According to Neil Gaiman, “Ken Reid (one of my very favourite UK comics artists, from the day I discovered his strips Queen of the Seas and The Nervs in Smash!, even if I didn’t know his name) drew these on the back of (I think it was) Shiver and Shake. Readers would send in character names and sketches, and he’d draw them up. (If your suggestion got picked you won £1.)”
