I don’t like caves. Especially caves where you’re not sure if you’re stepping on a rock or an angry Diglett. Most of the time though, it was an angry Diglett. I know Olivia said that this was the only way to really reach the next route where we’re supposed to meet, but I could really do without the constant Magnitudes against me. I guess I kinda understand where they’re coming from though. Some people from this Aether Foundation place told me that their home is being disturbed by Team Skull. I mean, if people were making a ruckus in my home I’d definitely retaliate. Just kinda wish I didn’t have to deal with it right now. Seiko really doesn’t enjoy the cave vibrating this much. She’s safe on my head for now, but...

Hm? Oh, so there’s the noise. As cool as Team Skull seems, they really need to stop making my life inconvenient. Guess it’s time to fight.

So... Kukui’s married. That’s honestly the last thing I expected. Gotta say though, his wife is really good-looking. Like damn dude, you did good.

...I shouldn’t be saying that about this man’s wife. But anyway. Professor Burnet gave us a bit of insight on all of this Ultra Wormhole business, though there’s still apparently a lot they’re not sure of. Something about another dimension or something? That paired with what she told us about Lillie’s random appearance on Melemele with Cosmog just leaves a lot of questions that no one really knows the answers to. Except maybe Lillie, neither Vesper or I really want to pry if she even understands how she ended up there.

Nebby’s just... really interesting. Cute too, but interesting. What’s so special about you, little buddy? Well, whatever it is, I don’t think we’ll be finding out anytime soon. At least it looks like Philo’s made a new friend.

Oh, is this thing finally working? Oh, thank god. I mean I get that Lush Jungle is well, a jungle, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t completely cut off my service! Though, I guess I could’ve updates while we were hanging around Route 8, but Philo started running around and got lost, so we had to go look for him. He... really doesn’t like being in his Pokeball. Though I guess it worked out because after we found him (he was with this... scientist-looking guy. Colress, I think he said his name was? He was techy and it was really sweet), it turns out he made a friend. So by association, I made a new friend.

But, that was just Route 8. I actually just finished my trial! Mallow’s really fun! The team didn’t mind getting a bit dirty for this, though maybe Mai was a bit annoyed with all the Morelull around. She kept trying to peck at them... Go peck at the Totem Pokemon if you’re gonna do that!

...Oh wait, she did. Welp. That was a bit anti-climatic. Mai, you might wanna chill a bit. The poor Lurantis didn’t even get to finish eating the stuff we made... I mean I finished the trial, so I guess it’s not all bad.

I looked back at the time on my phone again: three hours had passed. We’d been here for three hours. When we had first arrived, the time seemed to go by like nothing; but now that we’ve been here for so long, watching the bobber go up and down and up and down... It started weighing on us.

Well, more accurately, it started to weigh on me. Lana, on the other hand, seemed right at home and eager.

< The second my hand started to loosen its grip, there she was to help me adjust again. Honestly, this is why I’d brought her along; I’m not much of an expert for anything off of dry land, so it’s good to have someone who knows what they’re doing. >

< Both Lana and I ended up releasing a breath we never even knew we started holding. Though, I guess that’s to be expected. The silence then turned into laughter a second later. This situation was... interesting, to say the least. Maybe fishing is a good way to get close to someone? Well, not three hours worth, but you get my point. I felt her hand pat my shoulder as I went to retrieve the Pokeball, a smile accompanying her as well. >

Y’know, Kiawe’s a really super cool dude! His dancing is really great, and his Marowak are even cooler! Dude, their bones are on fire. Holy fuck. Hiker David? Also really cool dude. He high-fived me and Nagisa after we won, so it’s also good to know that Mr. Fire Pants keeps good company. Salazzle, though? I mean, it kinda freaked me out, but turns out she’s a pretty swell gal. Nagisa took her and her goon down no problem, and she didn’t really seem to hold it against us too much. I might try and pick one up eventually...

< Just when we thought there couldn’t be anymore surprises today, it looks as though we were wrong. The egg Vesper was holding began to glow; we weren’t really sure what to do at that point. I had dealt with eggs beforehand, so I knew what was happening. Kiawe shifted his attention to me before looking back in both surprise and what seemed like a bit of excitement. >

“Ah, it seems as though someone else wanted to join the party.”

