you guys ever think about how solas' fen'harel statues are always in animal form as the dread wolf, how they flank mythal's statues in dalish camps like that of a guard dog protecting its master, and only in the light house he frames himself as a person and even then it holds no real striking resemblance to him apart from the bald eggy little head and you could mistake him for any subject, really. or how elgar'nan refers to him as a lapdog and mythal does nothing when elgar'nan belittles her general right there in front of everyone. or how the evanuris take high dragons and turn them into thralls, but solas does not. because solas is the thrall. he is nothing but a chained dog for mythal to wield until he goes rabid and has to be put down, or "released".

well anyway.

Monologue to Rook

Experimental fan video that I made for the Cameo I commissioned from Gareth-David Lloyd and that I'm super happy with! This was an absolute joy to do despite limitations!

Script, sound/fx and video editing by me. Official soundtrack extracted via Frosty Editor. Inspiration for script: unused lines, Dostoyevsky

Creative Note

The final script for the audio took me 1h to write due to character limitations within Cameo; I had to cut a lot of content. The concept plays after the Fade swap and trapping Rook within the Prison of Regrets. I like to think that their Blood Magic “telepathy” or rather, their mind exchange, is interrupted, so their connection persists but communication is not possible.

Speaking to Rook, having them around… let’s call it a habit, something Solas got used to do. With Solas free and Rook gone for weeks, he enters the Fade to speak to Rook, but he knows the communication is blocked and enters a monologue in a confessional moment. The thoughts are directed at Rook but they will never receive or hear them.
