What I have learned today: Day6 #PersonalDevelopment #Stem12
The first class in the week, I got stressed out because my internet connection was unstable, making me it hard to join the meeting and hear what the teacher is saying. The topic was all about psychological well-being, I had an idea of what was it. But speaking of psychological well-being, I am quite struggling with it. There were so many things that was mention in the lecture that was associated with having poor psychological well-being such as social withdrawal and risky behaviors. I think its because of my experience being bullied and constant peer rejection in the past. Speaking of bullying, I was bullied physically, socially, and verbally. These are the things that made me an introvert and a reserved person. But as time passed, things are getting better. I have good communication with my friends and family, and I also talk to others whenever they have same similar problem.
The lecture also did mention about main cognitive distortions. Which are filtering, overgeneralization, fallacy of change, etc... the most relatable one here would be the catastrophizing distortion, since I always experience the worst case scenarios. Making me expect of everything to go worse. But I have been constantly trying to improve my mental health, and thank to this lecture, I have learned many ways to improve/maintain a good level of mental health such as, looking after your physical health, improving your self esteem, generating positive thoughts, and etc.

What I have learned today: Day 4 #PersonalDevelopment #Stem12
After a grueling test, our teacher had lessons on dealing with the challenges of adolescence stage. Being an teenager is no easy task, I can confirm that my self. Adolescence is something that excites others, but for me, it is somethimes frightening. I find it hard because being a kid to an adult is no easy feat. Things like excessive eating and no exercise are only a few of my teenage problems. Rebellion is also a thing, sometimes I get the urge to disobey my parents whenever I feel restricted by their decisions. Although I know that they are doing these things for me, I can't help but to disobey them sometimes. Peer pressure is one of the things that I can't resist, it makes me feel left out when I don't do things that they are doing. Many things such as procrastination, stress, and anxiety are also present during adolescene, it is almost unavoidble. Although after this lesson, I learned that there are many solutions to these problems such as seeking advice to your parents, effective communication, and optimism.

What I have learned today: Day 3 #PersonalDevelopment #stem3
Well today was a pretty long day for me since we tackled about 3 powerpoints presentations in one go. Although it was pretty rough, the lessons were pretty interesting cause I find it relatable. The lessons we tackled was generally about being an adolescent and the changes it brings to a person. There were many things that was mentioned such as development tasks, Principles of development, and types of development during adolescence. The lessons also explained why adolescents compared themselves to others, although its hinted that it is necessary for human survival, its negative effects are bad for the self. I learned that people should be positive when comparing themselves to others. This day gave me a better insight to adolescents and to myself.

On the second day of Personal Development lecture, we didn't have any lesson at all, but our teacher showed our activity and she made us present it to her and my classmates. I was pretty nervous while reading my own work. After the presenting of activities, I learned many things about my classmates since they shared their works that associate with themselves. It was a pretty good day for PerDev subject.

Just what I have learned today: #PersonalDevelopment #stem12 Day 1
This another semester in my grade 12 have brought a wonderful and interesting subject namely Personal Development.
The first day of lecture was already interesting since the lesson was all about yourself, which piques my interest. There were many things mentioned such as self concept, self esteem, and self awareness. I learned that the self concept has three basic components which are Physical Characteristics, Personality Traits, and lastly, Social Identity. Physical characteristics refers to the features of your own body. Personality traits are individual’s pattern of thoughts, behaviour, and feelings. Social Identity refers to an individual’s sense of membership to a certain social group. The most interesting part of the lesson that I have encountered was self awareness matrix. I had found out that I was an introspect person based on my self judgement although I am not certain of it but I think that when this subject progresses I will have a better understanding of my self.

Ready Player One: A movie analysis
On march 30, 2018, a new film was released and it was entitled "Ready Player One". A sci-fi movie directed by the famous Steven Spielberg and based on a novel of the same name written by an American author Earnest Cline. The story was set in a dystopia in 2045, which follows protagonist Wade Watts on his search for an easter egg in OASIS, a virtual game reality. The discovery of the said easter egg would give him the game creator's treasure.
In the dystopia, nearly all citizens would escape to the virtual reality entertainment world called the OASIS. This can relate to the present in which nearly all people use the internet in order to escape life problems, reality, and to be happy. Since nearly all people are connected to the internet, It is a must to be a Media and Information literate individual since you are using the internet. Being a media and information literate individual keeps you away from unwanted events or effects, just like in the movie. In the movie, people use avatars to be in the VR world OASIS. The people here are much more comfortable because with the avatar, other people cannot judge them based on their physical appearance. People in the VR world can be more expressive, happier, and more social under the mask of "avatar". This is true especially on Facebook, where many people create RP(role play) accounts to socialize with other people, without knowing their personal identities. Being a media and information literate individual is crucial in the OASIS in order to be safe around, not offend other people, and to help other players.
In the end, I enjoyed the film and I can see that there are many things that you can relate to being a media and information literate individual.

