It's just such a sun and moon comparison too.
Like, with the first time it was an accident. And when he woke up he obviously had the expectation that his family would be worried despite none of them being there at his bedside (ofc they didn't KNOW he was alive but still, he didn't know that yet). He woke up alone. Then upon returning home discovered they just think he died and moved on with their lives exactly the same as before he 'died'. As if he was truly insignificant. They didn't bother to really look at what happened and see why he did it. They didn't see him no matter how much he begged.
This time it was intentional, he ran full steam ahead with the intent to basically kamikaze himself for the sake of killing Shoto and Enji. So he is going to wake up with the immediate realization that not only did he survive (again) but he failed his main goal to take either of them down with him. But this time he isn't waking up alone. This time Enji is right there for him. His family is worried about him, and waiting for him. And they are trying to change for the better. They are trying to band together and be there for him
It's gonna be hard to work Touya into a position of forgiveness, and the only ”beacon" that I can see helping in that is the fact that he is getting the one thing he really wanted; to be seen by his father and his family. To feel like he matters to them. Maybe it's too late even for that, but maybe it's still something that will mean enough to him to help him keep going and potentially rehabilitate.
Maybe it's wishful thinking. But I hope that he can find what he needs to actually live and not just endure and survive. I hope he gets a genuine chance to thrive and find peace.
over and over and over and over
