9 Adriana Lima What does it take to get the body of a Victoria’s Secret angel? A low-carb diet and two-hour workouts each day. That’s apparently what Lima did to prep for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show a few years back, according to an article from The Cut. Her diet was primarily made up of green veggies, protein, and protein shakes or cereal bars as snacks. Since then, it seems she’s stuck to a keto diet, according to a story published in September 2017 in Harper’s Bazaar. 10 Alicia Vikander Vikander adopted the keto diet two months before shooting began to prep for her role as Lara Croft in Tomb Raider. According to an April 2018 story in POPSUGAR, Vikander’s trainer, Magnus Lygdback, said he could tell Vikander was struggling a bit in the beginning, but, thanks to her solid willpower, she stuck to it. She stocked up on fish for protein; MCT oil, coconut oil, and avocado for fat; and plenty of low-carb veggies while filming the 2018 blockbuster. 11 Vanessa Hudgens Hudgens doesn’t shy away from bacon. It’s all part of the High School Musical actress and singer’s keto diet plan, which she says helped her drop 20 lbs from of her 5-foot-2-inch-tall frame in 2017 (in addition to the twice-a-day SoulCycle sessions, that is). Her advice? She told People News in April 2017 that it’s best to view food as fuel. She advises eating the things that give you long-lasting energy, and don’t stress about counting calories. 12 Tim Tebow The pro football player turned outfielder for the New York Mets told GQ in February 2017 that he followed the keto diet and reported his favorite source of fat was avocado. The guy really loves avocados, and says he probably eats about four a day, adding them to everything from guacamole to smoothies. He rounds out his diet with eggs, sea bass, steak, and vegetables like asparagus. #lkb #lowkarbbros #keto #lowcarb #ketoinspo #lowcarbinspo #ketodiet #ketorecipes #ketolife #lowcarbhighfat #lowcarb #lowcarbdiet #ketonz #ketogenicdiet #ketogenic #ketogeniclifestyle #timtebow #vanessahudgens #aliciavikander #adrianalima

3 Kourtney Kardashian Kourtney Kardashian is considered among the healthiest of the Kardashian bunch. According to a People story from February 2018, Kardashian shared in her app that going keto was a “really positive experience.” She said she first went keto after doctors found high levels of mercury in her blood. She now eats cauliflower rice or broccoli rice in place of carbs. But just because she’s a reality TV star doesn’t make her immune to the negative side effects associated with this way of eating. Kardashian admits she suffered from headaches and low energy for a couple of weeks and makes the diet more sustainable by giving herself a “treat yourself day” every week. 4 Kim Kardashian Kourtney’s not the only Kardashian who’s been a devotee to the low-carb lifestyle. Kim has jumped on the bandwagon, too, and, according to a story published in June 2016 in People, reportedly lost 60 pounds (lbs) after having her son, Saint, while on the Atkins 40 diet. Atkins 40 is a version of the Atkins diet designed for people with less than 40 lbs to lose, and has been around since the 1970s. Atkins is essentially the original keto diet and involves a very limited intake of carbs and high amounts of fat. The main difference is that on the Atkins diet you’ll slowly reintroduce carbs, so ketosis likely will only come into play during phase 1. 5 Gwyneth Paltrow Paltrow has been known to dole out pretty wacky health advice through her wellness lifestyle brand Goop, like recommending body stickers to ease anxiety, as People reported in August 2017. According to a 2017 Bravo story, the actress and business mogul is a fan of the keto diet, which has a lot more research backing it up than some of her other claims.
6 LeBron James Flash back to the summer of 2014 when the baller slimmed down his 6-foot-8-inch-tall frame. When James showed off a six-pack in a series of Instagram posts, everyone got buzzing about what changes he’d been making. Dozens of news stories revealed the keto diet was the major reason. He told Sports Illustrated in September 2014 that he didn’t eat dairy, sugar, or carbohydrates for 67 days. The reasoning? To “test his mental fortitude.” Some outlets, including Business Insider, speculated he was trying to follow Kobe Bryant, who lost weight in his mid-thirties and ended up giving his career a second wind. 7 Vinny Guadagnino Guadagnino came back into the spotlight in 2018 with the reboot of MTV’s hit reality TV show Jersey Shore, called Jersey Shore Family Reunion. In the six years since the MTV show last aired, PopSugar reported in May 2018 that Guadagnino has adopted the keto diet and launched a dedicated Instagram account where he goes by @ketoguido. He recommends eating eggs, bacon, butter, steak, fatty fish, plants, and exercising a few times each week. According to a March 8, 2018, Instagram post, Guadagnino says his old way of eating had him 50 lbs heavier and looking 10 years older. 8 Megan Fox The Transformers actress and mom of three turned to the keto diet to get her pre-baby body back. Fox told E! News in August 2104 that she cut out bread and carbs, including chips, pretzels, and crackers. She cleaned up her diet so much she says the worst thing she’d take in on any given day was coffee, and admitted to E! News: “I don’t eat anything fun.”