A SOCIETAL ISSUE THAT HINDERS DEVELOPMENT: DIGITAL DIVIDE
The speed of technological advancement is wondrous to behold. Each time technology advances, the speed of advancement increases twofold. With this speed of advancement, people have also changed their lifestyle drastically. Then there is Digital divide, which is one of the effects of rapid technological advancement. According to merriam webster dictionary, digital divide is the economic, educational, and social inequalities between those who have computers and online access and those who do not. The people who makes up the digital divide are the natives and the immigrants. Digital natives, are persons who are born in the age of digital technology and thus familiar with computers and the internet from an early age while digital immigrants are persons who are born before the massive use of digital technology. Digital divide has becoming more of an issue as technology advances further and computer and other gadgets start to drop prices, making it affordable nearly to everyone. Even at our home digital divide is present for example,
Adelaida(my mother), a middle aged wife, have children that are exposed to computers and to the internet. Adelaida, who struggles at using laptops for her presentations, have children who are expert at using the almost every type of gadget. One time Adelaida was invited by her sons and daughters to a google meeting. She had difficulty in using the platform and thus, she failed to join, creating a communication barrier to her children. This type of issue is very common today, with the older grown ups being the digital immigrants and the children being the digital natives. Me, as a student, should find solutions to cope with these problems. To help bridge the gap between us digital natives and digital immigrants, I must empower digital immigrants to further use digital technology. I must inform my parents about the low-cost access to digital technology, as the gadget prices started to get confortably affordable. I should tell them about the convenience of the internet to further entice them into using the internet. But the best thing I could do to help them is to teach them how to use, tell them about the things in the internet. With my efforts to bridge the gap, I hope this would help in resolving the issue of digital divide. We should help others in order to bridge the gap and for the better future.

The Setbacks of Piracy
Do you like to watch movies on DVDs? Do you download minecraft for free on an illegal site? If you do that, please stop. Maybe some of the movie DVDs that you buy and love to watch are pirated. Maybe the Microsoft Office that you use in creating documents is pirated. What is piracy? According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, piracy is the unauthorized use of another's production, invention, or conception especially in infringement of a copyright. Many people nowadays use pirated softwares, games, and DVDs. Some are aware of it being pirated while some are not. Piracy causes Huuuge problems to the software industry and to the film industries. According to stanford.edu, the software industry have lost potential 12 billion dollars of income and over 100,000 jobs lost. The film industry on the other hand, lost millions of dollars and piracy also affects the pension, welfare, and benefits of the workers behind the scenes. These losses cause blows to the both industries causing reduced sales in these industries. Some pirated softwares causes computers exposure to software viruses, corrupt disc or defective software, and other types of malware.
Many people are benefiting from pirated materials while many people are suffering from it. You can see many DVD sellers on markets, many pirated softwares on the internet. People who cannot afford to go to cinemas will resort to buying pirated movie DVDs. Many teenagers who like to watch kdrama and anime use websites with pirated content such as kissanime, kissasian, and more. These things should be stopped. The government should implements stricter copyright law, the citizens should know and we must persuave them to avoid using pirated things. These actions can help the workers in the industry, stop the spread of software virus and etc. We must cooperate in order to stop this issues and make the society a better place.

Media of Tomorrow
Lowell jay gella
Nowadays, our lives revolve around technology and media. New media are influencing our daily lives and revolutionizing our traditional media. Younger generations are already expert in using social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and etc. In my childhood, I was fond of watching television shows and reading fictional comics, but children in these times are just seen watching YouTube Videos and playing video games on gadgets. As technology advances, many forms and types of media arises. Even though there are still people who rely on newspapers and other printed information, using gadgets to get access to the internet mostly has been the primary source of daily information of younger people, adults, and even some elderly people. Although newspapers and magazines are still relevant these days, there are already online versions of newspapers and magazines such as inquirer.net and Rolling Stones music magazine. Television shows today are accessible on the internet. Music Videos from MTV are now also found on the internet.
The new media is slowly devouring all other types of media since it has the most potential of all different types of media. It is simply an evolution of media from early acoustic signals and information to the modern and advanced new media. Few years from today, maybe that new media have already unified all other types of media, maybe the newspapers, magazines, television, radio, and other types will be gone because of the new media's development. It could also be that television, radio, and etc are still relevant five years from now. Maybe in 5 years from now that all newspapers are not in paper anymore. Maybe that the television we know today is a history tomorrow. We never know. But whatever happens in the future, we will be ready of what the changes have brought to us. I hope that a bright future will come into the media.