“Damn, I guess so. Hey nerd, what are you gonna name the little babby bab? He’s yours to do so, so do it!”

< The look he gave me was a bit of disdain, but I think he got my point. The little furball in his arms started to move, only to look up at him and promptly make himself comfortable in his spot. >

Christ it’s hot in this place, it’s like a goddamn sauna. Well, it’s a volcano so I don’t know why I’m surprised but still. I don’t appreciate it. Little eggy seems to be liking it a bit though, but I think it’s the only one. Vesper’s kinda lucky that he’s not doing the challenge since it can be pretty draining at times... We’re doing what we can to train up for this trial though! Kyousuke’s still sorta getting used to his power, and Chisa’s trying her best to catch up to the rest too! She’s like a little cheerleader. Even Mai-- who’s like, perpetually angry-- seems to really like her. They’ve been getting along really well--

These Battle Royals are... something else. Very loud, a really dedicated fanbase it seems. Though, I don’t know who the professor thinks he’s fooling with that mask. It’s not that hard to see with his... stature that it’s him behind the mask. He even had the incentive to ask about the egg I had and whether or not it was doing okay. Ah, it’s not matter though. I guess they’re all having fun.

Except maybe that Gladion kid. He’s... interesting, to say the least. He says that he and that Type: Null creature are out to get stronger, but for what? A lot of things don’t add up, but I guess that’s to be expected. He’s got that mysterious aura that’s, as Lucy would say, is “covered by copious amounts of EDGE”. I honestly don’t know what to think about him.

...Hm? The egg is moving. It might not be too long now. I hope it’ll be okay...

Lucy and Hau seemed to have fun, although I’m surprised how well he took his Torracat going down to Nagisa. Despite how much she goofs off, she’s a surprisingly good trainer. I wonder if---

Oh god, we just made it back to Akala a few hours ago and we’re still on the move... I ended up spending a few more hours with Ilima since it took a while for Vesper to meet back up with us, but he saw us off when we boarded the ferry, so that’s nice...

They told us to go to this place called Royal Avenue, and I think we made it here, but those Team Skull guys showed up again. The same ones for Melemele too; it’s like a family reunion at this point. There was also this this girl-- she said her name was Hapu? -- and this Drifloon that she was apparently trying to protect. I was gonna let Maki take care of them, but Kyousuke actually stepped up to bat. I was kinda worried since he hadn’t had much battle experience, but turns out I was really underestimating him. Nagisa had been doing well to look after him, and turns out it all paid off.

Kyousuke evolved into Lucario!

Hapu’s apparently on some kind of journey on her own, so I hope we get to meet each other again! She seems like a cool person. Now, what’s this about Battle Royals? I saw the movie Battle Royale and that shit does not turn out well.

It’s a bit worrying to leave Lucy by herself, but I think I can trust Ilima enough to look after her. She’s taken quite the liking to him, but knowing her, it’s hard to tell whether or not this is just one of those little fleeting crushes she gets all the time. He could be the one to break that streak, but only time will tell. That’s not what I came for, though. I separated with them for a reason.

While it’s not the first time I’ve dealt with Pokemon eggs, I... couldn’t help but get worried about this little one. The egg seems a bit smaller than a few others I’ve seen. Since Professor Kukui was kind enough to let us visit whenever we needed, I ended up calling ahead of time to see if he could look into this for me. Lucy could get her Pokemon while spending time with someone besides me and I could get this evaluated; everyone wins.

From the professor’s analysis, the egg seems healthy from what he can tell. He said I might have to monitor the baby once it hatches just to make sure. It’s going to be smaller than most Pokemon of its species and that might effect its overall growth, but it’s nothing I should be too worried over. That’s... a relief at least. I still can’t help but stress a bit, though.

...Speaking of stress, I kinda wonder what was up with that kid we ran into near Brooklet Hill. Gladion, I think he said his name was? Why does Team Skull need an ‘enforcer’ for? He stands out a bit too much, even for their standards. But eh, it’s not my fight. Lucy’s the one doing the Island Challenge, not me.

I’ll just be here for the ride.