Celebrities didn’t start the ketogenic, or “keto,” diet trend, but they’ve certainly added fuel to the already-hot fire. The eating plan has skyrocketed in popularity in recent years, and that could be due in part to its being embraced by several actors, sports stars, and reality TV stars.
The ketogenic diet is low-carb to the extreme. Followers of a common version of the plan source 75 percent of their daily calories from fat, 20 percent from protein, and just 5 percent from carbohydrates. All it takes is a few days of eating this way for the body to enter ketosis, which essentially means the body starts burning fat instead of glucose (carbohydrates) for fuel.
The keto diet has been shown to have many health benefits, including weight loss and possibly reducing the risk or severity of diseases such as type 2 diabetes and epilepsy. According to a study published in August 2013 the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition, there’s also some evidence that the keto diet can help clear up the skin, because high-glycemic foods (which are high in carbs) can promote acne.
Cutting carbs this drastically isn’t easy. Some celebs refreshingly admit to having the same troubles everyone else experiences on the diet — including irritability and headaches (commonly known as “the keto flu”) when starting out. Here are 11 stars who’ve tried or endorsed the keto diet.
1 Katie Couric
In late August 2018, the 61-year-old former Today show anchor posted on her Instagram Stories that a week into the diet she did "feel better" but hinted that she'd experienced some symptoms of the keto flu, Women's Health reports. "The fourth or fifth day, I felt a little shaky and headachy, but I feel much better," Couric said on Instagram.
2 Halle Berry
The 51-year-old actress hasn’t been shy about her love for the keto diet. She told People in 2018 that she’s a big meat eater and doesn’t fill up on pasta or anything with added sugar, making her a good candidate for keto. Instead, she says she fills her plate with healthy fats, including avocado, coconut oil, and butter.

