Spirit Tracks progress is at temple 2 now and I'm starting to get into the train riding parts too; the main issue with them in the beginning was probably just that it's really boring when there's very little to do when you don't have the cannon yet. Or I still don't like the one-mistake-and-you're-dead gameplay with the evil trains but I've had fun regardless.

Then there's the stealth stuff in the tower which is not fun to me at all, but that's mostly because it's flat out impossible to make stealth gameplay that I don't hate. And once you do get the Zelda phantom it is actually pretty fun to play with two characters, so I hope there will be more focus on that.

While I dread returning to the tower over and over, I had a good time in the second temple. The boss was entertaining, and the boomerang is a fun item and pairs well with the stylus controls. I'm actually surprised how smoothly the stylus works since I was prepared to be all grumpy about it.

However a roadblock has appeared from an unexpected source and that is the spirit flute. It turns out that getting through the flute sections is almost insurmountably difficult and I feel like there's something wrong with the microphone on my 3ds, like I feel Nintendo couldn't possibly have shipped a Zelda game in this state when it appears to not register the input properly. Or I don't know, maybe I'm just really bad at the game and find it easier to blame the hardware but I don't remember it being this hard. Like I do remember not liking the flute, but that was more in the old-man-yells-at-a-cloud style bitching about the gimmicky gameplay, and not about struggling to get through a section where you need to play two notes.

So now the current plan is to try the game on my DS instead of 3DS because that's where I originally played it and hope it works better. But my DS isn't here right now so I'll have to take little a break.
