there’s this extremely kind soul of a woman on instagram that makes accessible recipes that don’t require standing, chopping, or a stove and she might just have a permanent place in my heart

i must not get takeout. takeout is the wallet-killer. takeout is the little-death that brings total obliteration. i will face the kitchen, fridge, and pantry. i will make choices about what to cook and then execute them. when hunger is gone there will be nothing. only i will remain.

I was just diagnosed with high cholesterol, I’ve been getting by eating nuts and fruits when I have no energy but what are some good low spoon recipes that are high cholesterol friendly?
The best way to lower your cholesterol is to eliminate beef and pork from your diet.

toast, butter, i add a seasoning of my choice on top ( garlic, everything bagel seasoning, or nutritional yeast, etc). heat up a can of black beans, add in store-bought salsa. i usually scoop the beans on the bread for every bite. really good to me, but u can change the type of beans or alternatively maybe heat up a can of that pre-made chicken and do the same thing?
Yeah sounds like a base you can add a lot to

i buy the top ramen soy sauce flavor in bulk. And i have a squeezy tube of ginger, ill eyeball like a tbsp of that and add two dashes of tapatio/hot sauce, maybe a spoonful of pre-minced garlic. then ill add some random cubes of tofu. you dont need to cook it any other way than the instructions and it adds way more sustanance. vegan too

I'm not sure where they're sold, but cafe Asia does steamed duck and vegetable Bao buns, which take 40 seconds in the microwave for one bun. They're very tasty and filling, and a good source of protein. They're very good if you can get them! They sell them in packs of 40 I think

Note
Persian style rice - add frozen mixed peas corn and carrots and canned garbanzo beans to rice spiced with turmeric and garlic (and salt obviously) - alternatively use a pre-made middle eastern spice blend or saffron or fava beans and onions
Sounds good

Day 1 was a success, put bowls with nuts and dates in key locations and especially the dates were a great way to get through "didn't eat for too long"-nausea that can otherwise be a real hindrance to get myself to eat something more substantial ^^ (I'm not going to report on every day no worries, but I'm very glad that the first day worked out well!)
*nods* Thats good!

Ingredients: Quarter of a head of cabbage, 1 pound of ground meat, 1 cup of water, preferred no-salt spice blend, soy sauce.
Tools: Instant Pot/pot on stove, knife, eating bowl, eating fork.
Instructions: Remove cabbage core and put cabbage in pot, pour water on top. Place meat on top of cabbage so it doesn't touch the water, make it about an inch thick. Often you can just dump a flat brick of meat on top. Season meat heavily/to preference; it will flavor the rest of the dish. Steam until meat is cooked and cabbage is silky but stays together- in an Instant Pot, this takes 6 minutes of high pressure followed by 5-10 of slow release. Place in bowl and put soy sauce on top.
It's simple, it's hearty, it's a leafy vegetable, and it tastes good. Takes three cuts of a knife, doesn't require you to touch raw meat if you get the flat styrofoam tray meat, and can be modified with whatever spice blend you'd like. I like the Tsardust seasoning from Penzey's. You could also probably switch the soy sauce for using a salted spice blend, but I found the extra flavor from the soy sauce was welcome.
A dash of olive oil probably couldnt hurt either.

Boxed mac & cheese + 1 can of preferred chili for an easy one. I like to add shredded cheese and sliced hotdogs sometimes but thats extra effort (pre-shredded cheese can come out grainy because of the anti-caking starch in there)
Add shredded cheese when you add the milk and powdered cheese and add just a little bit of extra milk. That helps dissolve the cheese and prevent it being grainy.

I won't lie. Things are bleak.
But eating is still important, its the foundation to any kind of resistance and I am not even kidding.
I will try to be more active on here if people could send their recipies.

air fryer candied bacon for snacking or putting on sandwiches!
ingredients:
thick cut bacon
brown sugar meat seasoning (most brands work fine, just make sure it has sugar in it)
instructions:
line the fryer with tin foil for easy grease cleanup
lay out your bacon on the foil, make sure it doesn't overlap
sprinkle with a good amount of the seasoning
put it in the air fryer for ~18-22 minutes at 400° (don't preheat) depending on desired crispiness, make sure to monitor it past the 18 minute mark to prevent burning
take the bacon out when it's done, wait for the grease to cool and harden + either scoop out and save in a jar/plastic container or just toss the entire thing of tin foil and grease into the trash
i do this when i rlly want some sodium and protein that is tasty, i have pots so the extra salt is always welcome 😋 enjoy!
Sounds good tbh

Any tips for making as few dirty dishes as possible? I can’t keep up with doing dishes, but microwave meals are boring and expensive to have as a staple in my diet.
Paper plates, plastic forks and spoons and throw away aluminum foil roaster pans
