E’ming I adore as a symbol of what Hua Cheng hates about himself— his red eye, his weakness, his fear. The fact that it’s a sword that causes wounds which NEVER HEAL. The fact that Xie Lian’s biggest curse is that he can’t scar and always heals. This sword is an emotional extension of a younger Hua Cheng. It’s a vulnerable part of him. And he hates himself for being weak, so he hates the sword. But Xie Lian loves Hong-Hong-er. He loves him even though he was weak and feral and homeless. E’ming is the weapon forged to protect people. Hua Cheng made him for that exact purpose. Yet he’s renowned throughout the land as an evil blade. The stories of his origin being completely fabricated, mean that the truth is that much more sweet.

And Xie Lian loves E’ming no matter the rumors.

Because in spite of everything, it’s still you.

1st memory: Yin Yu's sect

Xie Lian was dressed in Daoist robes, a sword strapped to his back...Hua Cheng was dressed in white, his black hair cascading down his back, adorned with a white feather at his temple. Three rings graced his right hand, silver chains dangling from them. He exuded less of his usual alluring, unrestrained aura and instead possessed an air of refined elegance.

2nd memory: Divine Capital

Xie Lian was still dressed in flowing white robes but now held a bouquet of pure white flowers in his arms. He was barefoot, and apart from a gold bracelet on his wrist, he wore no other adornments.

...Seeing that Hua Cheng's clothes hadn’t changed, Xie Lian knew he hadn’t been assigned a new identity this time. ...“Yinyu knows I don’t like the Heavenly Court. He naturally wouldn’t dare to arrange an identity for me here.”... His gaze swept over Xie Lian, a thoughtful look on his face. “Although, the identity he arranged for gege this time isn’t bad. Quite fitting.”
