Atlanta - Summer 2021
Naturally, the curiosity of a toddler motivated Christianās insistence on discovering what was beyond this giant door!

My Little Lifeguards š¤ā¤ļø
Story timeā¦
So one would think these little lifeguards would have had everything under control on this particular beach day, being trained professionals and all. š
However, [I] managed to get our SUV stuck in the sand that day! (Oops)
I tried to dig us out, drive forward, reverse itā¦Nope! Each attempt was unsuccessful. Thankfully this lovely couple, who were certainly witnesses to my amateur hour, came to our rescue - all smiles and quick to lend a hand! Together the three of us tried a few different things. After seeming to have exhausted all options we could manage to try on our own, another couple came jogging over. Before you know it, almost 10 strangers were involved in the effort! š„°
In the end, it took a tow strap someone had handy to get us out of there! I am super grateful to every single person who helped out. We went merrily on our way home (safe and sound) after a lot of thank-yous and one huge sigh of relief!! š
Lesson: Avoid the softer sand when driving š«

I remember with fondness the family road trips we took during my childhood. I truly hope our kids love creating these memories together and cherish them as I do even now.Ā

Motherās Day letter:
[Christian] Whether weāre playing catch or "flying" in our tree swing up 'to the moon', racing cars or monster trucks or "dancing dancing crazy" to our favorite songs (you know that oneā¦) or just singing at the top of our lungsā¦
Whether Iām teaching you something new 'in school' or whether weāre both sounding like toddlers while pronouncing new words in German ā
Gazing at the stars projected on the ceiling and using our imaginations, pretending to be in outer space or making shadow puppets with our hands ā
Whether weāre building tall towers or pretending to fly like Buzz Lightyear ā Whatever it is weāre doing, it never gets old because Iām doing it with you. I love cheering you on when you accomplish something new like putting on your own outfits and tying your own shoes or counting to 20 or even counting to 10 in German and counting down too! You impress me each time.
Although you sometimes make mistakes (as we all sometimes do), like when you splattered paint all over a brand new cream colored chair! (Lol) I still smile at you and you might wonder why. Itās because when I see your beautiful little eyes, those things donāt matter.
I love our little talks and hideouts. Our little adventures of make believeā¦I love trying new recipes together and getting all messy and sticky. I love your silly faces and each time you say "Mommy". š You ask tons of questions and I just love your curiosity.
Those extra special momentsāWhen we are reading the Bible or quoting verses together, it brings indescribable joy to my heart. I love to see how much you love your brother Nathan/ "baby Athan" and how you try to comfort him when he cries and how you love to hold him and give him hugs and snuggle him tight. š³š
I love how kind hearted you are towards others too! You are so loving and caring.
Not only do I love you to the moon and back, I LOVE you to "infinity and beyond"!
You two are my favorite boys!
[Nathan] You almost always have a big smile on your face and bring so much laughter to us all. Youāre already trying to be a big boy like your big brother and it wonāt be long until you two are running around and playing together! Watching you grow is a joy and each milestone is one to cherish.
Being Mommy to you two is one of the greatest blessings ever.
