a/n // here’s what i promised! collect your tears in a jar and ship them to me

the glisten in katsuki’s eyes was different today. it was afternoon, or so you thought as you looked right behind him seeing the sun was about to set. cradled in your husband’s arms, you were tilted slightly to the side so the blood coming out of your mouth didn’t suffocate you. your mind was hazy but you could feel and hear everything, from tears from katsuki’s cheeks smudging into your neck and the commotion all around including the defeated villains grunts while probably getting pushed inside a government vehicle. 

“i love you, i love you, i love you.” it was all he said, all he chanted. it was barely even heard, katsuki’s voice was too hoarse and quiet to but as his words vibrated along your paralyzed body, you could make out what he’s trying to say. tears are rolling down your cheeks, you can’t say it back. you had zero energy to even move your head to look down on him. pain soars through your whole body and you feel slight adrenaline pump through your veins and you manage to choke the confession of love right back to him before you slouched right back into his arms.

at that moment, katsuki looks up with tear-filled eyes, a puffy and red face. a chuckle leaves his lips right before he attaches them to yours, another heartbreaking sob erupting from his throat. why can’t it be like in the movies? you get to tell him how much you love him, how you’d want him to improve much much more as a hero and a person in general, all that bullshit. but here you’re left staring at the love of your life blankly as you felt yourself slowly being stripped away from life.

he notices the change. your body grew heavier in his arms and he smiles through the tears, wiping away yours. “i love you forever, okay?” the sweat forming in your forehead grew cold as katsuki placed his hand on your cheek. “sleep well, love.”

he lied. katsuki bakugou lied to you. arriving home at least a few days after you were gone, he immediately goes to pull all your pictures from the wall, setting them aside in a box. the house felt empty. of course it did. a message from his phone dings and he instantly looks at it, feeling slightly better now.

“it was already too late to tell them anyway.” katsuki huffs out, referring to his on-going 1 year affair with a girl he met at an interview.
