PRECARIOUS CARNAVAL

Part-party, part-procession, part-performance extravaganza: Precarious Carnaval was an unforgettable journey which will saw a confetti of performances, roaming scenes and strange spectacles as well as sculptures, installations and street parties.

Precarious Carnaval was divided into three epic acts over three days that took audiences on a journey through the past, present and future of England's first canal, from 1761 to 2061 to try and make sense of the times we’re living in now.

Precarious Carnaval was made by Lowri Evans, Renato Bolelli Rebouças and Rodolfo Amorim with hundreds of people from Salford.

Precarious Carnaval was funded and supported by Arts Council England, Boothstown Marina, Bridgewater Canal Company, Community Fund, Eccles Community Art Gallery, Est. 1761, Heritage Lottery Fund, Islington Mill, Peel, Salford City Council, Superbia at Manchester Pride, The Lowry and Worsley Rotary Club.

THE SHRINE OF EVERYDAY THINGS from Everyday Shrine on Vimeo.

An immersive, interactive journey through domestic spaces under transformation. It was played-out in an empty row of houses set for demolition and regeneration one summer in Ardwick, made with Contact Young Company, Rodolfo Amorim, Renato Bolelli Rebouças and Lowri Evans.

Installation and performance collided with memories of people and things, collected in drawers, behind closed doors, in the garden, down the street… think Coronation Street meets David Lynch.

In 2016 the production won the Youth Panel Award at Manchester Theatre Awards.

Someday this will pass and there will be nothing left. The inevitable spaghettification of it all. That's not something to fear "because we come from nothing" as Alan Watts puts it... and from nothing comes something new. Similarly to a much lesser degree, this project was pieced together repurposing old and unused material from my shoots to create something new. What started out as a series of throwaway Instagram experiments turned into something a lot more climatic.
