diary from 3/10/25

at the blue hole today we saw the scattered body of a dead deer and wondered why its rib cage was so far away from its skin. "birds", we guessed. we heard a loud noise while looking out at the water. it sounded like a machine starting, like a lawn mower, or digital, like a laptop sputtering, or domestic, like a door closing. it happened twice. "birds", we guessed.

we took turns guessing what time it was based on the feeling of the sun in the sky. i felt the sun on my left shoulder, of course it would be 3pm. of course, i was wrong.

on our way home, i saw two deer grazing the grass in an abandoned lot in west philly. it was obvious that there used to be a building there. all that will last in the world are lovers. the weeds always break through the concrete.