It is important to discuss any intended diet plan with a doctor, dietitian, or trusted healthcare provider, especially for people who are trying to manage a health problem or disease. People looking to start the keto diet should seek consultation with a doctor and check if they have diabetes, hypoglycemia, heart disease, or any other health conditions to ensure the keto diet is a safe eating pattern. Keep in mind that studies on the long-term benefits of the ketogenic diet are lacking. It is unclear whether maintaining this diet over more extended periods is more beneficial than less restrictive healthful eating patterns. A ketogenic diet restricts or severely limits carbohydrates. However, some carbohydrates provide health benefits. For a less restrictive dietary approach, people should consume a diet that includes a variety of nutrient-dense, fibrous carbs, such as fruits and vegetables, alongside nutritious protein sources, and healthful fats. 💡 Did you know that in most scientific studies, Ketogenic diets prove their worth as healthy and beneficial for you, such as: ⭐Lose more weight, faster than those on low-fat diets ⭐Improve your health ⭐healthier-looking skin and hair ⭐Support Endurance Training ⭐Increased focus and energy Do you also want to prove it yourself? Risks and complications The ketogenic diet may have a range of health benefits. However, staying on the ketogenic diet long-term can have an adverse effect on health, including an increased risk of the following health problems: kidney stones excess protein in the blood mineral and vitamin deficiencies a build up of fat in the liver The keto diet can cause adverse side effects that many people know as keto flu. These adverse effects may include: constipation fatigue low blood sugar nausea vomiting headaches a low tolerance for exercise These symptoms are especially common at the beginning of the diet as the body adjusts to its new energy source. Some populations should avoid the keto diet, including: people with diabetes who are insulin-dependent people who have eating disorders those with kidney disease or pancreatitis women during pregnancy and breastfeeding People who take a type of medication called sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors for type 2 diabetes should also not follow a keto diet. This medication increases the risk of diabetic ketoacidosis, a dangerous condition that increases acidity in the blood. 7. Improves PCOS symptoms Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder that can lead to excess male hormones, ovulatory dysfunction, and polycystic ovaries. A high-carbohydrate diet can cause adverse effects in people with PCOS, such as skin problems and weight gain. There are not many clinical studies on the ketogenic diet and PCOS. One pilot study from 2005 examined five women over 24 weeks. The researchers found that a ketogenic diet improved several markers of PCOS, including: weight loss hormone balance ratios of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) levels of fasting insulin A different review of studies from 2019 found that a keto diet had beneficial effects for people with hormonal disorders, including PCOS and type 2 diabetes. However, they did also caution that the studies were too diverse to recommend a keto diet as a general treatment for PCOS. 5. May protect brain function Some studies, such as this 2019 review, suggest the ketones that generate during the keto diet provide neuroprotective benefits, which means they can strengthen and protect the brain and nerve cells. For this reason, a keto diet may help a person prevent or manage conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease. However, more research is necessary into a keto diet’s effects on the brain.
6. Potentially reduces seizures The ratio of fat, protein, and carbs in a keto diet alters the way the body uses energy, resulting in ketosis. Ketosis is a metabolic process during which the body uses ketone bodies for fuel.
The Epilepsy Foundation suggests that ketosis can reduce seizures in people with epilepsy — especially those who have not responded to other treatment methods. More research is necessary on how effective this is, though it seems to have the most effect on children who have focal seizures.
A 2019 review supports the hypothesis that a keto diet can support people with epilepsy. The ketogenic diet may reduce epilepsy symptoms by several different mechanisms.

3. May reduce risk of certain cancers Researchers have examined the effects of the ketogenic diet in helping prevent or even treat certain cancers. One study found that the ketogenic diet may be a safe and suitable complementary treatment to use alongside chemotherapy and radiation therapy in people with certain cancers. This is because it would cause more oxidative stress in cancer cells than in normal cells, causing them to die. A more recent study from 2018 suggests that because the ketogenic diet reduces blood sugar, it could also lower the risk of insulin complications. Insulin is a hormone that controls blood sugar that may have links to some cancers. Although some research indicates that the ketogenic diet may have some benefit in cancer treatment, studies in this area are limited. Researchers need to carry out more studies to fully understand the potential benefits of the ketogenic diet in cancer prevention and treatment. 4. May improve heart health When a person follows a ketogenic diet, it is important that they choose healthy foods. Some evidence shows that eating healthful fats, such as avocados instead of less healthful fats, such as pork rinds, can help improve heart health by reducing cholesterol. A 2017 review of studies of animals and humans on a keto diet showed that some people experienced a significant drop in levels of total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL), or bad cholesterol, and triglycerides, and an increase in high-density lipoprotein (HDL), or “good” cholesterol. High levels of cholesterol can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. A keto diet reducing the effect on cholesterol may, therefore, reduce a person’s risk of heart complications. However, the review concluded that the positive effects of the diet on heart health depend on diet quality. Therefore, it’s important to eat healthful, nutritionally balanced food while following the keto diet. ⏩ Don't forget to share and follow @Lowkarbros for more keto recipes and tips for beginners.⁣ #lkb #lowkarbbros #keto#lowcarb #ketoinspo #lowcarbinspo #ketodiet #ketorecipes #ketolife #lowcarbhighfat #lowcarb #lowcarbdiet #ketonz #ketogenicdiet #ketogenic

