfic tags on various sites and and reconsider.

fun fact that has haunted me for years: emma and rakshata are in a "baref^ot group" (censored jic) that consists of just the two of them, in which they practice dancing with no shoes on. emma's N cards have 3 homescreen quotes about it. for some reason. anyway, still cute! nothing inherently wrong with it, and it's something to bond over I suppose.

shizuai, shiosetsu, karindia, and riko's mum X yoshiko's mum are in. I had a queued post where I explained in more detail, and yes, adult/adult ships like shipping the parents with each other is allowed. can't seem to find an image for this particular one, but still.

I don't have an image for mutsufumi, but both it and youkanan are in! I don't see much youkanan at all, so I do consider it a rarepair, but if there's a Scene I've somehow missed then I would like it pointed out!