1. Supports weight loss The keto diet may help a person lose weight. The ketogenic diet may help promote weight loss in several ways, including boosting metabolism and reducing appetite. Ketogenic diets consist of foods that fill a person up and may reduce hunger-stimulating hormones. For these reasons, following a keto diet may reduce appetite and promote weight loss. In a 2013 meta-analysis of 13 different randomized controlled trials, researchers found that people following ketogenic diets lost 2 pounds (lbs) more than those following low fat diets over 1 year. Similarly, another review of 11 studies demonstrated that people following a ketogenic diet lost 5 lbs more than those following low-fat diets after 6 months. 2. Improves acne Acne has several different causes and may have links to diet and blood sugar in some people. Eating a diet high in processed and refined carbohydrates may alter the balance of gut bacteria and cause blood sugar to rise and fall significantly, both of which can adversely affect skin health. According to a 2012 study, by decreasing carb intake, a ketogenic diet could reduce acne symptoms in some people.

Unlike other fad diets, you can still eat a lot of what you enjoyed before but should focus on good fats such as coconut oil, avocado, olive oil, grass-fed butter, and fatty cuts of meats from organic livestock. On the keto diet, you need to avoid sugar and carb-heavy food, like bread, cakes, cookies, candy, cereal, rice, pasta, ice cream, potatoes, store-bought sauces, and some fruits. Fruits that can be enjoyed on a keto diet are avocados, raspberries, and lemons when they are eaten in moderation. Fruit can be higher in carbs, and sugar, so you need to be careful to watch what you eat. 5. Ketogenic Diets May Help With Type 2 Diabetes
Research has shown that the keto diet is helping to improve blood glucose, which can be a significant benefit to people with type 2 diabetes.
Dr. Saurabh Sethi, who specializes in gastroenterology, hepatology, and advanced interventional endoscopy in San Francisco, has stated that the ketogenic diet has improved blood sugar control for patients with type 2 diabetes.
Other doctors, such as Jason Fung, MD, has been treating patients with type 2 diabetes with a keto diet and fasting. However, long-term research and data are missing.
The Conclusion The very low carbohydrate keto diet is very restrictive and can be unpleasant, and most people fail to make it through the initial adaptation period. Like any diet, you need to have patience and persevere with it for a couple of weeks you may see meaningful results.
As well as weight loss, the keto diet can help with treating various health conditions and can help you lose weight. However, there is a lack of research regarding the long-term effects of the keto diet and there has been some controversy regarding its potential long-term negative effects.
Before starting any lifestyle-changing diet, you should consult a doctor or nutritionist to make sure it is right for you.

3. You Will Lose Water Weight First When first starting the keto diet, you may see a quick drop in your weight, but don’t get excited just yet — that isn’t due to fat loss. Experts have said in the beginning the weight loss is largely water weight but can include some fat and muscle loss too. It takes a couple of weeks before your body starts to burn fat effectively. It is essential to maintain the proper macronutrient ratios of fat, protein, carbohydrates, and to eat enough calories daily to avoid the unwanted loss of skeletal muscle tissue to ensure that you have a healthy overall diet. 4. It is Not an Excuse to Eat Whatever You Want Although you can eat a substantial amount of food on the keto diet, it isn’t a free pass to consume endless amounts of foods such as butter and bacon. You still need to properly manage consumption of good fats and quality proteins. Furthermore, you should avoid eating large amounts of protein on the keto diet. Assistant professor and radiation oncologist, Colin Champ, MD, from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, stated that: “Overeating protein in the diet could stall the act of ketosis. A successful keto diet needs to support healthy fat sources to support metabolism”.
